A Technocrat's Nirvana ... and Novice's nightmare ?

Pros: Excellent sounding amplifiers with no sonic grain. Super flexibility
Cons: Very complicated setup, not easy to squeeze out full capability.
I recently was asked to help a good friend buy a new stereo / home theater setup and set out first to buy a good receiver that will hold up to not only the dynamic demands of home theater, but be acceptable to pretty discerning ears on the music side....

Pros: Easy to use, Newcomers will not feel intimidated
Cons: As you start wanting more from a receiver, you will feel limited.
I have had this receiver for about 2 years now and I have been very happy with it. The quality is very good and the 5 channel setup is more than what I had hoped for.
