Pros: features, price, drivability Cons: a few minor ones (see review), acceleration The Bottom Line: This is a stylish, solid truck with great features and good value.
My 1995 Nissan King Cab served me well. Six years and it still ran great. But, sometimes you miss that new vehicle smell and feel. So, after surfing Carmax.com (see my review on this) I came across a 2001 Ranger XLT at a very good price and great ...

Pros: Nimble, handles well for a truck
Reliable, makes a good beater truck Cons: Choppy ride, underpowered, average fuel economy at best The Bottom Line: I reluctantly recommend this but only as a work truck. Its just too outdated for a personal vehicle. Next time I'll consider a Dodge Dakota.
I purchased my 2001 Ranger 2.5L new in the summer of '01 and it’s been a very dependable truck. However, it’s not without its faults. </p> 1.)Rough ride. Its bouncy ride is a constant reminder of how bad Michigan roads are. This combined ...

Pros: Price:Standard Ranger with no frills under $10000.Reliable.Economical. Cons: Underpowered for highway driving. Not suitable for more than 1 passenger. The Bottom Line: Good reliable and economical second vehicle for family or fleet truck for business. Would not recommend as primary family car.
I bought my 2001 Ford Ranger new last year to fill a basis need for a no-frills pick-up truck. The Ranger I bought was just that, a no frills vehicle. It has the 4-cylinder engine, standard transmission, vinyl seats and an AM-FM radio. It was also one of...

Pros: Great Compact Pickup Cons: No V-8.....Yet The Bottom Line: Bottom line, if you need a truck for light hauling or even some major hauling, this is the truck for you, and your budget.
I was in the market for a new vehicle for work. I wanted a pick-up, but didn't want to spend a lot. I had read about the Edge package in a magazine, but they only showed the 4.0, and it was out of my range. When I went to the dealer, told him what my...

Pros: Highly functional, reliable and affordable Cons: Not good for long road trips, really only good for two people The Bottom Line: This is a very affordable and functional truck for anyone who doesn't need a larger "hauling" truck. I haven't had any problems or factory malfunctions with the truck.
I purchased my 2001 Ford Ranger in December of 2000 and have been very satifsfied. My particular model is a "fleet" model, not the more common XLT version, however the pricing was significantly lowered. If plush seats, fancy pinstrips and hip rims...

Pros: 4x4 look, good audio, good power and performance Cons: slightly rougher ride
I am a big Ford fan and I have done some serious research on the new 2001 Ford Ranger. I learned that Ford has come up with a new trim package called the Edge that falls between XL and XLT packages. With this extra package a customer now has much more...

Pros: NICE TRUCK FOR THE BUCK. Cons: GAS MILAGE ISN'T GOOD WHEN LOOKING AT THE POWER SPECS The Bottom Line: The edge, the middle of the road in Rangers. Between the XL and XLT, it's a good truck for the mini truck catagory. Operating costs rival full sized trucks.
This was my second ranger. My Edge is a regular cab 2wd with a 3.0. Listed at $17221. It is a sharp little truck but the beauty is only skin deep. My truck is bad on gas 17hwy and 13 city. The horse power is awful 127 with after market add ons. It...

Pros: nice interior, good sound system, nice visibility from the inside Cons: none The Bottom Line: Don't buy this truck unless you're a small person.
I've had this truck for six months and it has yet to fail me. It gets great gas mileage and has an awesome sound system. The bed is big enough for my dirt bike and all of my camping gear for a week. It certainly is one of the best two wheel drive...

Pros: Great looks, rugged, comfy, great fuel economy, nice stereo, practical Cons: If you don't have the supercab, travellig with more than 2 can be a pain The Bottom Line: Great warranty, great looks, built Ford Tough! Highly recommend this truck. Great for everyday driving and the price is hard to beat.
I've always been a sports car fanatic. however, I wanted a change and, for the money, there isn't any sports car that I like and feel safe in. I used to be a car salesman so I know a lot of people in the business. A friend of mine at a Ford dealer turned...

Light Weight Bed

Pros: It is a pretty smooth ride for a mid-size truck unlike other trucks are ruff. Cons: The Ford Ranger is extremely light weight in the bed
The body is very smooth but not curvy. The bed seems to be separated almost to much but its not. Whether it is 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive it isn't to low to the ground which comes in handy.

Pros: Good for light to medium loads.
very good highway gas mileage. (for a truck)
Cons: Does not do very well with gas in the city.
I just got a used 2001 ford ranger 4-2 regular cab. I love it so very much. It has the 3.0 V-6 engine. It really is a step up for me. It has a lot of power to it. I kind of wish that I would have got the 4.0 V-6 in the edge.
I just have the Ranger XLT. It is everything I could wish for in a light Truck. This is my first truck I have owned and I am very happy with it. For anyone that needs a good trust worthy truck I would tell you the Ranger XLT 3.0 V-6 is the thing for you.
I love my Ranger....

Reliable inexpensive truck

Pros: Great price, stylish Cons: Rough ride, oil pressure light sticks
I bought my 2001 Ford Ranger Edge used from Carmax in April of 2005. It has proven to be a good little truck. The Edge model is quite stylish with its standard foglights and other bells and whistles. The jumper seats in the cab are the perfect size for my stepkids, but probably wouldn't do for a long trip.
I haven't had any problems with it thus far except that the oil pressure and temperature gauge stick when its cold. I drove a 2004 F-150 before buying this truck for work, and noticed that the ride (of course) is markedly rougher. The gas mileage is much better, which makes it all worth while. My truck now has 67,000 miles on it and is still going strong. I plan to get a good tune-up soon, and keep it as long as possible.
