It was the first... is it the best?

by quigley13 , Aug 28 '00
Pros: Integration of audio & video for an all in one performance solution
Cons: Poor video performance, lack of front side bus speeds
Abit is known for being on the cutting edge of motherboard development. They always seem to be the first one out with a new product/feature and are constantly pushing the envelope.

The 815e chipset
The Abit SE6 is based on the...

SH6 - The Only Available Slot 1 Upgrade Path

by cptsulu , May 07 '01
Pros: Only slot 1 upgrade path, 815 chipset, includes many useful cables, large PCB
Cons: price, only slot 1 upgrade path, large PCB
The SH6 is a cousin to the SE6, making it, feature-wise, almost identical to the SE6. One major difference is instead of using a Socket 370 to connect the processor, it uses a Slot 1 instead. Most people will favor the Socket 370 flavor, but the Slot 1...

Good solid board..

by Adisharr , Jan 05 '01
Pros: Solid construction, fast IDE interface, stable overclocker
Cons: Limited bus speed choices, bad DIMM slot placement
I recently built three Pentium III systems based on this motherboard. I chose this board because of the new 815 chipset which gives you on-board video (not used), sound (included but not on 815 chipset and not used), 1/2 AGP multiplier (used) and ATA100...

Fast, Stable, and Full of Features

by orion522 , Nov 30 '00
Pros: Ultra Fast ATA 100 IDE, Supports high end Pentium III processors, runs perfectly stable at 133 MHz Bus, and has fairly nice integrated sound.
Cons: The integrated video and sound drive the price up a little
I recently purchased this Abit SE6 motherboard to upgrade my aging AMD K6-2 500 system. Along with this motherboard I bought a Pentium III 800EB processor (800 MHz with a 133 MHz FSB). Here is what I think about the various aspects of this board:

Piece of Cake

by cjs1 , Sep 24 '00
Pros: Ease of Setup Easy to Overclock
Cons: None Yet
This is a great motherboard to learn to build a PC on. I plugged everything in and installed Windows ME and the only device driver that I had to install was the modem. This board is good for starter's because you don't need to know anything you can just...

no regrets

by rgraf , Dec 06 '00
Pros: good all around board
Cons: 512 meg ram limit
I bought this board because I wanted a computer with no integrated audio/video, so when it became "obsolete" I could use it for a server running linux.

I also got it because of all the pci slots. The integrated audio and video,...

Great Stability and Power

by Noissif , Oct 03 '00
Pros: 815E, 4X AGP, 6 PCI, No ISA, Supports 1ghz+ processors, ATA 100, Great OC capability, Massive throughput, Stable
Cons: 512mb ram limit, Onboard Audio/Video, Worthless CNR slot
I purchased this board because i found it a great price $119 and it had a lot of features that will really boost my performance over my older system like 4X AGP, ATA 100, support for 1ghz procs and 6 pci slots to fit all my cards. I found the Onboard...
