Pros: Big, Beautiful, Bright, Black or White Cons: No DVI input, 60Hz refresh rate
I had been wanting an LCD monitor for as long as I can remember. As the prices started to fall drastically, this NEC LCD monitor was introduced to the market at around the $1000 price point - unheard of at the time, especially for a name-brand monitor....
Pros: Cheap, bright, crisp, clean. Cons: No DVI input capabilities. No "Pivoting." No vertical adjustment.
After having a painful experience with a couple of NEC MultiSync LCD1810Xs, which you can read about in my Epinion on the LCD1810X, I reluctantly purchased another NEC to try out, this time the lower-end LCD1830, and I was glad I did.
Pros: Great Screen at optimal resolution! Fast screen rate. Cons: Heavy!!! & Bulky appearance. Screen has buzzing sound.
I use this monitor everyday at my job. Our tech guys set the resolution to 800X600 and I used to think the display was horrible and blurry. Actually everyone in the office (the older generations seem to love this big blurry display) seems to be fine with ...
Pros: Superb picture quality. Size. Price. Warranty (3 years). Cons: Color not stable
This monitor is excellent. One area where it lacks is in color rendition: I have experienced some problem with it. The color temperature does not remain stable. NEC support people are excellent but could not solve my problem. They told me they would...
Pros: Great picture, incredible imagery and color. Easy on the eyes. Cons: HORRIBLE/INCONVENIENT location of VGA cable connector. Monitor flickers on wake.
I think overall this is a great monitor, but after one year of ownership ( I bought it new) it flickers for about 30 seconds after 'waking' (from hibernation). I don't know what is causing this but I would sure like to know because I paid upwards of $800 for this thing. After the flickering stops, it is fine, but I can't help but think failure is right around the corner.
Also, this is NOT a bright monitor. It is very flat and almost dull - which is perfect on the eyes but not good for those who need very bright monitors.
Didn't last as long as I'd like by emmikins ,Nov 18 '06
Pros: screen looks fine (I'm not a gamer) Cons: Didn't last very long.
This monitor worked fine for about 3 years, but then became flakey. I'm not a monitor expert by any means, but the bottom line is it no longer reliably connects to the computer; sometimes it finds the signal, sometimes it doesn't. When it does work it's out of focus and I can't see any way to control the focus from the monitor itself.
