Got this DVD player with Home entertainment system (MX995D).
Advertises that it plays CD-R's, VCD's etc but actually doesn't (says so right in the manual).
Also once the player gets hot it will start skipping (DVD's), took it back and got...

Pros: None! So bad, I actually destroyed it rather than donate it to charity.
Cons: Skips, freezes, doesn't play DVDs. EVER!

Please do not buy this DVD player! The Philips 782CH is a total piece of garbage--just go to amazon.com and look at the reviews it's received. I wrote a review on there myself. Out of 27 reviews to date, it has an average of one star, and that's only because we can't give it no stars! The worst thing is, Philips will ignore your complaints. Most people have stated that rather than waste more time/money to get it fixed, they have just thrown it away. I am boycotting all Philips products--after spending $200 on this piece of garbage, they will never get another dime from me!

Purchased this unit with home theatre set up from Bose... Company is terrible to deal with. This is now my third unit and it still freezes up after an hour of viewing. Don't buy it.... I am currently looking for another brand name....

Great for a gift for someone as a wedding present who's honeymoon is not over. I would recommend this product to anyone who is tired of getting up to change movies. You can sit and watch movies from your bed or couch without moving. Now that's as easy as pie.
