Pros: Designed for Over clocking and the future in mind. Cons: The BIOS Update software does not work
I had been looking at a new motherboard for some time now, I wanted something that would still run my legacy components and be capable to handle future hardware; I also wanted fairly high quality parts. After much research, I have chosen the ASUS A7A266....
Pros: Different memory configurations Cons: Unstable with Crucial Memory, Totally incompatable ATI Rage Video Cards
The first reviewer got it right on the nose, DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD! I bought this board for my first high speed gaming machine. I ordered DDR2100 memory from Crucial, which worked at first but then started giving me problems, such as feedback noise in...
Pros: Good manual; easy installation; easy to overclock; All those USB ports!! Cons: had to update the BIOS to work with my ATI graphics card
When my old beater K6 system went belly-up, I decided to look for a new motherboard that would use all my existing "pieces" and still allow for future upgrades. (On my budget, I can't afford to replace everything at once!)
Pros: Cheap, stable with PC100 memory Cons: Unstable with "supported" memory, terrible support
I purchased this motherboard for a friend's computer we were building him. It was to be an Athlon-based 2100DDR system. I picked the Asus board because I had friends who swore by Asus, and the pricing for this board was acceptable.
Pros: great MB. Easy install and a overclockers dream. Cons: can't think of any
this is a great mother board for the computer savey. Easy to install. Easy BIOS updates. has sockets for both SDram and DDR. Don't attempt to run both at the same time!!!! jumper free motherboard. Great installation manual. Very easy and as a matter...
Pros: Stable, affordable, upgradeable and flexible. Cons: None worth noting.
I have heard some not so good reviews of this board but I have built over 40 systems and have been using this mobo for over 18 months and am very please with it. I am using Crucial DDR2100 memory, have run procs. starting with 900 Duron, Athlon 1800 XP and now a 2200 Athlon XP, all with super stability and upgraded bios without a hitch. Asus makes great boards and this one is solid. I haven't used any ATI video cards but any Nvidia based cards seem to work fine. If you want to help keep your system stable, make sure it has a premium power supply, good RAM, and keep it properly cooled. Of course keep your OS tuned and safe guarded.
OK, i bought this mobo along with an AMD Athlon 1400, assuming i was getting a good deal BOY was i wrong, this motherboard is the bigest pile of junk i have ever owned, it is slow, its chipset is so unstable i have to do a clean install of windows every 2 weeks or so, it is no faster than my old Cyrix MII for windows use, i cant install Linux on it, cos its incompatable! ARGH i hate it so much. DONT EVER BUY THIS MOTHERBOARD!! EVER!!!!
