Looking Good

Pros: Features, Price, Presentation
Cons: Layout
I received this fine piece of machinary for a birthday present. I was edgy at first because I was making a surround sound kingdom and it needed to be perfect. Knowing the receiver was the main piece I was worried. Here is how it handled:

Swingin' sounds of the JVC

by Killa_T , Feb 22 '01
Pros: looks sweet, sounds sweet, and very adaptable.
Cons: The remote is a little cheap

This receiver is neither better...
by davek_dt3000 ,Mar 27 '02
This receiver is neither better nor worse than I expected. My previous receiver was a Sherwood/Newcastle R-300 which I had loved, but which I sold for digital. This receiver sounds about the same, but has a nice 5-band digital equalizer and "one touch operation" (memory settings for each input) that are very nice. It sounds fantastic, and home DTS really wows the crowd, but I must say that it's inconvenient for me to be unable to set any components on top of the receiver. This baby runs very hot and would damage CDs or components left over the heavy bits. Make sure that you can give it at least 10" of upward room before you buy. The heat almost makes me have misgivings about its longevity, but it's a year old now and it's ok. FWIW, it really doesn't run any hotter than my brother's 30 year old Sansui. I would have to say that I'm pretty happy with it.
