Pros: Beats maby separates
Cons: soon to be replaced with the AVR-5800
I heard this receiver and IMHO, it outperforms many "Hi-End Separates" This amps does better with simple and high efficiency loads. Electrostatics are out of the question. Of course my large rear projection TV kills any remnants of a sound...

Excellent Sounding Receiver

Pros: Great sound; 5 channel stereo
Cons: Video switching limitations
The AVR-5700 is an excellent receiver. I have some old Kipsch Fortes hooked up for the left and right channels and some new Klipsch stuff for the other channels and it sounds great when playing music or when doing home theater.

Pros: Sound quality, flexibility & grow with future changes
Cons: Big, heavy and an expensive receiver

Seperates?? We don't need no stinking seperates!!

Pros: Accurate Sound w/ Stereo and 5.1 encoded sources
