Pros: Comfortable ride, great pick up and lots of room. Cons: Not much to looks at, got a poor on one crash test rating. The Bottom Line: This is a decent car. You get lots of features and size for the price. It handled well. I still have to call it average.
The 2001 Chevrolet Malibu was the third car we rented during out vacation in Hawaii. It had 27,558 miles on it. I am reviewing this as a layperson. I do not work at a car dealership, I am not a mechanic and I don't review cars as my job at...

Pros: Responsive family sedan... Cons: ...that doesn't do well in crash tests. The Bottom Line: Safety has to be the bottom line. The Malibu doesn't offer enough. Had I known then what I know now, I never would have driven it 10 weeks.
When I looked at the shattered plastic and twisted metal that minutes before had been my Saturn, I knew that a new vehicle was in my future. What I didn’t know was that the insurance company would insist on repairing this hulk of fused parts and...

Pros: Price, trunk space, interior room Cons: Firestone tries The Bottom Line: Chevy engineers have created a value priced sedan that neither excels or falls short.
When we made the decision to purchase a replacement family car for our aging Mercury Sable, the Malibu was not given much initial consideration. We researched, looked at and test-drove the majority of models competing for the family sedan market share....

Pros: Great, reliable and functional car that is a pleasure to drive, with pep, good price. Cons: Not as polished as other more expensive competing cars like Passat, Camry, Accord. The Bottom Line: A good $4,000 or $5,000 less than similarly equipped Camry, Accord, Passat. Consider the base model instead of the higher-priced LS; same car, but $5,000 less.
I bought mine new in the Spring, 2 years ago. I was initially thinking of a Camry or Accord, but stopped in at a Chevy dealer on a lark, just to see what was out there. 8 hours later, I drove out in a new Malibu at a great price. I have the base model ...

Pros: American made, good paint (so far), nice standard hubcaps Cons: American made, uncomfortable back seat, electrical problems The Bottom Line: It's a decent car. If you are looking to buy used, stay away from American. Go Toyota, that is really the only way to go on used cars.
I purchased a Chevy Malibu sedan from Lucas' Chevrolet in Woodbridge NJ. We've always had good exper ...

Pros: Price of Base Sedan, Roomy, Styling Cons: Extra Features Cost $$$, Power, Noise The Bottom Line: A fair family sedan that is outclassed by other makes. Families on a budget will love the base sedan's price and roomy interior.
The main advantage American cars have over their import counterparts is price. Most American cars offer more features at a lower price than Japanese or European cars. The Chevrolet Malibu does, in fact, offer many features at a fairly low price. The...

Pros: Solid feel, reasonably sharp handling, surprising bargain Cons: Noisy engine, ho-hum speakers, weak brakes The Bottom Line: The 5-star rating is based on value: Chevy gives more features and performance for $16,000 than you'll find elsewhere. But don't look for trendiness or glamour.
Nobody will mistake this midsize Chevy for a Park Avenue, IROC or Lexus, but for $16,000 it's a bargain worth some serious thought.
First off, you won't like the Malibu if you demand:
-- flamboyance, glamour or a trendy nameplate...

Pros: affordable V6 with good standard features. comfortable ride. Cons: instrument panel is not impressive looking and fake wood looks kinda tacky The Bottom Line: Very recommended for anyone looking for an affordable 4-door sedan with lots of nice features.
While my regular car was in the shop during a major accident, I had the pleasure to drive a 2001 Chevy Malibu for about a week as a rental. I guess compared to my normal car, a 97 Nissan Sentra, anything better would have been more enjoyable to drive....

Pros: Roomy, comfortable, climate control, interior design, ergonomics. Cons: None. The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car without reservation. It's everything you can hope for in a car.
I have for the last 10 years driven used Volvos. When the time came to buy a new car, I decided to check out Chevy's because I drive a Corsica as a company car and love it.
I am glad I did. We picked the Malibu because it was the...

Pros: Inexpensive, mid-size, very comfortable. Cons: Firestone 15 inch tires The Bottom Line: Highly recommend this car as it is very comfortable, has excellent safety features and is an overall good buy.
The first new car I bought was a 1966 Chevrolet Nova Station Wagon. I have owned a Chevy ever since. My son, who still lives at home, leased a 2000 Malibu about 18 months ago. I had leased a 1998 Cavalier, and although it was a nice car, it was too small...

Pros: Decent mileage, affordable, roomy interior Cons: Plain on the outside and inside The Bottom Line: I would recommend this vehicle because of the cost, durability, and fuel economy. A great vehicle.
I purchased my 2001 Chevy Malibu in July 2003 from an off-lease situation with about 32k miles. I made a great deal on it for only $8500 at a dealer in Nebraska. First I can say that this typical 3.1 liter V6 engine has more front-end horsepower ...

Pros: Good value, V6 power, modest styling. Cons: Interior cheap, rattles and buzzes. The Bottom Line: If you see one on the used market that appears to have been built on a "good day" at the plant, and the price is right, go for it.
I've been an owner and driver of a 2001 Chev Malibu for almost two years now. We were comparing it to the Chrysler Sebring and Ford Taurus. The Malibu seemed like a more substantial car than the Sebring, with its standard V6 power. And it was a better...

Pros: The best all around package. The most for my buck while not sacrificing eminence. Cons: Little problems here and there kept me returning to the dealership for minor repairs. The Bottom Line: I am glad that I found this car, because of it's excellency. It is not the best car, but it is the best rounded car. The Malibu for you!

Pros: Roomy interior, standard automatic V6, low price, easy to reach controls and radio Cons: keyless entry not standard, cruise control not standard The Bottom Line: Overall, the Malibu offers a great deal for its standard features. It is a good alternative to the more expensive mid-sized sedans in it's class.
The 2001 Malibu has many standard features for a lower priced mid-sized sedan. Although it is not as refined as an Accord, it is a good "bang for the buck." We originally were looking at the Civics, Neons, and Cougars and were not planning at looking...
