Pros: Well thought out , strong suspension. Cons: Could use more alignment adjustments.
I have been a State of Michigan certified steering and suspension technician for almost 15 years, and certified in other areas for over 22 years. I have read many reviews on automobiles from aesthetic, interior, engine, warranty, options,...

Pros: Looks, safety, cost (w/o options), Volvo Dealer in Huntsville, AL Cons: High maintenance, reliability questionable, cost (w/options) The Bottom Line: A safe, decent car w/o the bells and whistles, but fairly high maintenance. If you want more options, look elsewhere.
Having spent many days surfing the brickboard website, it has become painfully obvious that most Volvo owners are incredibly biased. They either flat out hate em or they love em like a child.
I have been a Toyota man all of my life...

Pros: Zippy, drives great, good lines Cons: rear spoiler can block view for short drivers, option package is limited, rear leg-room The Bottom Line: If you want a safe, smooth riding European car
get this one.
We were looking to get my wife a 4-door car for the possibility of future additions to the family. We looked at the Accord, Camary, Galant, and Altima. All of the cars had similar interior features that were nice. The interior of the S40 did not have the...

Pros: Nice styling (really!), As safe as you can get, Affordable alternative to the 3-series or A4 Cons: Could use 6 cylinders, manual transmission, firmer suspension, and a new brand image.
A four year old Volvo that looks positively modern? That’s the S40 sedan which has been on sale in Europe since 1996 with an excellent reliability and sales record. Volvo finally introduces what may be their most mainstream-appealing car to the States....

Pros: Easy to park, handles well, controls are easy Cons: Very tight in the back for any one but kids
I purchased a green, year 2000 Volvo S-40 last summer, and since last August I have put 8,000 miles on the car so I feel I now know the car enough to write a review on it.
The first thing you will notice about the car is that it is on the...

Pros: superb handling and wonderful driving experience Cons: the hassle of option packages
I just need to say one thing...Volvo has come a long way not only with quality but styling as well. I never thought that I would be saying that I love Volvo cars let alone want to drive one someday possibly as my own car. I used to always think when I...

Pros: It goes sometimes. Cons: NOT ENOUGH SPACE to type all of them!!!!!! The Bottom Line: bad rear brakes at 14,000 miles. Bad front brakes at 16,500. Oil leaks, cam shaft retimed, car starts and stops sometimes. Leaks, rattles, jerks
Feel free to read my first opinion, but please note that I have added additional information to the end of this opinion that you would really benefit from reading. I first wrote during the honeymoon period...and again I am updating this epinion... for a...

Pros: Slick design, drives like the S40 sedan, easy trunk access Cons: Less a wagon, more a hatchback; Still just a Volvo wagon to most people
Ah! The Volvo station wagon - the workhorse of the upper middle class suburbanite. I was sure that our 1983 240 would be destined to be my first car and that it would run until I died. (Fortunately, we moved out of the country and had to sell the car.)...

Pros: Great overall for a compact wagon, good engine and driving experience, quite economical Cons: Long-term quality The Bottom Line: A compact, good-looking and safe wagon with good road performance. Quality slightly under larger Volvos. Integrated children seats!
Note: This review applies to the European model of the car. Thus the price I have given is meaningless (different taxation, exchange rate).
This is my second Volvo and I have driven it for 2.5 years now. It replaced my sporty 480 because I...

Pros: Nice styling, powerful Cons: Steering and ride.
I've owned Volvos for years, and love the safety and reliability of the car, so that's where I headed first when I needed to re-up. I bought the S40 about 10 weeks ago after spending the morning at a local dealer and making one extensive test-drive. In...

Pros: Fun to drive, Aesthetically pleasing... Cons: No manual transmission, Ugly power antenna
After owning a Honda Civic for two years, I decided it was time to move up in the world. I perused brochures from Audi, Volkswagen, and Honda about the A4, Passat, and Accord V-6. All looked quite appealing, but none of them "felt" right to...

Pros: Sporty look and feel, great pickup for a 4 cylinder Cons: There is a very bad "blind spot" on the drivers side.
When referring to Volvo, most people know that it's considered one of the safest cars in the world. But, I think Volvo has much more to offer with the new S40 than just safety. For starters, the new S40 is more realistic in price range to those who...

Pros: styling and WHIPLASH seats Cons: backseat, need more power in low rpm, no manual transmission
I have driven my friend's Volvo S40 myself and I'm really amazed compare to what I once owned a Volvo 740 turbo. This car is a sleek, new looking Volvo ever. It's made for younger generation, the consumer group which Volvo has been missing for a...

Pros: Safety (or so they say); Engine; Foldable front passenger seat. Cons: Tiny; Horrible ergonomics.
First the bad news, then the good news. What we dislike most about the car are it's size and ergonomics. It even feels small compared to the Ford Escort we used to have (not to mention the more comparably priced Accord and Lumina). The interior is...
