Vivitar ViviCam 3315 Digital Camera - Good Camera For A Little Money

by kelly60 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jan 19 '04
Pros: Good quality pictures, easy to use, inexpensive.
Cons: Goes through batteries somewhat quickly, however an optional adapter is available to purchase separately.
I bought my Vivitar ViviCam 3315 Digital Camera because I needed an inexpensive digital camera for work. I needed something small, but I also needed to be able to take fairly good quality pictures. A professional photographer who was in the ...

What an utter POS

by deadcoil , Apr 20 '03
Pros: Excellent resolution and color, very user friendly, very little shutter lag.
Cons: No included AC adapter, the whole "doesn't freakin' work" thing is a big con too.
If there's one thing I dislike more than a bad piece of electronics, it's a piece of hardware that works beautifully for a little while, then breaks in a way that makes it less than usable.

Case in point would be my Vivitar 3315.

I...

Decent for home use, but has low battery life

by mikehayman , May 09 '03
Pros: Image Quality, Compact Size, Easy-to-Use Menu
Cons: Battery Life, Durability, Focus Range, No AC Adapter
I acquired this camera as a Christmas present in 2002. At first I was extremely excited at finally getting a good camera, as my previous camera was just an Intel webcam. Naturally, it was the first new toy I played with.

First Look...

This is the crappiest camera. EVER.

by quirkyqueen13 , Jul 19 '06
Pros: Deletes pictures easily, Easy to figure out it's "features"
Cons: Look above.
Okay, let's start with how SUCKY this camera is. I've had it for two years and couldn't be more miserable with this thing. My friends make FUN of me for it. "Oh, we have to use THAT thing?!" It can't take a good picture for crap. I went on vacation ...

Little to recommend, better available for not much more $

by steviedee , May 02 '03
Pros: Cheap, has timer, nice case
Cons: Focus range begins at 4 feet, lens unprotected.
I bought the Vivitar 3315 for $98.62 at Wal-mart. I have since returned it and replaced it for with the Vivitar 2.1 MP 3625 for $132.73. The picture quality was too blurry from the 3315 - even when using a Tripod from 29 inches away. Turns out the focus...

Good Pictures and Video from a Cheap Battery Killer!!

by gallianowebb , Apr 27 '03
Pros: good quality pictures and .avi video considering resolution and cons!
Cons: Battery Life, durability, stubborn device, slow start up time, LCD is not 1.6!!!
This was a birthday present last March right after I broke my IZOOM 75 Olympus Advantix Stylus (another crappy camera) in Florida whiles on vacation.

For my first Digi-Cam I was excited at first. The LCD was bright and crisp at 1.4 inches not...

There are better cameras for the money.

by todd677 , Dec 11 '03
Pros: Software worked (particularly the panorama software).
Cons: Fuzzy spots in pictures. EATS Batteries! No customer service.
First off, I did not buy this product. It was a gift from my company for my twenty years of service! I won't comment who got the better end of that deal. It was my first digital though so I was anxious to try it out. I was a bit disappointed that ...

First Impression

by vrast , Dec 13 '02
Pros: Nice camera, good packaging, small
Cons: No lens cover
OK, so I went wrong with the Argus DC3200. I bought the Vivitar from CVS' web site via a special offer. Received it by mail within a couple of days. The initial impression is good - the camera comes well packed and is inside a small bag that looks like a...

Eats batteries

by perryp , Apr 17 '07
Pros: many features for sub $100
Cons: Eats batteries
I needed an inexpensive digital cam for work. Most cams at Walmart are in the $120-$200 range. This one was at a price I was willing to pay. But it has its short comings. I find it annoying to keep changing batteries because the cam only takes 10 to ...

Highly priced for a poorly powered Camera

by hypnoticangel , Jun 02 '03
Pros: Ease of use, High Quality Images, Very small and appealing
Cons: Poor Battery Life and no AC Adapter Included
You might find this camera useful, but don’t let its quality drain the facts from you -- and I mean that literally. It is one of the best (if not the best) cameras to have when it comes to high impact quality images that captures in the light of day....

Very nice little camera

by bogadoa , Apr 29 '03
Pros: Great color and resolution, good resolution on avi video.
Cons: A bit slow to start and between pictures, uses a lot of battery.
I've been using it for a while, I carry it around with me to take pictures of things we do at work, it has fallen a few times and it still works great. Without the memory card it takes very few pictures but other than that I think that it's right what I...

Good overall, but lacks a lens cap

by brucedt , Jan 15 '03
Pros: Good Pix in strong light. Priced right.
Cons: No lens cover
I had been looking at digital cameras and bought this as an impulse without examining it closely at the store. Once I had opened it and examined it, I discovered that it lacked any sort of lens cap. I babied it for a week or two to see how it worked...

JUST TAKE THE PICTURE!! But I cannot.........
by lollyspecial ,Jan 07 '05
Pros: This isn't the only camera vivitar makes
Cons: Battery hog, bulky, bad internal memory.
After buying this camera, I was disappointed to see that it was hard to focus the LCD screen. It goes through batteries so fast that when you travel, you need to carry around about six (three changes) for an outing for a few hours. Another thing is, you have to buy memory cards to get this particular camera to take more than about 35 high quality (not really) pictures. The pictures that were supposedly "high quality" pictures appeared blurry. If you choose the "AUTO" function, it is supposed to adjust the setting to fit the setting. I found that this function had the flash going off in broad daylight, and not going off in plain dark. The lens is also unprotected, and gets scratched very easily. It is also big and bulky, not something you can slip in a handbag and go.

If it can live through 100+ moshpits...
by moonlights ,Nov 21 '04
Pros: good outdoor pictures, very durable
Cons: blurs easy, doesn't handle weird lighting well
I bought this camera in October 2003. I wanted a digital camera, I didn't have anything specific that I wanted to take pictures of. However, I started bringing it along to every concert I went to - everything from Story of the Year to little local bands. I'm pretty good about getting up front, and the 2x zoom was more than enough from how close I usually was.

Now, while the pictures blurred pretty easily and the camera didn't handle the weird lighting some venues have well AT ALL, I've got to give it credit for surviving through many, many, many moshpits, through crowd surfing, and even through Warped Tour - while extremely scratched now, it still works perfectly. It's even been kicked and dropped multiple times (let's just say I'm clumsy).

The pictures it takes outdoor turn out beautifully. It just doesn't handle weird lighting well. Also, the flash is really, really strong - meaning, people get washed out if they're within, oh, 6 feet of you.

If you're looking for a cheap camera that you're not going to use in dark places, this would be fine...especially if it's going to get beat up.
