Load it, shut it, forget it!

by kundansen , Apr 05 '02
Pros: Cool appearance, great pics, simple to operate, video mode, great handling
Cons: battery guzzler, low zoom range, low power flash
Finally, Sony has come out with a digital camera that's well within the reach of most of us, and offers quality that can very well compare with models nearly double it's price from the same manufacturer.

First, the key points. If you have been...

I love my Sony!

by TonyNYC , May 25 '02
Pros: Easy to use, great features, light weight, excellent rendition.
Cons: Mpeg without sound, skimpy 4MB Memory Stick.
I love photography, plain and simple. Recently I decided to add to my arsenal of photo equipment, a new digital camera. As I wasn't planning on using it for some of professional work, I didn't want to spend over $500.00 dollars on a camera. I decided...

Good but expensive

by six_sigma , Dec 16 '01
Pros: Easy to use, good picture quality.
Cons: Expensive when accessories are added.
This is the first DSC I owned. I purchased this camera six months ago at employee price. Since then the price has dropped significantly and now the retail price with mail in rebate is $100Cdn cheaper than the price I paid.

Originally I was...

Great everyday digital camera.

by JoeFeds , Dec 27 '01
Pros: Takes brilliant daytime photos, good features, additional filters/lenses available...
Cons: infoLithium Battery Pack/64 megabyte Memory Stick a must... Video function is worthless.
This camera model seems to be pretty popular this year for the general digicam starter or continuing non-professional user. The price looks good from the onset, but you will quickly realize you'll have to shell out $150 more for the accessories...

Excellent digital camera!

by jeremy1981 , Dec 10 '01
Pros: Easy to use. Excellent pictures. Cool looking!
Cons: Small 4MB Memory Stick, Pricey After Extras

After owning a Fujifilm MX-1200 digital camera for over a year I decided it was time to upgrade. It was a hard decision on which camera to get. It was between a Sony Cybershot DSC-P50, Kodak DX-3600, Nikon 775 or Canon A20. Although all the cameras...

Nice Photos but Overall Poor Quality Camera

by conker , Oct 20 '02
Pros: Nice Photos
Cons: Battery Problems
We bought the camera in February 2002 - it was wonderful right out of the box. It took wonderful outside shots and good indoor shots; however, lighting was a factor. We purchased a starter kit - which included a NP-FS11 battery pack, charger and case....

Sony Cyber-Shot P50

by mopar_man , May 22 '02
Pros: A lot of camera for the money.
Cons: Anemic 4 mb memory stick and poor battery life
I was in the market for a simple point and shoot digital camera for under 300 dollars. It came down to the cannon A20, the Nikon Coolpix 775, and the Sony P50. I was undecided till a friend of mine let me use his Sony and it has been love ever since....

Good Pics. Bad Flash

by dakers , Jun 18 '03
Pros: Quick and dirty, good number of features for the $$.
Cons: Flash use is annoying... delays actual picture taking.
This is a pretty good camera for the money which boasts a number of usable features. 2.1 pix and interchangable memory cards make for an easy way to get lots of snapshots at a reasonable quality.

I use this for taking everyday pictures of...

The Adventures of Cybershot DSC-P50!

by bigjon , Jan 28 '02
Pros: Great picture quality, awesome features, small, compact, light
Cons: Very pricey (must have) acessories
My first digital camera...I have used digital cameras before, and out of all of them, this camera was the easiest to use. Anything Sony tends to be very easy to operate.

After installing the batteries it was just a simple time/date...

Great camera for the price

by akmiller50 , Jun 24 '02
Pros: Sony picture quality, Cool filters, Movie feature
Cons: Pricey must-have accessories
I purchased this camera about a month ago, because I was sick of buying expensive film and ending up with pictures that didnt come out right or not at all. The Sony DSC-P50 is the answer for the amateur photographer who wants an easy to use camera, that...

Good Camera, but Just a Stepping Stone in my Digi-cam Addiction!

by oyobass , Feb 21 '02
Pros: Sony quality. Ease of use. Decent pictures. Loads of fun.
Cons: Eats batteries at a tremendous rate slow shot to shot recovery
Let me start by saying I am no pro photographer, but this is the third digital camera I have used in the course of doing my job/taking creative shots after hours. I have seen a progression in quality of output in each camera, (all Sony, by the way) and...

What you expect from Sony.

by ben5150 , Dec 30 '01
Pros: User friendly camera with excellent daytime photo quality.
Cons: Stamina battery and 64MB memory stick a must!! Starts to get expensive.
My wife and I travel quite often. I always forget to bring the camera or if I do, I don't take many pictures or develop the film when returning home. I'm glued to my laptop at least 3-4 hours a day and thought a digital camera would be the ticket. ...

I never leave home without it

by sujal , Feb 16 '02
Pros: size, daytime quality, adjustability
Cons: slow cycle time, cost (accessories), night shots
This is my first digital camera (though I've used ones borrowed from co-workers). I'm generally very happy with this camera, and recommend it and other, newer Cybershot cameras to friends.

As the other reviews have pointed out, the cost of...

Good Features, Great Price

by turn3065 , Oct 30 '02
Pros: Price, large LCD, Easy operation
Cons: Short Battery Life, picture loading time
This is an excellent camera for beginners. I only regret that I had spent more money on a camera with higher resolution. I bought it last Christmas, and have fallen in love with Sony digital cameras. Now that I know more about them, I'm going to...

Money pit camera!

by polarpooch , Jun 04 '02
Pros: 2.1 megapixels, long 6x zoom, macro setting, adjustable resolution, small, lightweight
Cons: Abyssmal battery life. Tiny LCD screen, flash takes time to charge
Overall, it's a nice camera. I was lured by the sale price at a local camera store ($250...seemed GREAT for a 2.1 mp camera!!) I love the long 6x zoom, the multiple resolution settings, the macro feature, the easy to understand menu on the LCD. Any...
