Pros: Good reliability, fair base price, quick setup, high configurability, includes ensim management utility. Cons: Technical support, Tech and incident support pricing structure.
Intro I was on the starter dedicated hosting plan with Valueweb paying $79.99 per month. I also paid an additional charge of about $10 for about six additional usable IP addresses. Setup Setup was fairly quick and took less than ...

Value is right
by johnson111 ,Apr 03 '08
Pros: Cheap Cons: Unreliable, Poor tech support
Value web is fine for personal servers or non-mission critical applications but do not risk your business here. Most of the time our servers are up but we have had a number of issues that are beyond them. First was an extremely botched data center move. Our problem for the last month was a routing issue. Basically we can't get to our servers for 30mins to 1.5hrs usually during the afternoons for the last few weeks. We typically can't get to it from multiple locations around the world but not all. Our other hosting provider provided a very technical analysis that pointed at ValueWeb's border router. ValueWeb's tech support acknowledges the existing of the problem and its affect on hundreds of customers. Then they claim its an outside issue with Verizon. All I know is that I can't ping my machine from multiple points on the globe (including none Verizon networks) and to me that points the finger at them or their network suppliers. It should also be noted that their machine configurations and other services are somewhate limited and more suitable to simpler applications. You get what you pay for.

Valueweb is giving me a headache
by epinioner13 ,Apr 04 '07
Pros: has held our domain name Cons: Link to customer service didn't work at all.
I've spent the last 1/2 hour trying to figure out how to pay in advance or how much it is costing per year for them to be our registrar. Sure the website has a lot of tools, but the important things like what we're paying and what we're getting for it are available. Apparently they did an authomatic withdrawl from my boss' bank recently for $35, but that's all I have been able to figure out. I think this is their strategy.

valueweb dedicated servers
by hortonman ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: none Cons: expensive for what you get, bad customer service, bad tech support
I have been a client of valueweb for almost 2 years, it's all good when the servers work, but the customer and technical service is really bad, I run around 10 sites on the server in took their techs 4 hours to basically turn off the firewall and reboot my server.
When you call it takes forever to get a tech to help you, and when you get to talk to them they hardly speak good English, on top of all this there a ridiculous charges of $75 for any basic repairs on the server.

Stay away
by gpooh ,Aug 01 '06
Pros: funny Cons: Poor, inept and unresponsive support.
Absolutely horrible. We chose them because they had this great backup utility - that continually went down and was unavailable. Then when we had a system failure, they said they couldn't even access the backup unless the server was up. Then we requested the drives to be shipped to us - 3 days later they have no record of the request. Hopefully we will get our data back eventually. Stay away.
