Pros: Cool, clean and light taste; Cheap when purchased outside of the USA Cons: "Skunks" easy when not properly cared for. Hard to get when not in Asia
During the numerous coup attempts, assassinations, typhoons, and the occasional earthquake or volcano this was the one constant that I could count on as a young man during my three year stay in the Philippines.
I had my first San...

Pros: Great nose. Well balanced and subtle. The best finishing beer available. Not expensive. Cons: Head does not last. Aroma 'stales' as the beer sits. Not the easiest to find.
I have tried beer all around the world, owing to a career that involves global travel, and this inexpensive, big brewery, mainstream Asian beer has yet to be beaten. It is nearly perfect. In contrast to the current American micro brew trend of ...

Pros: Light, refreshing, crisp taste Cons: Goes off easily. Hard to get hold of in some areas.
San Miguel is a wonderful drink. I first tried it when I was given some as a present. I'm not a huge lager drinker, preferring German beers and Real Ales, but it was the middle of summer and at the time I would have drank anything!
On first...

Pros: refreshing, sharp looks, rich flavor, suit for youngsters Cons: none
Last Sunday one of my best friends took a business trip to Manila. Before leaving, he asked me if I would like him to bring me some Philippine specialties.
"Well then," I replied almost immediately, "bring me two or three bottles of San...

Pros: cheap and great Cons: hard to find outside Philippines
San Miguel, San Miguel! My life for a San Miguel! Ok, well, maybe this is an exaggeration, but as far as beers go, San Miguel tops them all. In my opinion and in the opinion of millions (well ok, maybe hundreds) of other tourists I've chatted with during...

Pros: great taste, non filling Cons: watch the alcohol content
I first tasted San Miguel beer about 1972 and for many years that's the only brand I'd drink. Being a career Air Force noncom, and spending most of my career in the Pacific area, I had plenty of opportunities to sample this great beer and others as...

Pros: Taste and Aroma Cons: None once you reach 21
This review isn't about the San Miguel beer you are going to find here in the US. As fine as that beer is, one of the best you will find in America, it has been shipped half way around the world. It has to loose something during the trip. If you want to...

Pros: It has a refreshing taste. Cons: The alcohol content of the US counterpart is lower then that found in the Philippines.
The beer is refreshing, light and perfect with any dish, whether it is meat or fish. It is also great for recreational drinking.
When you drink San Miguel it quenches your thirst. You can feel the bubbles pop in your mouth like caviar. ...

Pros: So colorful and flavorful, yet so light and refreshing. Hard to reconcile, but wonderful. Cons: Was my favorite until I tried San Miguel Dark/Cerveza Negra
If you want a light, non-filling beer with the richness, flavor and complexity of a darker microbrew, this is it for you. It reminds me a bit of the top Mexican beers, such as Negro Modelo or Bohemia.
It's bolder cousin, Cerveza Negra, gets...

Simply the best beer
by wassabi2004 ,Jun 12 '05
Pros: Great taste, goes down smooth, smells great, not heavy on the stomach Cons: Impossible to get anywhere - when bought outside the Philippines, it doesn't taste the same
The last San Miguel i have ever had was when i was in Ninoy Aquino airport, waiting for my flight to board... Knowing that this would be my last SMB (San Miguel Beer) for a long time... i drank it slow, enjoying every sip of it, letting its smooth feel and taste slowly dribble down my throat... to simply put it, it was probably the best beer i have ever had...
Now im in the US, and i can't seem to find a beer that would replace it... Miller and Budweiser just can't seem to compete... sometimes i get lucky though, and find a case of SMB at raplhs, however, it just doesn't taste the same... It seems that shipping this stuff alters the taste...
anyway, every beer drinker should at least try this beer... This beer is soo good, i would fly to Manila just for a bottle (if i had the money hehe)...

One of the best Pilsens
by nocurnalis78 ,Nov 30 '07
Pros: smooth, flavorful, no aftertaste Cons: It is so easy to drink you may find yourself wasted in no time
San Miguel Pale Pilsen is one of the easiest beers to drink. It is smooth and flavorful and blows away anything else that San Miguel puts out, their light beer literally tastes like urine. It is so far ahead of the mass produced American pilsens it's not even funny. While not the best beer I have ever had, it is commendable. Living here in the Philippines now, I don't have much variety for a beer lover like myself so this is the only beer I drink now.
