Pros: Excellent handling, acceleration and braking, good seats, creature comforts Cons: Strange interior, difficult to use iDrive and seat controls, over-assisted steering The Bottom Line: I would get the 2004 Audi A8L instead. If you have $80K, send me a check.
I got a chance to compare the BMW 745i with Mercedes-Benz S500 and the new 2004 Audi A8L when I atte ...

Pros: Comfortable seats,
ALL the bells and whistles,
Smooth, smooth, smooth,
Very quiet,
Build Quality Cons: iDrive,
Column shifter,
Some materials weren't up to the price tag
The Bottom Line: This is the most comfortable riding BMW in the world. Some of the technology is over the top. Build quality is excellent and the V-12 is smooth, quiet, and fast.
I took a 30 minute test drive as the driver and a 30 minute drive as a passenger during the BMW Susan G. Komen Ultimate Drive.
Overall the car was a piece of art. The engine was dead quiet even under full throttle. Wind noise was non-existent...

Pros: Top-notch performance, handling, and comfort Cons: Controversial styling and interior ergonomics The Bottom Line: If you value handling and performance in a top-of-line luxury car, then the BMW 7-Series might just be the car for you.
Introduced for the 2002 model year, the latest iteration of the BMW 7-Series has sparked intense controversy regarding its styling and interior features. Feelings are strong on both sides of these issues, but there is little doubt that BMW has created a ...

Pros: comfortable, luxury, loaded with toys and gadgets, heated steering in winter. Cons: service lack of knowlage of new product! silly flaws and bugs. The Bottom Line: If you can buy it than you should drive it!!!
Great car lots of toys!
I have now owned my 745i for almost 1.5 yrs. I was thrilled to say I was one of the first owners in my city! It had so many gadgets and toys that even James Bond would turn green! I must say I enjoy this car in almost every aspect except for the ...

Pros: Techological Advances, Styling, Performance, Interior. Cons: Computer Glitches
The Bottom Line: I recommend this car to anyone who can deal with minor problems, and who can afford it. And who has the patience to deal with the controversial iDrive.
My wife and I decided we wanted BMW's and we like the 2002-Present 7-Series. I test drove the BMW 760Li, and was immediately sold, I sat in the 760 for 30 minutes trying to figure out how to work the (at the time) infamous iDrive. All of the other ...

2004 745Li with luxury seating and Logic7

Pros: cutting edge Cons: weird for the sake of weirdness. poor fuel economy
this is a great albeit expensive car. The Idrive takes about a day to figure out and a week to master. My wife, who rarely drives the car figured out most things after a few short drives. It seems some of the controls such as the turn signals and climate controls are done in a peculiar fashion just to be different. The seats are great, once you figure out all the different buttons.
Lastly, the car drives like it is on rails. You do not realize how big and heavy this car is until you check the gas mileage and fill the 22 gallon tank. I would say that the BMW drives on the par with the MB 500S, and is not any more complicated to use after the first few days. I forgot to say that the voice command works well and I now do most things through voice command, rather than go through the Idrive

Pros: Reliable SOLID Cons: iDrive, heavy
traded in my 2000 MB S500 headache for my current 2003 BMW 745iL...
I've had the car for 9 months and it is beyond reliable. Solid car. But as a small woman, it is just too heavy for a chick...better suited for a man!
It is a wonderful car (except for that totally unnecessary iDrive!...LOL)

Pros: The new 7 handles like it's on rails... Cons: 0- Idrive rocks unless you're dumb
This car is awesome. If you can email and use basic PC functions then you can use the I-Drive. Funny thing is - I heard so many bad things about the I-Drive, then I actually played with it for 10 minutes. It's totally cool - this is where the future of automobile interfaces is headed. The interior is 2nd to only the Audi, but the Audi doesn't drive like this at all. This car handles like no luxury car has ever thought about it. Bottom line, get the logic 7, comfort and premium packages and rock n roll. You will not be disappointed.
