Pros: Luxurious, elegant and comfortable. Wonderful location in D.C. Cons: Pricey. But worth it.
My family and I took a nine-day trip to Washington, D.C. to see our nation's capital. Since we were going to be there for a bit of time, nice accommodations were paramount. But D.C. is an expensive town, so I had to find a hotel in a nice area, convenie ...
Pros: Historic hotel across from the best address in town Cons: The cost can be prohibitive if you do not get a discount
The Hay-Adams sits on some of the best real-estate in Washington. Built on the site of the mansion of John Hay, it is directly across from the White House.

The Hay-Adams is a historic property located two blocks from the White House in Washington, DC. The Hay-Adams is a small hotel that capitalizes on its strengths (location and class) and tries to minimize its weaknesses (small rooms and lack of...
Pros: Excellent service; fantastic location; spectacular view of the White House from certain rooms. Cons: Room size.
My wife was recently invited to a conference in Washington, D.C. Her company was paying for her lodging so I decided to take advantage and tag along. I had never heard of the hotel before, but I had never spent much time in D.C. and did not know ...
Such a lovely old hotel that has been refurbished in the ultimate good taste. The lobby is beautiful with richly detailed wood paneling with gilt bronze accents. Desk staff suggested we upgrade for a better view-- of historic yellow church across ...

This hotel is my favorite place to stay in Washington. Situated across from the White House and frequented by Washington politicos, it offers a true picture of the city unfettered by regular tourists and monument gawkers. You really can get a sense of...
Great but check-in was a bit off by iesosa ,Oct 20 '06
Pros: Location and beautiful rooms plus free wifi Cons: No gym
We checked in at 2:45pm and were told by the reception that our room was ready but needed to be "inspected". We are asked if we wanted tea while we wait. 30 minutes later there was no tea and no room. Exasperated, I told them to give us whatever room was inspected. Waiting in the lobby was ok but we were tired and wanted to be in our room. Well, we finally checked into our beautiful if a bit small room facing St. John's church. The king bed was fabulous with a big down comforter and down pillows. The bathroom was small but luxurious. The room was elegantly furnished with antique reproductions. The TV was not plasma. There is no health club. You are allowed to use a nearby gym but I did not bother to use it, The downstairs restaurant serves a great breakfast and lunch overlooking Lafayette Park. The Amex Platinum gives you a free continental breakfast for two, a two course lunch on one day and guaranteed 4:pm check-out. Also a room upgrade if available. There was free wifi everywhere including in the rooms.
