Pros: Incredibly easy to install, low cost, energy efficient way to heat a pool Cons: I'm not too crazy about plastic, it may not last for years to come...
Review of SmartPool Sunheater System (January 25, 2008) This is really a smart pool item to have, if you own a pool in one of the northern states where you only have a couple of months of really hot days, but you love to swim in the pool. ...

Great Product

Pros: Cheap to buy. Easy to setup (if you lay it on your grass) Cons: Requires some pluming experience for roof mount. Required larger pump if you’re going to the roof.
Although this person above complains about buying additional hardware to use the Sun Heater (I had to do the same) This system works great. I built on last year with irrigation piping, but wanted something more manufactured and refined. I purchased 2 2'x20' panels and placed them on my roof next to the pool. Although the time I installed we had nothing but clouds :( I was still amazed to see that the units worked. Now that we have Sun, I see the pool increasing about 15 Degrees! We have an 18' Above ground pool, with Hayward pumping equipment. It required a day for me to do pluming. However the project still cost me less than a gas heater. Not to mention the additional savings in ongoing heating. Please do your Solar Research!
