Pros: Output selection Cons: Reliability
I purchased a Sony DVP-S530D DVD player 15 months ago- and yesterday I got a 'C 13:00' error on the screen. The unit had worked great up to that point; it ran a bit hot, but aside from that it was fine. I had no idea what this error message was - so I...

Pros: Reasonable price and had everything we needed. Cons: Having to switch the remote to the tv setting in order to control volume
My husband and I purchased this particular DVD player in early January of this year at Best Buy. We payed about $290 for it (it was an open box buy).I was very skeptical of buying a DVD because I normally wait a while to purchase new products, in order...

Pros: Great picture and sound quality Cons: Lip-sync problem and no DVD Navigator remote
I have had this player for over a year and I love it. I still encounter the lip-sync problem every once and awhile but a quick stop-play on the remote and it vanishes. The picture and sound are extraordinary! Having only paid $279 for it last year I...

Pros: Works ok, that is when it turns on, and doesn't overheat, or lose sync. Cons: Have to leave it unplugged for 10 minutes before use/eject, loses sync during play.
I bought this DVD player a little over a year ago and it worked great. Sometimes the movies would be out of sync with the sound, giving it a weird "lip-synced" look to it, but I assumed it was a problem with the DVD I was watching. Sony's web site...

Pros: Good Video, Good Audio Cons: AV-Sync drift on 1 or 2 titles so far (out of 50)
I've actually been developing hardware and software DVD decoder products for around 4 years, so I'm a pretty rough critic. I found the abilities of this player to be great. Some of the features are pretty unnecessary, but better to have too much than...

Pros: Built In Decoder Cons: some problems
The Sony DVP S530D is my first DVD player. I bought it in 1999 from Best Buy. At the time, the price for non-decoder versions at most outlets were this price, and I felt that I got the decoder for free. The rest of my system consists of a Nakamichi...

Pros: Great sound and video quality Cons: can only hold one cd
I purchased the Sony DVP-S530D DVD player about 6 months ago. I have used it at least 4 times a week since I have had it and it still runs like new.
I bought the DVD player at a local Best Buy in my area. I paid $379.99 for it and I feel it...

Pros: Good Value Cons: None
Working in the television industry I am always in search of modern electronic components at a good price. I have always been a hardcore Sony fanatic and all my electronic devices are Sony products. Therefore I purchased the Sony DVP-530D and was truly...

Pros: All around great features Cons: A bit more pricey than the competitor
Some people think you pay for the name when you buy higher end products like Sony. In most cases you get what you pay for. This is quite evident in some of the competitors equivalent models. Features and quality suffer in the hundred dollar price range...

Pros: quality, sound, ease Cons: none
My VCR just broke, and I was thinking about getting a DVD player for quite some time now. I went to a few stores looking around and I came across the new Sony 530 DVD player. It was a decent price at 349.99. So I went for it, it came with 5 free dvd's...

Pros: built-in Dolby Digital Decoder, component video, simple to use, great quality picture and sound Cons: Does your receiver decode Dolby Digital? If so, go for the 330: you don't need the built-in decoder in this player
I picked up this DVD player on a big sale, and that helped me justify the added price over the 330.
This product adds component video and a Dolby Digital decoder, over the 330. I'm looking forward to my next receiver (using my roommate's now),...

Pros: Picture and Audio Quality. Audio flexibility Cons: Won't play copies, haven't heard of any chip upgrades to correct sync errors but have not encountered any.
If you need a DVD player with a build in AC-3 decoder look no further. I have a receiver with 5.1 inputs but no decoder and this unit performs great! I paid 350 which is more than some similar units but it has fiber, coax, and component video outputs....

Pros: Lots of features, enough to keep the novice audio/videophile occupied Cons: Not enough description of the features of the player for proper configuration.
I bought my Sony DVP-S530 on April 2000 from Best Buy in Cambridge, MA. The salesman was pretty helpful and didn't try to sell me a more expensive unit. I purchased the player for $332 and that included 5 free DVD's.
I didn't know a lot about...

Pros: Practical design, built in decoder,DTS, nice remote. Cons: None.
I did some comparing before I bought this and found that it had everything I wanted for a reasonable price. Multiple slow motion speeds is very handy. Easy to set-up and true playback. Although not many available titles in DTS format yet, the few that I...

Pros: Overall Quality Cons: Non yet
I purchased the Sony DVD S539 based on a recommendation from Stereo Review and I'm so happy I did. This machine performs beautifully. The picture reproduction is impressive. The audio section is what you would expect from a $400.00 Sony cd player, what...
