"Perfect Sleeper?"... NO WAY!
by bobebber ,Sep 12 '07
Pros: Comfortable for the first 6 months
Cons: Garbage, Waste of Money, No one Cares!
Purchased this mattress from Sleep Country last year. What a complete waste of money! We called about the warranty and had someone come to our house last night to measure the indentations - he said on his report that they were 1/2" to 1" - not enough to send it back.
Basically, we threw our money away. The Mattress is terribly uncomfortable and I am now sleeping on an air mattress - I'm getting a better sleep on a $40.00 air mattress than this "Perfect Sleeper". At least I'm not up at 4am with aches and pains any longer.
Do not buy this mattress if you want a good night's sleep and value for your money.

We need a ladder to climb out of the troughs!
by ldburchfiel ,Jun 07 '05
Pros: No flip. Pretty fabric on mattress.
Cons: Sinking, will make you see your chiropractor.
I beg you not to buy this worthless mattress! We purchased the mattress and boxsprings 6/30/01 on sale for 710.00--Just 4 YEARS AGO, and we are already getting ready to buy a Select Comfort. Why?? Because our backs are shot at ages 27 and 29 from this mattress!! When we went to buy the bed we specifically said that we wanted one that would not sink in the middle, so we got an extra firm perfect sleeper because it was, in salesman's words "constructed differently from other mattresses to avoid sagging." If you sleep by yourself, you are okay, but with two people you just roll straight to the middle. You can actually see the craters that our bodies have made in the bed--we're just average sized people, too. My husband has started sleeping in my 3 yr old's bed just so he won't wake up completely stiff. I am going to send a complaint, but after reading these other complaints, I'm not expecting any action.

Perfect Night for one Year
by guidosan ,Feb 07 '07
Pros: Incredible sleep for 6 months; beautiful fabric
Cons: Severe sagging despite flipping--pillowtop loses fluff.
I purchased Perfect Night King Size set, (Consenza Limited Edition) for $1600 in the fall of 2000. It was a dual-sided pillowtop. For six months I experienced the most wonderful sleep I have ever experienced since childhood. The fabric was beautiful. Then it started to sag. And sag. And sag.

I weigh 155. The mattress is supported well, with more than the required number of crossmembers in the bedframe. The mattress was flipped monthly at first, and then weekly. The problem seems to be what some of the other posters have said: the pillowtop loses its elasticity. It feels as though I sleep on a hammock now.

I dread going to sleep now and waking up sore and cramped. Macy's finally agreed to take it back after two inspections from a "mattress expert". I am told I will be given a choice of replacement.

My Macy's doesn't sell Serta anymore.

DON'T BUY SERTA
by patraveller ,Apr 07 '05
Pros: None
Cons: Serta's customer service
I bought a Serta extra firm Cassablanca model in 2001. It started to sag almost immediately and was replaced by the retailer in 2003. Just the mattress, not the box spring. It is sagging again. After numerous attempts and 2 registered letters the retailer finally came to look at the mattress. Later I received a message from the Serta rep saying the mattress was sagging only an inch and a half and this was normal. You can see the sag and it sags even considerable more with the weight of a body. It is impossible to sleep with another person in the bed because you roll to the middle. My friend is having the same problem and was told to complain again in 6 months when it sags more. What upsets me is the fact that SERTA claims this sag is normal and until I sent registered letters, they ignored me. Clearly Serta is having quality problems and refusing to honor their warranty.

Misleading sales
by titerope ,Jun 17 '04
Pros: None
Cons: Very unethical sales presentation
I bought a Serta bed from Shop NBC. It was too tall and very uncomfortable. When I called to have the bed returned I was told it was Serta's policy to charge $135 for a return. I was not told this when I ordered the bed or I never would have ordered it. I will never buy anything from Shop NBC or Serta again.

Serta Silver Strand mattress purchased Feb. 2004
by gretasue ,May 05 '05
Pros: No flipping needed with the one-sided pillow top
Cons: Serta matresses doesn't seem willing to stand behind their warranty to satisfy a dissatisfied consumer
What a piece of defective work. We kept being told sleep on it some more, you'll get used to it. 1 year, 2 months later, both my husband and I experienced severe back pain. A mattress inspector came and and sure enough, the mattress had broken down 1 and 1/4 inches. There's a big lump in the middle of the bed where we don't sleep and both sides where a person sleeps sag.

We were told Serta will replace it with the same mattress although the same mattress has been discontinued. Why would we want the same one? Also we were told there's a $40 delivery charge -- for a defective mattress? I don't think so.

Now we're stuck. Anybody else ever had the same experience?

a very long night....
by ayellum ,Dec 22 '05
Pros: None
Cons: huge ruts after one month. .
The Serta Perfect Night felt very comfortable in the store but after less than one month had major troughs in it on my side (I weigh 120 pounds...) We had 30 days to exchange it with Mancini's Sleepworld, where we'd bought it. We were so busy and did not think it would get any worse, but no!! After two months we are rolling into each other in the middle of the bed and the rest of the bed slopes into it. It is a nice looking piece of junk with two big ruts in it and collapsing springs after two months!!! My old Sealy was still in better shape after 9 years and frankly I wish I could just get it (and my $1600) back. I called Mancini's and someone was supposed to call me about looking at it but, surprise! no one has called.
Don't waste your money on junk like this. They don't make double sided mattresses any more. They just make them cheaper and cheaper and don't offer any customer service either.

Worst mattress we ever had!!!-Sagging Hole in Mattress
by kayah2 ,Oct 18 '07
Pros: It looks nice. Only selling point.
Cons: Rotated mattress, sagging hole on my husbands side now on mine.
I'm writing this to warn people about Serta. My Husband and I purchased a Serta Perfect Day Mattress. Within a couple of month's we notice the mattress started to sag. We contacted the company where it was purchased. After four to five month's of calling the store, someone finally came out to inspect it. We were told by this independent company that it showed the mattress was indeed sagging, but was not sagging enough for the warranty to cover.( It is measured without anyone laying on the mattress). This is the worst mattress we have ever had. My husband is having really bad back pain because of this awful mattress. (He has missed work) I myself are having back and joint pain because of this mattress. I contacted Serta asking to speak to the president of the company Bob Sherman, but was told he cannot be reached by phone! I feel that this company does not care about the "little people" that are buying there product. I would recommend not buying a Serta Mattress to anyone. We cannot afford to buy another mattress so we are having to sleep on the floor.

Serta is the WORST!
by dmesserli ,Aug 04 '05
Pros: Comfortable for the first 30 days
Cons: Starts failing at 60 days and just keeps getting worse!!!!
I purchased a Sertya perfect sleeper Marinwood plush mattress set.I was assured it was top of the line and wouldnt sag shift,blah,blah,blah....As soon as it did(the pillow top has completely failed)I called Serta thinking"no problem" They sent their guy out who flipped it twice until he found a small area where apparently it was Sweat on.Definetly different than any stain you might expect to find. After eventually finding this he left .I got a letter 3 days later saying they had to void the warranty! The guy had to flip it twice to find something and obviously this is their procedure for voiding warrantys.DONT TAKE A SERTA IF IT IS FREE!!!!!

Not worth the $$$ - w/i a year, cannot use comfortably.
by mroreo123 ,Jul 30 '06
Pros: Seemed like the right thing to buy
Cons: $$$ + unusable product in under a year.
Purchased the mattress set at Marshall Fields - did our research & thought we were doing the right thing by spending a little more to get something comfortable. It was wonderful at first, however... Memory foam sounds like a cool technology, but what it really means it that you will have divets in your bed exactly resembling you & your partner. We called Serta to see what they would do for us. They would not honor their warranty as... nothing's really wrong w/ the bed.
We are average sized people & did not expect sink holes to form. Not being able to flip the bed is actually a bad thing, as there's no way to even out the damage caused by the MEMORY in the foam...... even making the bed looks messy as the divets remain visible even with a comforter on top. Save your money & buy something else.

Don't waste the $1500
by metrev ,Nov 24 '04
Pros: There are no pros to this useless and very expensive product.
Cons: It will wear a trough within 3 months.
I have owned a Serta Perfect Sleeper for about 8 months. Now sleeping on a Serta is like sleeping in a hole in the ground. You have to crawl out of the hole in the mornings. My wife is now sleeping on the floor. I will be joining her tonight. Serta's customer Service is useless. The Customer Disservice representative told me to forward my complaint to the address on the tag which read "Houston, TX." I don't expect to have problems getting that letter delivered. It is 2004 and they reply on snail mail to receive complaints. I am now going back to the dealer, but I suspect that I have been taken to the cleaners.

Below is the response I received from Serta. Beware!

It's important that you understand that Serta is made up of independently owned licensees. As a corporation, Serta does not own or operate any of these factories. Consequently, all decisions involving warranty issues, mattress replacements or refunds are made at each factory. Our job at Serta, Inc. is to provide programs and services to these factories, not to mandate how they service the warranties on the mattresses they produce.

Sincerely,

Consumer Relations Department
