Purchased this set Christmas '06 after comparing to Sony and Mitsubishi.  The picture seemed better and at that time had better reviews.  For first 16 months was very pleased, then it started shutting off, for no apparent reason.  I was warned by the vendor (Circuit City) that lamp would burn out within 2 years, but lamp seems to be fine.  It seems to be a problem that comes and goes.  Sometimes we will go weeks without the problem, then it happens 2 or 3 times in 5 minutes.  Very frustrating.

With the price of LCD and Plasma sets dropping, and their improved performance in attaining deep blacks in their colors, I think they are probably better choices now.

I purchased mine in Jan. 07', and in June 07' the lamp already went out and the lead time for the tech to come out is a week. The only tech. mind you in California. Ridiculous. Will never buy another Samsung product. Oh, and if you tell them that as well you won't get any more attention. They simply don't care. There are plenty more future unsatisfied customer's.

I purchased the TV about 90 days ago from BestBuy and paid $1500 (they matched Fry's Electronics price).

The picture is fantastic and the connectivity is great as well. I have had no issues to date and the picture is awesome. Couldn't be more pleased thus far.

I especially like the various inputs on the back of the television. The HDMI ports are well labeled and easily accessible. There are plenty of component and s-video ports as well. I was especially looking forward to connecting my PC to the VGA port on the back of the set, but am having trouble getting that to work.

The set has a very sleek black finish with a single circular power button on the front bottom. Overall the set is attractive and modern looking without being gawdy.

Purchased the Samsung 9 months ago. Picture was the best. Recently we started getting a shadow on the right side. Started out about 6 inches and now cover 1/2 the screen. I have been trying to get service for 3 weeks to no avail. I had appointment today, only to be called 15 minutes before appointment that the part did not come in. This is the 2nd time I have been told part did not come in and was on back order. Although the picture is great when it works, Samsung does not support the product well. Beware!
