Pros: Precise, sharp handling, great cornering Cons: You may have to order this tire
You'd think from noticing my Epinions name that I drive a Honda CRX. Well, I did years ago (in fact I've had 3 Honda CRX's since 1985) and still regret the day I got rid of the little red rocket car. I now drive a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier Rally Sport, ...
Pros: Phenomenal wet traction and great dry traction. Cons: Easy to ruin at autocross due to 15psi maximum inflation pressure.
I purchased the Yokohama Avid H4 tires --195 60HR15-- when my stock Goodyear Eagle RS-A's on my 2001 Neon ACR began to go bald around 18,000 miles. It was the best purchase i've ever made for my car. The Avid H4 resists hydroplaning better than ...
Pros: Inexpensive, durable, all weather tire. Cons: There are no cons.
After much debate, I decided to try the Yokohama Avid H4 tire for my 2002 RSX Type S. The price was right and many people in my RSX club recommended them. I paid $77 each for them at Tirerack.com and they were delivered within 3 days to my local tire ...
Pros: Excellent stability on wet or dry roads. Good value for the price. Cons: The ride is a little harsh. Gravel tends to get stuck in the grooves.
First a little background information about me. I put a lot of miles on my cars (approximately 40,000 per year) and most of those miles are hard ones. I'm the type of person who pushes a car hard and expects it to respond. For many years now I used...
Pros: Low cost, superior grip for touring tires, quiet/soft ride, predictable breakwaway Cons: very soft sidewalls resulting in extra body roll
If by chance you've read my other tire reviews, you'll see that my reviews are pretty well regarded as VERY HELPFUL. Not that that should sway your opinion on anything I write, but it vindicates my opinion, at least in my own mind.
Pros: Yokohama quality, performance, excellent wet and dry traction Cons: average life of tire is approx. 40k
First off, the size tires on my 96 VW Jetta Trek are Yokohama Avid H4 P195/60HR-14. I have found these tires to be far superior to the OE Goodyear Eagle GA's that I lived with for almost 40k. I had some experience with the Yokohama name on my 95 Mazda...
I purchased a set of four Avid H4 tires based on the solid recommendations I read right here on epinions.com. Unfortunately, I haven't been impressed. Car: 2001 Honda Civic EX 4 door. Handling: No doubt about it, the H4 is a sticky tire. ...
Pros: QUIET, great performer, very smooth ride and reasonable for the price. Cons: So far after a year I have not found a complaint.
To begin with, I must qualify myself. I am presently retired, former 20 year career in US Army, aircraft maintenance, 2 tours in Vietnam, second career of teaching of which I am also retired from. I taught automotive technology at a local vocational ...
Pros: Excellent response with a smooth ride. Cons: Excellent wet and dry traction but average snow traction.
The AVID H4 is an excellent H rated tire for the family sedan to a light performance vehicle. Although most of the vehicles with a O.E. requirement are coming from the imports, U.S. auto makers have been demanding the higher speed ratings on the ...
Pros: Great tire given price! Cons: Rain traction can be questioned sometimes, and NO snow traction.
Yokohama H4's are pretty great tires for such a low price. I have owned 2 sets now and I've been happy with the tires except for 2 certain occasions. I drive a mountain to work and school along with social activities and on one particular night I figured...
Pros: Very Cheap - Good looking tread Cons: Very Quick tread wear!
I put these on my car and had to replace them the same year! It was terrible! Within 4 months I noticed a large significance of treadwear (ei. 60% bald). My driving was a little ruff my my car is a 12 year old stock 75 horsepower hatchback. So you...
Pros: economical, quiet, versatile Cons: none found yet.
I bought a set of 4 205/60-15 AVID for my 1990 Acura with 155K miles. It now has 162K after a cross-country round trip. I wrung the tires out on the Independence Pass ( Colorado HiWay 82) up to 12,000 feet. They were a joy to drive at the limit. Other people did not like them on smaller cars but they are great on the heavier Acura.
