Pros: Nice engine, attractive styling, quiet ride, lots of fun. Cons: I prefer to call it "GV" instead of "Grand Vitara." Weak stereo, so-so tires. The Bottom Line: Alas, I had to sell my GV as I needed something bigger. Still, this little SUV brought me many months of joy, and I still recommend it.
When the Suzuki Grand Vitara made its debut in 1999, I was at first wary of the new model...
For starters, what was up with the name? For those who are wondering, "Vitara" has no meaning in any language. It is like the Oldsmobile...

Pros: Fun to drive - agile and responsive Cons: Interior plastic scratches easily
My Grand Vitara is the 3rd 4 wheel drive vehicle I have owned. I was driving a 4 door sedan when I started looking at the small SUV's, and test drove the Honda CRV, Toyota RAV-4 and the Kia Sportage. First impressions are everything! I'm 5'8" and a...

Pros: Standard V6, and loaded with features Cons: very little rear passenger room
I used to sell the Suzuki Grand Vitara and I can tell you I was always happy to see one drive off our lot. I knew my customer would have a good vehicle. I knew they were happy with the price and I knew I would never hear anything back about my customer...

Pros: Value, styling, "little extras" like cruise and AC, peppy. Cons: Mileage, no "you're almost out of gas" light
(I've revised this opinion slightly after this vehicle was totalled, courtesy of another driver who made a left turn directly in front of me in September 2000.)
I'm glad I chose my 4WD JLX+ Grand Vitara in May 1999 for a tad under $20k, all...

Pros: Well-priced, good looks, pretty fast, good gas mileage Cons: Questionable reliability, smallness takes away a few creature comforts
I've don't get to drive this car very much, it's not mine. But, I still get occasional use of it, so I feel qualified to review it.
I really like this SUV! It's sporty feeling, gets better-than-average gas mileage, and has...

Pros: Well thought out, tough package that suites the needs of budget conscious weekend warriors. Cons: May be too small for some. Magnifies the little inconveniences associated with SUV type vehicles.
I had been looking for an SUV for some time and researched extensively the many possibilities that I was considering. My conclusion was that the Suzuki Grand Vitara almost perfectly fit what I was looking for in a new vehicle. Previously I have owned an...

Pros: Car-like driving with hauling capacity Cons: Cup-holders from the Drivers perspective
My husband and I researched several mini-suv's looking for a vehicle that would give us hauling capacity without having me (as primary driver) deal with the larger vehicle size found in the Explorer and Jeep. I love the size of this vehicle it is...

Pros: Excellent small SUV with true off-road ability Cons: Miserable dealership network
The Suzuki Grand Vitara has stood alone for it's first two years of manufacture; it has remained the standout product in the Mini-SUV market. It's high-torque V6 engine is extremely quiet and smooth running, the unusual single A-Arm front suspension...

Pros: Price, Exterior Looks, Handling, Visibility Cons: Leg room, Power The Bottom Line: Nice recommendable truck for the single guy/gal or newly married couple. I am married with two kids and this truck is a bit too un-roomy for us.
I have a 99 Suzuki Vitara. I purchased this SUV in April of 2001 with only 23,000 miles on it. Since I've had this truck I have been very glad with its handling.
Vitara comes with a 4cyl 2.0 engine. One has the option of Auto or Manuel....

Pros: Fun To Drive Cons: Is a small vehicle
I was in the market for a new vehicle as my 93 Grand Caravan was getting to the point of needing a lot of maintenance. Also, I no longer need quite as large a vehicle as most of my driving since retiring was around town and Grand Caravans don't get that...

Pros: Quiet engine, rugged, roomy Cons: Slightly unreliable cruise control
My husband and I bought a Grand Vitara JLX in late July, and so far we love it.
The engine is very quiet, and since it's a V6, it has plenty of power for an SUV in its class. The other SUV's we test-drove had 4 cylinder engines, and the...
