Pros: Clearity, Sound Cons: Price
The Velodyne powered sub is the finishing touch to any home theater. If you are setting up a home theater to get the most bang for your buck and take advantage of the Dolby Digital effect look no further.

Pros: Big Boom from a small box Cons: Sounds a little harsh at very deep bass

Disappointing Subwoofer, never to purchase Velodyne again!
by cookiemonsterr ,Oct 02 '05
Pros: Other than its Color, nothing else! Cons: Quality, price, warranty, lack of customer service.
I purchased this Velodyne subwoofer back in November 2000 at the local Future Shop (Ottawa, Canada) , setting me back $500. I was assured this was a quality unit with great subwoofer sound characteristics. I used this unit 4 times (limiting this expensive unit only to worthy movies such as Saving Private Ryan, The Matrix, Star Trek IV and Heat) , and in 2004, the 5th time I powered it up, it failed to turn on. I attempted some basic trouble shooting ie: power connected, fuse) and it was a blown fuse. Replacing the fuse, it still wouldn't power up. The fuse blew for a second time, and a third one as well! It turns out there was (un-officially) a design flaw with these units, hence they are no longer sold. The warranty expired, and calls to Velodyne were the least helpful. I'm now stuck with a busted subwoofer, having to dish out an additional $250 to get it working again. Needless to say, I'm disappointed, and this was the first(and definitively) and last time I purchase anything bearing the Velodyne brand name.
