Pros: Strong acceleration with 5.9 liter, Tons of room, Amenities. Cons: Hefty curb weight, Bad fuel economy, Could use more power. The Bottom Line: With a low price, many standard features, good looks, and performance to boot, this is a recommended SUV. The GMC envoy seems to be getting rave reviews, so check around.
Unashamedly based on the Dodge Dakota truck, the 2002 Dodge Durango SUV combines the best of 2 worlds; truck like strength and size, and car like comfort, ride, and relatively good handling. Although being based on the Dakota Truck, the ...

Pros: Spacious Interior, Comfy Seats, Truck Abilities, Lots of Options, 3rd Row Seats Cons: Poor Fuel Economy, Price, V8 Engines need More Power The Bottom Line: Those used to the car-like smoothness of a Lexus SUV will likely be put off by the Durangos truckishness. But truck virtues do have their place.
With so many SUVs on the market these days, it is hard to chose one over the other. Many look alike, and many are based on a car chassis rather than a truck chassis. In fact automobiles have become so homogenized, it is often hard to tell the difference...

Pros: Distinct looks, Just-right size, 3rd row bench, substancial feel, power Cons: poor fuel economy, more truck-like than most The Bottom Line: The Dodge Durango delivers what its looks promise. Powerful, sturdy, livable size, available 3rd row seat. Solid, but truck like.
With over 50(!!) SUVs available on the US market, and more coming, the Durango stands apart in its styling. It looks like nothing else. And unlike many of the mid-size and small import SUVs, it has plenty of muscle to back-up its stance. However, it...

Pros: Distinct looks, Just-right size, 3rd row bench, substantial feel, power Cons: poor fuel economy, more truck-like than most The Bottom Line: The Dodge Durango back up its rugged looks with a substantial feel and powerful engine. Its size is roomy, but still fits in a garage. Downside: very thirsty.

Pros: Everything (especially the leather captains chairs) Cons: Tape player, difficult second row levers, secured storage The Bottom Line: Get one. As a used car it will be reliable. Alot will probably be hitting the market, since the three year lease is almost up.
My Husband and I were looking for a medium-sized SUV with a third row seat, and at the time our only options were Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango. The Ford Dealers weren't budging very much on their price, so we decided to go to Huffines Lewisville. We ...

Pros: Aggressive sporty looks, powerful v8 engine, 8 passenger capability, cup-holders everywhere, best in class towing Cons: Thirsty engine, small gas tank. The Bottom Line: Highly recommended, great all around SUV.
Well, I've had the "D" for just over a year now. I leased it new with a sticker price of just under $36,000. It currently has 12,500 miles on it. The Durango is aggressive looking, and has the muscle to back it up. The seats are comfortable. When using th ...

Pros: Works hard, plays hard Cons: Fuel economy, brakes The Bottom Line: If your looking for a hard working mid size SUV, the Durango is a great. If your looking for a car like ride & great gas mileage, look else where.
I like the body style and stance of the Durango, Workmanship is good. I travel alot for work and the D really gives me a confident & safe feeling in any type of weather( live in Canada, so we get it all). We pull a 21ft holiday trailer and there is no...

Pros: Perfect size, roomy back seat, very large cargo area Cons: not much storage space under seats The Bottom Line: I would definitly recomend the Dodge Durango to every family whether they a small or large family.
When my husband and I originally thought about buying a mid size suv we really didn't know what to expect. We had one child that was just about out of a car seat, so size wasn't that much of a factor. We ended up choosing the Dodge Durango because of ...

Pros: Comfortable, powerful engine, turns sharp, rides well. Cons: Not reliable, needs constant expensive service. The Bottom Line: I would avoid one of these unless you like to spend money on repairs. I'm VERY disappointed.
We purchased this vehicle new in late 02. It was doing OK for the first 2 yrs, however it's engine noise is a little loud on the inside. It's very comfortable, even for long drives. Has plenty of power, even when full of people and kids going up big ...

Pros: Roomy interior, convenient controls, excellent handling and great sound system Cons: Poor Fuel Mileage The Bottom Line: If you want a roomy and comfortable SUV that drives much like a car, Durango RT is one smooth ride!!!!
After trading a small BMW for a SUV, I thought all the fun in driving would be lost forever.... NO WAY!!! The 2002 Dodge Durango RT hugs curves and is an absolute pleasure to drive. The seats are a comfy leather/suede combo that seem as if they conform...

Pros: Great styling, plenty of go, great handling. Cons: Alittle road "noisy". The Bottom Line: Can't beat the warranty, the power in its class and the handling!!!
I thought I was a Chevy man, until I test drove the Dodge Durango. I started with the chevy Trailblazer.. Nice and cuushhy, but the ride was muusheeee! Horrible handling!! Test drove the "blazer" Too small and a "pipsqueek" compared to the Trailblazer....

Pros: Very comfortable,4.7L has nice power, body style stands
apart from other SUV's. Cons: Some interior components seem cheaply made, the dash
and the rear fold down cargo flat.
2002 SLT purchased used in December 2006,34,000 original
miles, super clean for $13,999.00 from a local Ford Dealer
here in Boise, Idaho.
I have owned 2 Ford Explorers prior to the Durango and was
on my way to purchase my third when the salesman suggested
I test drive a Durango they had just received as a trade in.
Let me just say WOW! it was an awesome driving experience
compared to the Explorer...the Durango had it all, more
power, more comfort and a better overall ride, and if that
weren't enough my 4.7L V-8 gets as good as gas mileage as
the 4.0 V-6 Explorer but with way more zip!
I highly recommend the Durango...it's everything you want
and nothing you don't.

Pros: Plenty of power and great handling even at higher speeds. Cons: Gas Mileage (11 MPG CITY)
Ive had the Durango a little over a year now and it has about 10,000 miles on it. It had a minor problem with the computer but was quickly adjusted at the dealer. The Durango seems to have plenty power and braking ability. I chose the model with the anti slip differential and it makes a world of difference in mud/snow than the Durango models without it even in 4 wheel drive.
The Durango handles very well at low and high speeds with little or no sway or oversteer problems.
I purchased the Durango because my kids were getting a bit to big for our old SUV and for camping trips. Its extremely roomy inside and very comfortable.
The only drawback so far has been the lack of rain gutters or channels. Rolling down your window even in a light rain will get you wet quickly. I had to add Ventshields over the windows to remedy this (About 50$)
