Pros: DVD is so much better than SVHS Cons: Most DVD players are NOT compatible with all music CDs (including CD-R)
There are a lot of good reviews of the features of the various models, so I'll focus on a pitfall I ran into on my Toshiba SD2109. Many personal computers these days are shipping with CD-RW CD-ROM drives, which among other things allows for the copying...

Pros: Great price, excellent quality, picture & sound. A perfect gift for anyone. Cons: None
I recently bought the Toshiba SD2109 DVD player for my dad -- which of course means, I use it all the time. And for the price, it's an excellent one!
Of course there's more expensive ones with 1,000 features, but when it comes down to it, I...

Pros: Features, well made, handles "troublesome" DVD's Cons: Remote control
I bought this DVD player in March '99 when it first came out. In the year that I've had it, I have been very pleased. It has all the features you need, and some you don't. Many low to mid-range players have trouble with certain DVD's (the Matrix...

Pros: lots of audio and video output choices, excellent sound and picture quality Cons: can't think of any
If you are in the market for a DVD player, take a serious look at Toshiba. There are a lot of different DVD manufacturers out there, but Toshiba was one of the developers of the DVD format. I bought a Toshiba SD 2108 DVD player about a year ago, the SD...

Pros: Inexpensive, great picture Cons: No sound in fast forward modes.
Just before Thanksgiving 1999 we purchased the Toshiba SD2109 DVD Player. It is wonderful. The picture quality is great! With the purchase, we received 5 free DVD's from Sony and 10 FREE DVD rentals from Blockbuster. And in the box, there were even more...

Pros: Great image and sound quality, incredible value for the quality of the product, great support if needed Cons: Still a bit price (key is to look around for the best value)
This year for Christmas, I was hard pressed to find the perfect gift to give to my entire family. I wanted something that we would all use and enjoy for a long time. I decided that it was time to move into the digital era and dump that 10-year-old...

Pros: great price Cons: Can't record
This Toshiba is our families first DVD player. Ever since we bought it, we have been watching movies ever weekend as a family. It has many great features. Most people ask what's so much better about a DVD than a VHS. Once you buy this product you will...

Pros: It plays DVD without a hitch. Cheapest price I can find for a DVD player today. Cons: Small buttons on remote. Inherent flaws in DVD format cannot be fixed by the player.
I wouldn't have bought a DVD player this early if Mercata (www.mercata.com) didn't offer its power buy, their $50 Mercata dollar for first user, and free shipping until the end of the year. Therefore, I manage to secure this low-end DVD player for just...

Pros: Price is right. Has all the features of units twice the cost! Cons: Remote could be nicer.
Really, the title says it all. I have spent years and years customizing my home theatre, and when it came time to buy a DVD player, I went and did my homework.
I could've spent $800 for gold-plated outputs, and higher bit-rate converters. ...

Pros: Excellent video, 4x zoom Cons: Small remote and can't play CD-R CD-RW or VCD
Two years ago, I did a lot of research and after comparing features and prices, I decide to get the Toshiba 2109. At that time this was considered a second generation machine. Although I paid $249 then, I was able to send in an offer for 5 dvds....

Pros: Video and Sound Cons: I've seen better
This new Toshiba SD2109 is one of the best DVD players that i have seen to date. For the price that it costs you get one of the best deals today. The picture with the DVD player is great and the sound it gives off even on my old 1989 TV. I have bought...

Pros: great image, price, sound Cons: small remote
We can not get over how improved the picture is on DVD's as opposed to videos. We're enjoying the five free DVD's plus using the coupons that we received from Blockbuster and Netflix.
Our computer has a DVD player and we had watched a few...

Pros: Everything you want at an unbeatable price. Cons: You might get addicted.
All your friends are telling you it's time to get a DVD player and you're wanting to join, but don't want to make a bad decision. Will you spend too much and buy things you won't use? Will you buy too low-end and miss all the fun and have to buy...

Pros: Color-Stream, Price, Quality Cons: No optical inputs
The Toshiba 2109, recently discontinued, was the best the dvd on the market for the price. Its replacement the 1200 offers the same quality. When shopping for a new tv, I considered the possibility of buying a new dvd player. Working in retail along...

Pros: Simple use, great for any scale home theater Cons: remote is small and hard to use
I purchased my 2109 over a year ago, and have not regretted it since. Many other people I know have bought other DVD players and have had very different experiences. Nothing comes simple anymore, and this DVD player is no different. I was looking for...
