Pros: Very sleek, nice weight, many options available for all users alike. Cons: Could be cheaper, better made in case of dropping.
Great hand-held, very little, light, powerful, all you really need. So many options are available that make this
one of the best buys out there today. Very impressed with this machine from VISOR!
I got a handspring visor about 3 months ago. It has made me appreciate being busy. I never go anywhere without it, and I am almost scared it has become an obssesion. It is just so fun to play with! It has so many features, and the best one is that you...
Pros: just about everything Cons: can't add on the 3.5 os patch
the handspring visor is an excellent investment. it can do everything that the palm can do and more, it ships with additional software that i find very useful, and although it doesn't look anywhere nearly as sleek and cool as the palm V or the m100,...
Pros: Cheap, Bigger screen than PALM, Room for accesories Cons: Old model, only 2mb
I have this visor, and i love it. I was about to buy a palm m100, but then i saw this visor had a 30 rebate. Unfortonatly, that expired a while ago, thus making it more expensive than the Palm m100. What i did like better over the palm m100 was that...
Pros: Lots of memory, clearer display. Cons: Docking cradle not HW compatible with other palms.
I purchased the Handspring Visor Delux directly from Visor.
Runs most Palm software. I had to upgrade a couple of my old Palm III programs that didn't work well with the new Palm OS. Display is much clearer then my old PALM III, and is readable in...
Pros: Price, convenience, support Cons: 3rd party software
I've used my Handspring for half a year and am generally delighted. Two issues: 1. Installing some of the 3rd party software has been problematic. This is hardly Handspring's fault, but it is sometimes clunky to download and install programs....
Pros: its an excellent organizer, fax, email and overall product Cons: the base unit only comes in one color
I purchased the Visor to keep track of my job! I build custom homes and my truck was full of those yellow pads of paper and very un-organized.
The visor allows me to check email,Fax and keep track of all of my materials and things to do lists ...
Pros: Extremely Tough, sleek, stylish, long-battery, simple interface, reliable
Cons: No extra options available, discontinued, terrible springboard slot, no expansion
I got this two or three years ago, and I'd still have it if I didn't lost it. My blue Visor Edge has lasted through multiple concussive impacts, repeated drops onto asphalt, full immersion in water, 120 degree heat, and being run over--by a bike.
Through all that, it survived admirably with no decrease in performance. (After the first drop, I did need a hard reset) I use it as an address book, planner, stopwatch (for work in the lab), scribble pad, and toy (for when I need to babysit.) It's proven to be reliable, sleek, and it's remarkably handy.
It isn't good for those who crave other things (phone, mp3 support, etc) because the springboard expansion slot is incredibly awkward.
Nevertheless, what it does...it does well. It's small, tough, well designed, and the battery lasts for a long time (although a couple days short of a month). All and all, I'm looking to buy another one to replace my lost one, since the PalmOne stuff seems a bit fragile to me.
At first I was impressed... by randy_dt3004 ,Oct 09 '02
At first I was impressed with the quality and feel of this PDA. Then I had problems with different hacks that I had been using for over two years on my Palm IIIx--they made the Edge crash. The bottons tarnished after only a few months of normal use. I've owned it for 1 year and about 6 weeks and it is now broken. It will not take inputs from the screen. A repair & return from Handspring is $119. Handspring wasn't helpful with my initial problem with my hacks and I'm waiting to see how responsive they are to this most recent problem. Unless they honor the warranty, I cannot recommend this product to anyone.
While I like the Visor Edge and the springboard attachments, I recently had to replace the battery. Because the PDA was still under warrenty the cost was free. However, once the warrenty expires the cost of battery replacement will be $119.00! I can replace the whole unit for just a little more cost. Handspring needs to cut the cost of a battery replacement to a resonable level. While I like the Edge, I will not buy another Handspring because of Battery replacement costs, and advise others to look at PDA's with AA batteries.
While I found this unit very lightweight and easy to use, after about a year and a half, the battery would only last for a day before wiping out. Soon after, it wouldnt even last a day. It would crash and I would lose valuable contact information. Replacement after warranty costs $119, yet buying a refurbished unit costs $129!! What is up with that? I would not recommend buying this unit unless you can afford to replace it year after year.
I am impressed with the Handspring's ability to expand. The utilities are wonderful and reading e-mail is a breeze. I am very satisfied with it's overall performance. The best PDA for the money.
I've been a Palm user since '97, but needed a more recent OS so it would sync with my new iMac. So I decided to investigate the new models from Palm such as the 130 and 515. But when I saw the Handspring Visor Edge, I was surprised and quite impressed, having not considered the Handspring line. I was most impressed by the form factor, slim size, light weight, and it's Mac friendliness. Also, Best Buy had it for $160 with an additional $25 rebate. So for only $135 it's an incredible deal! I've been using it for a couple weeks and have absolutely no complaints. If you absolutely don't need color (are you REALLY going to use your handheld to view photos and PowerPoints on it?), then check out this awesome little unit.
