Style With Substance

by Brian_Igo Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 11 '02
Pros: Beyond the cube styling, good sound for the price, convenient bass and treble controls
Cons: A little over-dominant on the bass, could be crisper, no headphone jack
Note: This is a relocation of a review posted (long) before Epinions added the Altec Lansing ATP-3 to the database. Originally published June 18, 2000. -BI

WOW! What an amazing set of speakers.

by Adam_Comtois , Jun 29 '02
Pros: Sleek Design, speakers are very compact, nice sound
Cons: No headphone jack, sub is rather large
I bought these speakers to go along with a new HP computer i purchased about a month ago. It comes with speakers already, but i knew that they weren't a great pair. I decided to get the ATP3's because many people suggested them, and Altec Lansing has a...

Indeed.

by tewl , Jul 17 '01
Pros: great bass, sound quality and look.
Cons: not very portable.
I purchased these recently to put with my other armada of speakers that i had purchased from a while back. I have a sub and 2 speaker set from altec lansing, and a surround sound set with 9 speakers and a subwoofer. I plugged these into my sound card...

A stylish and sonic bang for your buck

by chadley25 , Apr 24 '05
Pros: Rich lows and crisp highs. Very stylish design. Great performance at a very reasonable price.
Cons: More wires to add to the tangle behind the PC. No headphone jack.
Computer speakers have come as far along in the last 10 years as any other component in the typical PC, so when I stumbled across the ATP3 system, I figured it was about time to upgrade. I don't play games on my PC, nor do I routinely watch movies, but ...

Great sound from three speakers

by kurt_h Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 28 '01
Pros: Great, rich sound
Cons: Placing sub-woofer difficult in cramped office
I'll be honest and say that for me speakers are used in conjunction with my computer not to listen to music, but to play games. I am not a stereophile, nor do I play one on TV, so I can't tell you about all the wavelength specs and such for this speaker...

:P Boom!

by UCturboBoii , Sep 21 '01
Pros: Good sound with deep bass.
Cons: Could be pricey for consumers who just want to hear sound.
Boom! A bomb has detonated in the elevator in the movie speed. I nearly have jumped out of my seat for I have set the volume too high. Altec Lansing’s 3 piece speaker set have impressed me. The 3 piece speaker is Bose at over ten times cheaper. Yet...

Altec Lansing ATP 3 Speakers

by wilkit88 , May 07 '01
Pros: Black finish. Compact size.
Cons: Light weight makes turning volume and tone knobs difficult as speakers slide back.
I received these speakers as a gift. I used them to replace a CyberAcoustics 2-speaker/subwoofer combination.

I was not expecting a lot since PC speakers never really measured up to my expectations, but I am very pleased with the sound...

Great All Around Speakers

by bobtheguardian , Oct 14 '01
Pros: Good Price, Great Looks, Good Sound
Cons: Lacks extremely low bass
When I received these speakers for my birthday I was ecstatic. I had been using a pair of unamplified, Creative Labs speakers from my 486, and boy were these an improvement. These speakers perform very well, accurately reproducing sounds from games,...

A nice replacement speaker set ....

by cudbee , May 13 '02
Pros: stylish and compact
Cons: bit of a loud amp
If your on a tight budget and dont really need the head banging experience of more powerful speakers, than these are just the set for you. I had my previous set of speakers die on me and it took a while to get a brand name set of speakers. being on a...

These sound much better than most speakers costing twice as much!

by vdublunut , Jun 12 '03
Pros: Outstanding sound quality! Unbeatable value. Separate bass & treble, on/off volume controls on the satellite.
Cons: Color may not match your PC... Are you entering your PC in a fashion show??
Before buying this system, I listened to at least a dozen other speakers for less than $100 (includi ...

I've heard much better ... from cheaper components

by hankshay , Mar 14 '03
Pros: Volume control+adjustment+power control on speaker. Very different look. Period.
Cons: Fair to poor midrange/vocal output. No headphone output on speaker.
I listen to music and play games on my computer on a daily basis. I have been using a pair of Cambridge PCWorks 3piece speaker system which can be purchased for $30. These sound good, but after 3 years, I really wanted bass adjustments and power on/off...

Altec Lansing ATP3 - Great buy!

by ggetek , Oct 07 '02
Pros: Convenient bass/volume/treble controls, great sound, slim design
Cons: Subwoofer is bulky
The Altec Lansing ATP3 (3 piece speaker system) is a great buy. Out of all the computer speaker systems I have tested this sounded the best by a longshot. Quality sound and thumping bass made this my top pick for computer speaker systems. Priced modera ...

Great BANG for the buck!

by jcosta01 , Feb 25 '03
Pros: Great sound, low price, very stylish design. Separate bass, treble & volume controls
Cons: None
I can't imagine that you will find a better sounding satellite system for the price of this system. Since I was burned a couple of times on systems costing twice as much I thought I would give these a shot for around $60 based on the great reviews these...

Altec Lansing ATP3 computer speakers

by MacPhyle , Dec 01 '02
Pros: excellent sound... I would certainly have paid more for this quality!
Cons: no cons
Since it was difficult to find any buying advice for Mac users regarding these speakers, I was concerned about Mac compatibility. The box in the store said Mac compatible, yet all the pricewatching sites said PC only, and the manufacturer's website said ...
