lightweight monocular you can carry all day
by hjskschill ,Jun 09 '06
Pros: Lightweight! You can hang this around your neck and forget it is there
Cons: Remember this is a monocular, it has a smaller field of vision
I used this monocular during our two weeks in Alaska. My husband used his Bausch & Lomb 8x36 Audubon "Birding Series" (wonderful highly recommended binoculars). Mine weighed in at under 4 ounces....his close to two pounds. We found that his had a much larger field of vision and easier to locate a certain animal or bird. However, once you located the object, the Zeiss Monocular was just as spectacular as the binocular! And, it was always at my fingertips! (I should add that I have monovision to correct onset double vision. Therefore this Zeiss was not only a necessity, but also a delight!)

This is the best smallest telescope. At 10X, it rewards a steady hand.
by jackofroses ,Jul 06 '04
Pros: The best optics in the smallest package.
Cons: Holding a 10 power image steady with no tripod can be challenging.
Great optics yield sharp images with pure colors. The image is magnificent even if the instrument is miniscule. It easily fits in my shirt pocket while the lanyard is around my neck, and is so small and light that carrying it is barely noticeable, much less any bother. I just now used it, filling its large field of view with a hummingbird at my feeder. Each facet of each feather on that bird was visible as an individual prism, each reflecting its own fractional rainbow of color. Wow.

The down side is, this stuff spoils you for anything not as good, which frankly is everything else except Leica. Love my Trinovids, but I always carry this and seldom them.
