Pros: Compatible with just everything so far. Cons: Trying to show relatives how to use it when they are babysitting the kids. ;-)
First off, I have to say that a year ago I thought the hubby was crazy for spending $100 on a remote but, like the Roomba, it was worth it. It's a very cool looking remote and does everything Sony says it does. My hubby has lots of gadgets from various ...

Pros: Learn Feature, Macros, changing LCD. Cons: Price, LCD Finish, Buttons not backlit
Let me start off by saying that originally I was content with my dishs universal remote. It controlled my TV, dish, and VCR. The only thing it wouldnt control was my DVD (KLH) player. But last year, as a birthday present, my wife bought me a...

Pros: Controls up to 18 devices, easily programmable, great bragging rights for husbands! Cons: Very large, heavy, awkward-feeling. Drastically over-priced in well-known electronics retailers.
After agonizing for a month over what to get my dear husband for a second wedding anniversary gift, a close friend told me about this incredible universal remote control. She warned me that it was quite pricey (retails for about $200 at Circuit City and...

Pros: Sleek, easily programmable, universal in every way, compatible with everything Cons: Requires 4 AA batteries, could use glow in the dark buttons
A friend of mine introduced me to this remote a few weeks ago and I was amazed at how practical and easy it was to operate. At first it looks complicated and the first question that comes to mind is compatibility with non-Sony products, but once you ...

Pros: Excellent Hard Buttons
Easy to Set Up
Great Custom Features Cons: Big for One Hand Use
Sucker if Purchased from Best Buy
I've been around Sony's Commander line for a few years. Both of my brothers have the two previous models. When I saw this model come out I had to take a look since it is the biggest improvement the past few years. Sony added more hard buttons to the...

Pros: Very programmable, Good Battery Life, Good price for what it does, Looks cool. Cons: Weight, Size, a few minor glitches.
I went looking for an integrated remote for a few reasons:
1) Fumbling with 3 remotes just to watch a DVD was getting tiring.
2) The gadget factor.
I considered a few other remotes before choosing the Sony. (Philips, Kenwood,...

Pros: Does pretty much everything. Hard directional keys. Backlighting can be set to automatic now. Cons: Proudly displays fingerprints on the touchscreen, manual is terrible.
Two years ago I wrote a review here for the RM-AV2100. Since that time the "2100" has performed flawlessly for me, until a week ago when my son spilled a large cup of water on it and didn't inform me immediately, so it soaked for a while. I thought it...

Pros: Looks hi-tech Cons: Poor screen contrast, doesn't work with other Sony components
All my components are Sony except for my digital cable box. My biggest disappointment was over the lack of support for my Sony DAV-C990 receiver/DVD changer. I guess none of the Dream Systems are directly supported. None of the preset codes supported...

Pros: Excellent Spouse rating Cons: Manual must have been translated from a bad Japanese movie
The Sony RM-AV3000 was designed with Home Theater in mind. It does everything, including dim the lights! Don't worry about the poorly written User's Manual. There is an excellent forum online at RemoteCentral.com, that will answer all of your questions....

Pros: Easy to use, It can learn from your other remotes! Can do anything! Cons: Finger prints on screen, need backlight to view screen easily.
I had 6 remotes, now I only have (or need) one! This remote is fantastic!! And easy to use, it can learn from your other remotes, which is great because you can get to your components menu functions. The components that are in my system are as...

Pros: Does what it claims to do: remote control several devices Cons: Pricey, battery sucker, 2-hand operation, awkward, heavy, hard to use by touch alone.
I'm posting a review basically comparing two Sony all-in-one remotes: the RM-AV3000 and the RM-VL1000. I originally purchased the larger, lcd-touch-screen RM-AV3000 (or equivalent) a few years ago for all the reasons people get an all-in-one: to cut ...

Pros: Macros are powerful, but not the best. channel and volume are conventional buttons. Cons: Does not work well with home theaters, even Sony's DAVC 770.
Either the remote doenst work well with their own home theaters, or their customer support is horrible. I have tried the Sony website extensively for information, as well as the manual, but there is no information on getting it to control a hybrid...

Pros: Looks great, easy to program Cons: A little big
I bought it from PCMall for $109. Took it out of the box and was impressed with it's looks albeit a little on the big side. It's slightly larger than a cd case. It looks great on the coffee table and I'm sure it will be conversation piece.

Pros: Very powerful, programmable, with almost infinite possibilities. Cons: Not the original factory remote.
Universal remotes are getting closer and closer to perfect. However, as they get closer, their price seems to keep going up and up. This one from Sony offers numerous programmable features, as well as macros to do what would have taken several different...
