Pros: I don't have to do the work. House is spotless. Gets under chairs easily. Cons: First unit broke within days. Toy-like, and gets stuck on stair edges.
Finally, smart technology for the homemaker. I've been waiting for intelligent appliances for years (remember the promises of the Jetsons, etc.?) and this seems to be the first step. Roomba is NOT perfect, but she is a great first generation robot....

Pros: Easy to use. Convenient. Amusing. Keeps room tidy. Goes where you won't. Cons: Must "prep" room prior to use. Slow and dumb. Not always successful.
A few months ago, one of a bunch of robot enthusiasts at work brought in a Roomba to work. I thought it was a neat idea, but felt that it was ultimately too toylike to be any use in my house.
About a week ago, I was walking my dog and...

Pros: Does great at picking up dog hair on a daily basis Cons: Must Roombanize the house first
[Let me Preface my review by saying that this is a second generation Roomba] I have a traditional vacuum and quite honestly living with 2 dogs, 1 dalmatian that sheds literally 365 days a year and a lhasa apso, meant that I had to drag the ...

Pros: Quiet, cleans effortlessly, easy to store, intelligent, vacuums surface dirt well Cons: Annoying to clean, bad for allergies, tiny bin for dirt, 12 hours to charge
The executive summary here is that Roomba effectively vacuums surface dirt, it is easy to handle, easy to store, great for cleaning when you're feeling lazy, and annoying to clean. As a result, depending on your circumstance, it may not save as much...

Pros: Convenient, lightweight, fun to watch Cons: Misses spots, short battery life, hard to get parts if broken
Years ago I came up with the thought of a vacuum cleaner that would do the job all by itself, powered by a robotic motor. The idea was based on a kids toy that I had in my childhood. Little did I know that years later my idea would become someone elses ...

Pros: Does reasonable job of cleaning by itself leaving you time to do something else. Cons: Requires too much maintenance and room preparation.
The Good The new Roomba Discovery arrived within weeks of my placing a call to IRobot. It has some major improvements over the first generation of Roombas. It fully charges within two or three hours instead of the ten plus hours of the old one. The ...

Pros: Cleans well on hardwood floor and under furniture.
Needs little supervision while cleaning. Cons: Needs a lot of cleaning.
Needs replacement parts after 4 months.
I have had a Roomba Red for about 4 months now. It works great on the hardwood floor, but is not as effective on rugs/carpet. I find that all I have to do is clear the floors and let it go. It goes under the table and sofa which was a lot more difficult ...

Pros: Works as advertised. Floor is definitely cleaner. Navigates well. Fun to watch. Frees your time. Cons: Small vacuum. Light cleaning only. Plastic/rubber parts may wear/break over time. Needs filter changes.
I'm basically a lazy person. I like a clean vacuumed room, but I rarely get motivated to spend the time doing it. So, I see this device on the Hammacher-Schlemmer catalog and think, oh, that's cool but it's probably like $1000 bucks or something. I...

Pros: Catches dirt under furniture not other vacuum catches Cons: High cost, annoying, high maintenance
The Roomba will change the way you clean. If it's for the better... only you can decide. The early posts are paid people who won't tell the truth if it hits them in the face. Never believe the early reviews. Still, the Roomba is an excellent device, ...

Pros: hands free vacuuming, what could be better?! Cons: will not totally replace people powered cleaning.....yet
Ok so I have spent the last 3 months reading reviews on this little gadget here in Epinions. After much online research and a few visits to the Sharper Image store I finally gave in and brought one home this weekend.
All I did was bring it...

Pros: Does the job, inexpensive, does for floors what dishwashers do for dishes Cons: Has problems with rug fringes
I've now cleaned my entire house using the Roomba vacuum robot for the past three weeks, and to my surprise, this thing actually works! It looks small (about the size of a hubcap), it doesn't have powerful suction, its brushes aren't huge, it only...

Pros: This is cool!! Great price for what it does, works perfectly! Cons: Items sometimes get shot out instead of sucked up, on the hardwood floors.
My husband normally wouldn't DARE buy me a vacuum cleaner or anything like that for a gift, but he knows how much I love gadgets and technology - and I LOVE this gift! I have used it twice since receiving it yesterday for Christmas.
In...
