Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: power, handling, room, noise insulation
Cons: control layout, storage,
The Bottom Line: Although dated, the Grand Marquis offers a good combination of power and comfort in a roomy package.

I've been in the back seat of a Mercury Grand Marquis (or to be more accurate, its twin, the Ford Crown Victoria) a few times in my life. I have to admit, though, I never noticed whether the seats are comfortable or whether there's much leg- or head...

Pros: Transparent powertrain, predictable handling, oodles of interior space, safety & dependability
Cons: Maneuverability issues inherent to large cars, live rear axle
The Bottom Line: The ultimate car for old fogeys. And if you're not old enough to be a fogey, it's got one hell of a back seat.

The Grand Marquis, like Ford's Crown Victoria stablemate, is one of the last true fullsize V8 sedans. With the demise of Chevrolet's Caprice in 1996, the Marquis became the only car in its class under $30,000.

2002 Mercury Grand Marquis - Good Dependable Car

Pros: It is roomy, dependable, comfortable, and the price was great!
Cons: It has a reputation for being an "old fogey" car. but I love it anyway!
I've owned my 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis for over 5 years now, and still love it. It has needed only basic maintenance, and has never had any major breakdowns. I prefer it's comfortable roominess, and dependability to a more pricey, fashionable, but smaller car. I would buy it again in a flash!

Pros: Just a great car
Cons: I have nothing bad to say about it.
I bought my Grand Marquis new in 2002 and last Friday I was T-boned by a driver (my error) hard enough to total that wonderful wonderful car. I unbuckled my seat belt and stepped out without a scratch. The car took the full impact as it was designed to do. It was a terrific car, never let me down, comfortable and got reasonably good mileage for the size of it. I will miss it.
