Not Everything I Need to Know was Learned in Kindergarten!

by ABenoit877 , Sep 20 '00
Pros: Challenging classes, lots to do, beautiful campus, new buildings, plenty of open space, lots of chances for on-campus involvement, excellent professors, good financial aid
Cons: Expensive for out-of state students.
Aah, Colorado State University. My Alma Mater...the school that taught me more than just reading, writing and 'rithmetic. As usual, I'm biased, but this is an opinion and not a factual statement, so you'll have that.

Where to start? CSU is...

Mmm, Mmm, Good Enough.

by ABenoit877 , Sep 20 '00
Pros: Variety, relatively inexpensive as far as food plans go, friendly staff, clean cafeterias.
Cons: It's cafeteria food.
OK, so we all know, cafeteria food sucks. You hated it in high school, but imagine eating it EVERY day, for all of your meals. Not so appetizing, is it?

Having said that, I've got to insist that CSU has some of the more edible creations of...

Home Sweet Home

by ABenoit877 , Sep 20 '00
Pros: SIL's, cafeterias in each hall, RA's, very accommodating for various needs, programming...
Cons: Freshmen required to live in halls.
The best four years of my life were spent at CSU's residence halls! First as a resident and then as a Resident Assistant (RA), I had more fun in those halls than I can remember having as a kid.

The first choice you have to make is between...

Colorado State University's home is in the beautiful town of Ft. Collins, Colorado. You couldn't ask for a better city to live in. I grew up in the area and have the most wonderful memories from this place. Finally turning 21, I am now able to go out to...

Hungry? You'll soon be nauseous...

by bec , May 15 '00
Pros: hmm, let me think about this one....NONE
Cons: the food, the employees, the hours, etc...
Although my expectations of dorm food are not very high, I have to say that Braiden Hall food is nasty. I lived in this hall last year and experienced the joys of this food service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner almost everyday.

The food...

Fun times

by bec , May 21 '00
Pros: It's fun to live in the dorms!
Cons: The dorm food is soooo gross
I have to admit that I really liked living on campus. There are many benefits in doing so. The first and probably one of the most important advantages is that it helps you meet people. I was scared out of my mind when I headed up to college. I didn't...

The "Melting Pot" of CSU

by HydroPupy , Sep 22 '00
Pros: friendly people, good view, best food, pretty spacious rooms, janitorial service is GREAT
Cons: elevator ride takes some time, and elevators break or drop you on the wrong floor often
Everybody fears staying in the dorms their first year of college, but really, i am VERY glad i did. My first year in my dorm called Westfall Hall at Colorado State University was a wonderful experience. I made dozens of new friends, which i still keep...

Distance MBA Program

by eback , Dec 07 '06
Pros: Quality Cost Convenience
Cons: Brevity (only 36 hours) Modality (for me distance delivery is a necessary evil)
So, where can you get a quality, AACSB-accredited, distance-MBA degree at an affordable price? Try Colorado State University - Fort Collins! My previous college and graduate work has been in-person, on campus, brick & mortar, this program has been an ...

CSU- Room for improvement but a lot to offer

by kat9000 , Apr 10 '00
Pros: Beautiful setting, fairly nice buildings and dorms
Cons: Food sucks and many teachers don't speak English very well
I am a second semester freshman here at CSU and I have lived on campus for the entire year. Through out this year I have discovered that there is much more to this school than any brochere, tour, or preview showed me.
CSU does have a beautiful...

Denver Executive MBA Program

by sourpuss , Jun 11 '00
Pros: Good location downtown Denver
Cons: Second or third tier school
I am a 2000 graduate of the CSU Denver Executive MBA program.

Getting an mba was probably one of the best academic decisions of my life, and I learned a ton while earning this degree. However, I think I could have learned even more in a better...

CSU Biology Department

by lmore , Mar 06 '00
Pros: great classes, great professors
Cons: takes longer than four years, generally
I am currently enrolled in CSU's biology major program. I really enjoy the flexibility of the program and the many options they offer. I concentrated in anatomy and physiology which is one of several concentrations they allow. Many of the...

Colorado State University

by james_hess , Jan 29 '00
Pros: Ft. Collins, Colorado. The nearby view of the Rocky Mountains.
Cons: See review.
Colorado State University (CSU) is located in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

A city of more than one hundred thousand non-transitory residents, Ft. Collins is a surprisingly clean and polite community.

As is CSU. A tree-lined campus with...

Wish You Were Here
by Mark_Settle ,Nov 21 '04
Pros: Super classes, Beautiful campus, Laid-back people, Great city
Cons: White kids, Tipsy white kids, Mediocre football team
I am a sophomore at Colorado State, and could not be happier with my decision. This is ever the more surprising given that I grew up in Boulder, loving the Buffaloes (and continuing to, when they aren't playing the Rams). Students who dive head-first into the community will get everything from college that they are looking for.

Classes are great, save for a couple general ed courses. Campus is beautiful, as are the nearby Rocky Mountains. Fort Collins is a great mid-sized city, with a number of alumni. The student government is fantastic, and most students are pretty laid back.

There have been some alcohol issues on campus, but people who don't wish to drink will find many others of the same mindset. Diversity is an issue, but my feeling is that CSU benefits from being a state school, because more people can afford it.

Take a tour, fill out an app, and come to CSU! Then get involved!

Not as Challenging as Other Colo Universities - Low Requirements for Incoming Students
by bakerca ,Nov 19 '07
Pros: Ft. Collins is great, you can take classes like flower-arranging (not kidding) for credit
Cons: Low-quality classes (material not as challenging), students not as serious about academic studies
Based on personal experience, CSU's undergrad business program is not one of the better options offered by Colorado universities. Unfortunately, the learning material for junior and senior-level students at CSU is being taught to freshman and sophomore students at other universities such as CU-Boulder and the University of Denver. Therefore, graduates at those schools have a definitive advantage.

If your high school grades and/or SAT/ACT scores are low, CSU is a good option because their admissions requirements are lower. Then, if you can get good grades I recommend trying to transfer to a program where the quality of education and students is at a higher standard.
