Pros: Gas Mileage, mechanical stability, leg room Cons: Slow, doesn't have hardly enough horsepower. The Bottom Line: Recommended for starters. If you had the option to buy one, I'd definitely say try test driving it. It might just surprise you!
This was my first car. I bought it used in January 2005 and just sold it September 2007. For the most part, it was a pretty reliable car. There were only a few problems that made me scratch my head wondering. The belts had a problem of "squealing"... ...

Pros: Great running, great gas mileage, sturdy engine that has taken a beating. Cons: Front brakes wear out quickly but are easily and cheaply changed on your own. The Bottom Line: Absolutely the best car for the money and economy
Sturdy, had two minor accidents and only the bumper is a little bent on one side. Agree with the guy above that the cupholders get in the way a little. Has handled road trips, cross country trips and long 5-6 day a week hauls to work and back with out ...

Reading couple bad reviews above,I felt like saying this: I bought a 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE in summer of 2003.It had 93K miles. Since then I put 30K miles(!!!!) on it without having ANY mechanical problems of any kind.I did not pay much for it since ...

Pros: Reliable, stylish. Cons: I think it's as good a car as you can get at this age. The Bottom Line: I think this is an underrated car. Very reliable, nicely appointed, many extras.
I've own Sentras for ever. My first car was an 86 Sentra back when it was a tiny, fuel-efficient model. The 96 is a good choice for an older vehicle. I still own mine. I bought it in 97 with 30,000 miles. Let's have a look at what you should get ...

Pros: inexpensive, pretty good on gas, fairly comfortable Cons: noisy, minor mechanical difficulties The Bottom Line: I would by a civic instead, for the extra money I think you would get your moneys worth.
We bought the car for $5000, a 1996 GXE with about 50k miles on it. It had been in a minor fender bender and was repaired. The car currently has about 76k miles on it. The alternator went out at about 60k, we were told that it was built small and ran...

Pros: Reliable, Good gas mileage, Quiet Cons: Slow, poor shifting, interior The Bottom Line: If you cannot afford a Honda Civic, this is a good choice.
In December 2002 my '92 Pontiac Bonneville's transmission died. The Pontiac had 163k on it and had many more minor problems with it, enough that I decided to scrap it and get another car. My mother used to work for a Nissan dealership, and it was there I...

Pros: Economical, Very Reliable, Excellent Handling, A GREAT Small Car! Cons: Small cabin and trunk, road noise on the highway, the worst ever cup holders! The Bottom Line: One of the BEST modestly priced imports available. If you are looking for an economical, reliable car then you must look at a Sentra!
After almost 175,000 miles on its original motor and tranny, what more can I say about this car? It is absolutely one of the finest cars I have had the pleasure of owning and, I have owned quite a few to know the difference. This is one of the most...

I just bought my Nissan Sentra two weeks ago and i have not had one problem with it since. It is a dark burgandy with no fading whatsoever which is great for a 96. It has every option imaginable and its a manual what more could u ask for.

Pros: Good enough car for single, road-trip obsessed person like me. Cons: Not so good for road trip obsessed families or anyone with kids The Bottom Line: Do I own it? Well.. once I paid for it and get my darn ex off the title, I assume I will.
If you're looking for a review on any of the technical information on this car, I have to disappoint you. I know about as much about the technical bits of this car as I do about the Hubbel Telescope .. on a clear night I might remember where it stands....

Pros: Cute, Compact and affordable Cons: Small Trunk, some mechanical problems, small engine power. The Bottom Line: If you can't afford an Acura, then the Sentra is a decent replacement. It's a good commuter car, or first car.
I used to drive an old beat up Truck that really only was comfortable and fun for me, because I was driving. One day I just got fed up with all of the break downs, so I went to the Nissan dealership and bought a used 96 Sentra 4 door color teal. I was...

Pros: It is a Nissan; reliable; handles well. Cons: Trunk is on the small size; cupholders are in a bad place. The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this car if you can find one. I found it comfortable and I thought it handled very well.
A little background. My daughter has been driving a 1988 Nissan Maxima for several years. It was a family hand-me- down and was a great car. At 80,000 miles she was faced with $2,000 in repairs last December. Given the age of the car and in spite of...

Pros: Good Value, great gas mileage Cons: lack of power in heavy acceleration
I bought this car after high school graduation, and it has served me well for all of the 80,000 miles I have driven it. It's combination of great gas mileage (30-37 mpg), and ultimate reliability made this car the perfect choice for a first car. The...

Pros: Interior Accessories Cons: The car itself
Nissan did it again. The 1996 Nissan Sentra is an okay car for the average Joe, but not for the average person. From the outside, one would think that the car was somewhat good to drive, but let me tell you... its so fun at all.
Nissan built this...
