Pros: Good value for three services. Cons: telephone service doesn't work if there's a blackout.
When I first signed up for Cablevision here on Long Island many years ago it was for television reception. No more using the antenna on my roof. The Cablevision company brought a direct cable line from the telephone pole in front of my house and brought ...
Pros: Is the only option in some areas still. Cons: Horrible service, constantly out, high bills, bad quality picture.
I haven't suscribed to Cablevision for about a year now, and I hear they were recently bought out by one of the bigger cable companies, well hallelujah! Cablevision was the cause of so many headaches for me for so many years. Once they upped the bill...
Pros: Clear picture; good sound; friendly customer service Cons: slightly overpriced and the only option in some areas
The Company Cablevision is one of the country's best cable and telecommunication companies. I have seen quite a few reviews badmouthing Cablevision for their "limited" programming and high prices. While it IS true that Cablevision's services a ...
Pros: Lots of options/learning channels/pay per view Cons: They sneak stuff into your bill
Ok...I am going to confess. I seldom read my utility bill's before paying them. I vigorously review my credit card statements but have always just glanced at my utility statements and then cut a check. Paying bills is my least favorite chore and each...
Pros: none specific to iO Cons: It's really an alpha release, and is overpriced.
This review is specifically about iO, Cablevision's digital television service. The half-hearted decision to switch from regular Cablevision to iO was not entirely voluntary--I had received notice from Cablevision that HBO would soon be a digital-only ...
Pros: I get a picture on my TV! Cons: The picture I get is blurry and the cost is too much!
Like many others, I am a victim of Cablevision - in my case, Star Cable. I have found that, to get a decent picture on my TV, I have to subscribe to cable T.V. When I started subscribing about twelve years ago, it cost me around $11 a month for basic...
Pros:NONE! Cons:The list is so long, I don't know where to begin.
Granted, few people have anything good to say about cable companies in general, but this one takes the cake. Having had Time Warner before this, I only 'thought' I understood just what a rip-off can be when it comes to cable service. I wasn't in love ...
Pros: not much Cons: customer service, value, picture quality
I don't know where to start. Cablevision is a disgusting monopoly bent on placing the customer in his or her place... or at least the place where Cablevision feels the customer should be.
I subscribe to basic cable through Cablevision of...
Pros: Dish has more costly channel options but easier navigation - cable includes local stations in the basic price but is generally more expensive in cost Cons: An antenna still works if you don't want to pay monthly for broadcast entertainment
In my area of the country, the price of cable TV is 35% more than satellite dish TV, at least for the basic channels. Seems the prices for satellite and cable have switched positions in recent years as cable used to be cheaper than dish. So which one...
Pros: what's good about communism? Cons: everything, but they're the only option
Think America stands for freedom of choice? Not when it comes to cable TV where we live in the Bronx. Our only choice is Cablevision, and we were too fearful of interference to try a satellite.
Pros: Reliable Cons: Only game in town, horrible customer service
Living in the most densely populated area of the country would lead one to believe that there would be a decent selection of choices when it comes to home entertainment. Well, that certainly isn't the case here in northern NJ... we have CABLEVISION!!!!...
Pros: Excellent products, packages, and service. Cons: Service Interruptions do occur, dropped channels, rebooting is necessary.
Cablevision has evolved from a startup cable company from wired remote and basic cable service to infrared control and customizable packages including a family package. This modern cable company has services with more premium channels like the Starz ...
Cable in general has gone the way of Bell Telephone years ago. There is now a monopoly on cable, and basically no home can be without it. Of course we can all revert back to the days where you had to install an antenna on top of your house (so...
Pros: technical service Cons: price, severe breaks
I hope all cable tv suppliers aren't like Cablevision. If I had the choice between suppliers , I certainly would not pick Cablevision. The price we all have to pay for this service is outragious. they have done nothing but to continue to increase...
Pros: clear picture and sound Cons: too expensive; don't live up to their end of the bargain
I am writing in behalf of a dear friend of mine. She is a subscriber of Cablevision in the Brookline Boston. To the point, they showed up late for installation breaching their promise of on-time service. After he was ready to leave she asked what do I...
Pros: Solid service... no service black outs... yet. Cons: Lack of basic cable channels. Expensive.
I'm not one of those rabid cable watchers and I still consider it somewhat of a luxury. If I didn't have cable, I really wouldn't care. In fact, I only have it because it is currently required in order for me to receive cable modem service. I'd just...
Pros: better than nothing Cons: bad customer service, high cost
After three years of waiting and calling the 800 cable phone number advertised, Cablevision finally started service in our area. With the choice of bad reception or paying for cable, we quickly opted for Cablevision's services. I believe it was a big...
Pros: Provides more programming than the big 6 networks Cons: Premium channels can run your bill up from $22 to $90 monthly
I remember way back in 1990 when I lived in an area where Cable TV was still unavailable. Wow, all we thought was, "What could we be missing by not having cable?" The answer, I realize today, is absolutely nothing.
If there's any other way to put it, I would. How else could I have put up with this company. Cablevision is the only company to service my borough. I waited longer than most would, finally getting cable in January of 99. I was sorely disappointed. I...
I dont know about your area but in my area, cablevision sucks. They dont have most channels like the Cartoon Network or Animal planet. when you call to ask for them all they say is "we dont provide those channels". why, you ask? Because...
This cable service is really unreliable!! On average I get an interruption at least once every two weeks, this is when the cable goes totally blank!!! ITS HORRIBLE!!!!! The only good part about this bad cable company is the thirteen days when I have...
Pros: You'll need a magnifying glass to find one Cons: Their very existence
Cablevision's hand is in your pocket and continually reaches deeper. This is the most overpriced "utility" in the marketplace. TV is as important to most families as is heat, light and water. In many parts of the country there is now a...
Pros: none Cons: double billing and constant black outs
Cablevision is the most unreliable cable company ever. Just a few months ago I turned on my television to find my cable had been cut off. I called Cablevision to find out the problem they told me it was for non-payment of my bill. I explained to them...
I"ve had cable since 25 yrs old.I love it it has all great movies not that boring regular stations. I get all the great movies. I think if I did not have cable I would go crazy watching the same regular stations.
Cablevision has my vote. The...
Pros: decent channel selection, hardly ever a problem with reception or functioning Cons: bad customer service, price
I have been receiving CableVision for a few years now, and it is not very good. The channel selection in decent, providing dozens of channels, but too many are home shopping or other useless channels. The price isn't very cheap either. With all of the...
Pros: None Cons: Expensive. Expensive. Very few channels. Did I mention expensive?
I used to live in New York City. Cable in NYC is relatively cheap. You get a lot of channels, and don't pay through the nose. Then I moved to Long Island and submitted to the Cablevision cable Nazis.
Pros: They take credit card payments by phone Cons: Service Cuts Out, Ridiculously HIGH Prices!
In NJ, different cable companies service different regions of the state. We unfortunately have Cablevision. Talk about a joke!!! When we moved 2 years ago we had VisionCable which was a decent service. It hardly ever went out and the costs were more...
Pros: better technology, competitive pricing, good customer service Cons: Analog pictures still slightly noisy
To get away from Cablevision of Southern CT because of their terrible reception, we decided to go dish. We were informed that in order to get the local major networks, we had to prove we couldn't get reception through our antenna. Even being as close to...
Do you like rate increases twice or more per year? Do you like having to pay extra for premium movie channels? Do you like monopolies? Well, if you do then I guess you’ll love cablevision. For the rest of us who have a brain cablevision is the biggest...
Pros: Many channels Cons: Overpriced, not digital, lots of hidden fees
I have been a cablevision customer for years now. When I moved in with two roommates two years ago they already had IO and we split the $140+ bill three way so it was not too bad. We had four IO boxes. Installation: CHEAP!! They use cheap cables, ...
Pros: It's good when it works Cons: Exorbitant installation fees for things that are clearly user installable.
I recently contacted Cablevision to request an HDTV DVR set-top box. Cablevision explained that you have to pay $28 for installation. They say that professional installation is required. The last time I had a Cablevision technician in my house I had ...
Pros: A lot of money for a TV picture. Cons: Inadequately trained personnel especially the road techs. Lack of communication between cust. serv. & techs.
I recently wrote a review at www.complaints.com regarding just some of my experiences with Cablevision. I'd like to share some of those thoughts here: Cablevision - NY/NJ Metro Area There is no question that customers are treated differently ...
Pros: it works Cons: less customer oriented than any other business
I see that the negative opinions about Cablevision greatly outnumber the few positive comments, and we're talking about a near monopoly which is now not regulated by anyone as far as I can see, so continuing to highlight their many faults seems a little...
Pros: Good Digital Channel Selection Cons: Expensive, (Really) Bad Customer Service, Poor Analog Channel Selction
Cablevision, the company everyone loves to hate. Unfortunatly they are our only choice in Scarsdale, NY (sattilite, of course if availible but we have a small problem with trees). Cablevision does however, have a very good cable internet service...
Virtually everyone on Long Island is serviced by Cablevision when it comes to Cable Television. It's terribly expensive, yet there is no other alternative. Talk about a monopoly.
The channels are so annoying, as they change at least once a...
Pros: good picture quality (4/29/05 picture quality varied - see letter.) Cons: uneven audio quality, hopeless customer service (4/29/05 audio problems and customer service STILL hopeless!)
I have been a Cablevision of CT subscriber for 13 years. I have had Playboy TV for that long. When it first came on picture quality was terrible, there was always a haze. Now that Cablevision uses fiber optic the picture quality has improved on all ...
Pros: CLEAR RECEPTION WHEN ON Cons: BREAK IN SERVICE - OFTEN
Cablevision television programming does produce great tv reception. That is unless there is a wind and rain storm. More often that not, a hard rain or wind storm will disrupt tv reception in our location. And, then to try and report your break in...
Pros: if its clear good shows Cons: bad customer service
You would think that a big company like cablevision would like its customers happy right? Wrong. Cablevision took over for another company about years ago. Not a day as gone by since then that I have not had a problem. There is never a day that all the...
Pros: Scramble-vision Cons: High prices, Channel selection is for the birds
Lemme tell you what I think of Cablevision. It sucks. Unfortunately the residents of Long Island do not have another option when it comes to cable television. Its what people in the corporate world would call a monopoly. No matter how dissatisfied...
Pros: Convenience Cons: No cable modems, no plans for them
I've got their basic service, and they just increased the price, again. If they offered broad-band, I would pay for it. But they don't. And they have no plans to do so in my area in the near future. It's just an expensive monopoly. But how can you...
Pros: Tell the cable company where to go.... Cons: Lack of customer service
Have you ever waited for the cable guy all day long only to have them cancel and reschedule for sometime next week to come and install or repair your cable?
Want to have a little bit of revenge, switch to Dish Network, the rates are much...
I pay $75 a month for cable and it is certainly not worth even half that much. I can only speak for my cablevision but it stinks. Many times it goes out leaving the family with no television at all. When they were installing fiber optics we were without...
Did you know that it is not illegal to buy a cable box? But did you also know that Cablevision obtains court orders to get into the records of the companies that sell the boxes? They obtain the buyer's name and addresses, and even credit card numbers...
Pros: Technical Service People can be helpful Cons: Regular Blackout Periods and its hard to get in touch with Cablevision
Throughout my years as a Cablevision customer I have had both good and bad experiences. However, I don't know if the good outweighed the bad. Basically, they are pretty lucky that there isn't more competition in this area. If there was, there would...
Pros: Friendly and closely located Cons: Behind the times and too few channels
Having come from a large city, this reviewer was quite used to having over 80 channels on the cable system and channels that were exciting. After moving to a smaller town, the realization that a small town denotes small cable was disappointing.
The only reason I had cablevision: they were the only company servicing my area. But, the service I received was unacceptable. I was continually billed for services I did not order (a la pay-per-views, etc.) and they had the audacity to not remove...
Yeah, their monthly fees are a bit more than I'd really like to pay, But I think the programming is pretty good. As a Long Islander, I especially like News 12. The New York City networks bring you 4 minutes of Long Island news every night, where News 12...
Pros: Hey its cable at least you got like 70 channels Cons: Expensive and Not many options
Cablevision claims to be all that and then some but isn't exactly the best of choices. All the best channels have repeats of old movies and shows. Its slow when showing the times for programs and sometimes the picture on the tv gets messed up. Its very...
Pros: None Cons: No Customer Service, Bad Cable Service
Cablevision Communications has to be the worst service provider for cable television I have ever been involved with.
I subscribed to this company's service for over two years and I've seen nothing but poor reception from them. They have...
Pros: Can't think of any (no dish?) Cons: Horrible customer service, no Food TV
I have to admit my biggest gripe with Cablevision in Rockland County NY is that it does not carry Food TV. Cablevision in all the surrounding counties get it, but I don't (doesn't figure does it?).
Pros: PEOPLE WHO STEAL CABLE ! Cons: CABLEVISION !
Cablevision will be raising there prices! why? simply because it's 2000
& everybody is doing it. Now cablevision is going to be showing
broadway plays on pay per view,"do you know how much money that's going to cost us " facts...
Pros: Lower cost to add additional TVs Cons: Lousy Picture, Lousy Customer Service
Cablevision has horrible television picture quality which is very flickery, as well as well as horrid customer service and a small selection of channels compared with other providers. Cablevision is a huge monopoly that owns several TV channels as well...
Pros: 116 channels, movie networks Cons: Still have alot of work to do on this service. bad sound, terrible picture, crummy costs.
Since the late 70's early 80's, Cablevision has been providing service to hundreds of Americans in the Connecticut area. I was born in the early 80's and I must say that I of course watch T.V. alot. At my age now, I am very dissapointed with the...
Pros: Their store is five minutes from my house.Online bill payment. Cons: Most Techs are incompetent. Getting too expensive for the quality of service lately.
Ive been a Cablevision subscriber for almost five years. Since January of 2009,their quality and service has been slipping at an alarming rate.I started out with the "triple play". That combines IO digital tv,Optimum voice phone service, and ...
Pros: The TV signal at least gets to the house. There's finally an alternative. Cons: Sky-high price.
Not that reliable.
Channels keep getting taken away.
Lies in their advertising.
Ever since my grandparents signed up for cable service through Cablevision countless years ago, it's only gotten worse. They have the family cable service, which has come up to $49.60 a month! This includes the crappy, pixilated picture, occasional ...
Pros: The ONLY Pro would be that their Internet connection is fast. Cons: Overpriced, bad picture on several channels, did I mention overpriced?
Overpriced, overpriced, overpriced. I was paying $98 and change for basic family cable and cable Internet a month. This is outrageous. When it was a little under $80 for both the cable Internet connection and basic family cable, it was fine. But over the ...
Pros: Their services are good quality Cons: Their customer service is the worst I have ever seen!
I was a Cablevision customer for a little over a year and whenever I need customer service it was a nightmare. When I first signed up I was lied to about pricing. They gave me a deal that later I was told I didn't qualify for so I was ...
Pros: Cablevision is offing the lowest price for TV, Phone, and Internet at unequaled speed. Cons: customerservice is terrible. They will have monopoly on all three and rates will sky rocket.
Since I have moved in to my new place 2 and a half months ago nothing has worked right for more that one week straight. HBO on demand has never worked right... ever! The phone is useless if it is raining or I am using the Internet. The bandwidth is never ...
Pros: Reliable service, friendly customer service associates. Cons: Billing consumers for unneeded services.
The madness must stop. I have been a loyal standard cable user for 10 years and made the decision to upgrade to digital in order to view HDTV on my new TV. I have two TV's in the house. One standard CRT and one plasma that has a built in HD tuner and ...
Pros: DVR capability. Good sound and picture. A variety of service. Cons: Can be expensive with add on packages, phone doesn't work in all areas.
I've been using Cablevision for a little over a year now for my TV service, Internet and phone service. Other than the occassion updates and outages, the system has worked great. My favorite part though is the DVR add on that I am now hooked on . The ...

Pros: None Cons: Worst Customer Service, Long waiting, only choice
Customer Service representatives are bunch of liars at cablevision, they called me few days ago and offered me the Family package services for $25 for 6 months + Discount on optimum online. When I called to schedule an appointment, they said you will...
Pros: The only Pro is there are other services available from other companies. Cons: The customer service, the picture, the cost. The service is a nightmare.
I have only had trouble in dealing with Cablevision. THe picture quality is atrocious (but that isn't my main gripe). The problem I have is they will not let you use a TiVo box. Their trick is to constantly shut off power to the cable box so your TiVo ...
Pros: Minimum price - minimum service variety of on demand Cons: Terrible search capabilities Hidden costs Rude Customer Service No Multi room dvr No Web programming
I had a Sales Rep come to my house on memorial weekend to offer a winback promo to verizon fios customers. He did a bill comparison told me that for the exact same service I would save $40 monthly. The pitch was that I had a 30 day free trial and that if ...
Pros: Dollars aside, the Silver Package was decent. The channel selection was large and varied. Cons: Their customer service is just horrendous. Their packages are quite pricey.
My roommate and I had the silver package for the past six months. We got the service because it's only cable service available in this area, and we couldn't watch any other channels otherwise. The service was okay; sometimes it would go out for a ...
Pros: NOT A THING !!! Cons: The only con is what cablevision is pulling on all paying customers.
I hate cablevision because they have decided to blitz the channels with the most awful commercials. It is absolutely disgusting what this company is doing on the TV now a days. They make no sense and they are shown ...
Pros: i've only had the internet/cable service for a day, but i hear it's reliable. Cons: customer service, open-ended all day 'appointments'
10 AM - 8 PM is not an appointment. This is ALL DAY. An appointment would be "We'll be there at 3pm, Sir." and someone actually comes. I had a 10-8 "appointment" yesterday. The technician came at 6pm. I hadn't left my apartment all day and was ...
Pros: offer a $12/month sub-basic package Cons: expensive otherwise, poor quality and service
Cablevision is a monopoly in my area, and much of the New York City area. This is just sad. The alternative of satellite TV is much better (see my epinions under Satellite TV).
Cablevision charges more than is fair, in my opinion, with...
Pros: Decent packages of service Cons: Price too high
Cablevision is too expensive!! The service isn't too good, there have been blackouts of service on many occassions. The rates just tend to raise higher and higher and it feels like Cablevision has too much control over us. Relatives in other parts of...
Pros: It's the only One Cons: It's Monopoly attitude

They kink'a don't...
Pros: Digital cable service Cons: Regular cable sucks, cable modem not that good.

Cablevision has okay service. Not many people dispute that fact. However, Cablevision is very expensive, depending on how many channels you get. The fewer channels you get, the less money you pay. For example, the basic cable service is around $25...
Cablevision is one word. Monopoly. Cablevision has every tv cable fanatic in New York at least, and I'm sure plenty of people in other parts of the United States know this as well. Cablevision is fairly expensive depending on what channels you plan on...
Pros: Good selection of channels Cons: Rates rise frequently
Upon moving to Long Island, we subscribed to Cablevision, primarily due to poor available reception. We were pleased with the variety of channels on our Family plan (for example, Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, as well as the local broadcast channels). Over four...
I have had Cablevision for over 2 years and since I had cable I never get board of watching T.V. Cablevision is a series of channels that you and others could order from to see what you feel is exciting for your family members and yourself.
Before I had cable, I figured that all cable providers were the same, except give or take a few dollars. I soon learned that this was not the case at all. I was part of the Cablevision monopoly, so I had had little choice in the matter but what I can...
Pros: wide selection Cons: poor quality, high costs

Cablevision isn't exactly the best Cable in NY. The only problem is, is that we in Bklyn and the Bronx really don't have a choice. That's the only cable available to us. Time Warner is shown in Manhattan and Queens so for what we have I guess it's okay....
Pros: You gotta have it Cons: There's only one place to buy it and it's too darn expensive!
Microsoft is being accused of being a monopoly. What about cable companies?
My area is stuck with Daniels Cablevision. No options, no choices. This service is the only utility more expensive in the San Diego area than in San Francisco! Will...
Pros: signal quality, number of networks available, advanced tech features available Cons: slow response to service calls (not set up for volume)
I get a chance to visit a lot of areas and hear gripes everywhere about peoples cable service. compared to them we are a lot better off. Particularly the "Optimum service" If you have the ability to receive your signal on fiber your...
I was forced to switch to Cablevision's digital service If I didn't, I lost channels I had with regular, analog, cable...1. Price is up over 33%.2. Painfully slow delays whilst switching channels, which makes 'channel surfing' all but impossible.3. Unwieldy system when trying to find a show to DVR. TiVo is better.4. Unlike my old cable, it is impossible to delete or program your remote/box to skip channels I never watch, i.e., cooking, shopping, community access, premium channels. Come to think of it, there are more channels but they are all crap.5. The bills are almost always wrong, which requires calling customer 'service' in an attempt to get them to credit the habitual over billing, which occurs month after month. I guess if enough people fail to call, that is even more money lining Cablevision's pockets.6. Power goes out, your phone goes out. Of course, Cablevision would be happy to sell you a backup battery.7. Slow internet, something like 5mbs, or 20 times slower than Japan!
Cablevision - part of New England by gl_emma ,Apr 12 '07
Pros: Cablevision provides a great deal of Spanish & International programming. Cons: Cablevision provides poor sports coverage for New England sports and it's expensive.
I live in Connecticut (part of New England)- but for some reason - Cablevision automatically assumes that I am a New York sports fan.
They do not offer a New England sports channel at all. They are going to provide MLB Extra Innings but only on channels 433 - 435 - I bet I am not going to get any games there! Chances are, Red Sox games will also be blacked out!
I tried to watch a Red Sox game on ESPN2 - but ESPN2 had it blacked out because it was on a local channel - NESN. Sadly, Cablevision does not provide NESN.
Pros: Fast internet access Cons: Not nearly enough space to list them all
Non existent customer service. Every time you have a problem (and you will) they give you an "appointment" 2 weeks out w/ a time frame between 8am and 6 pm then they never show up. You call to complain and it takes over 20 minutes to navigate their options and voice recognition system. Then they tell you that you appointment was cancelled because you were not home. This is after you wait all day, they will NOT let you speak to a manager. They treat their customers as an annoyance. They need more competition.
Pros: None, Optimum online is not bad. Cons: Bad HD Channel lineup with no upgrade options. Slow Old Menu system.
I was a happy direct TV customer for 8 years, then moved to a condo in NJ and had to switch to my only choice of, Optimum IO, its like going back in time.
God IO Sucks, Direct TV HD was way more stable and reliable. IO HD cant handle the speed of fast moving HD so it pixilated whenever there is a lot of fast movement on the screen. And the HD channel lineup sucks. Yes it free but what crap. No Discovery Channel HD? And no choice upgrade to anything else? What the hell. And the menu system, besides being incredible unstable and slow, looks and performs like something from 20 years ago. Its horrible. Most HD movies are not even broadcasted with HD audio, just regular old stereo. I could go on and on. Im just waiting for something else to become available.
Just another in a long line of stories, no doubt. by jdrive ,Sep 22 '05
Pros: Charles Dolan was a visionary. Cons: Jimmy Dolan is the poster-child for why nepotism is a bad idea.
Cablevision? I wouldn't let the people that work there do my laundry. What a bunch of morons. I drive a half-hour to pick up an HD box with DVR, drive back. Follow directions exactly. Nothing. Call. Tech Support? "Did you say H-V? H-D? I'm not familiar with that." They couldn't program a vcr.
Cablevision 'sends' a guy in a truck the next day. "He'll be there between 8 - 11". Shows up at 11:25. Mind you I am taking off work to be there. He looks at the box. Tests the cable with a meter. Looks some more. His brilliant insight? Well, either I can take the box back myself (half-hour drive), or, guess what, he has a basic no-frills box without the HD in his truck! Oh joy! I tell him to get lost and take the box back later in the day. Get there -- not exagerating -- 30 SECONDS after quittin' time. "Sorry sir, we're closed". I tell the guard what happened and point out that there are still people on line. "Sorry sir, we're closed". "Can I speak with a Manager?" "He left an hour ago".
Upgrading to IO from analog cable by gshamis ,Feb 15 '05
Pros: HD pic is nice, once you get it Cons: installation took forever
I've been a subscriber of theirs for a long time. Recently I bought a 60" Sony Grad Wega. This made me realize that old analog boxes just don't cut it. So I subscribed to the "Triple Play" deal which is (OptOnline/Voice/TV in one package at discount).
So far installation has gone really badly.
I ordered 3 regular converters and 1 HD DVR.
Wed: installation day
regular boxes work, HD shows only 2 HD channels, No online connection, phone is working
Customer service fixed "online". HD requires tech to come in again
Fri: tech shows up with noone at home (appointment set for Monday
Sat: call in to schedule it again on Monday
Mon: 3 more HD channels work, 2 regular boxes no longer work at all, call them up they claim "area" outage that somehow only affects 2 of my 4 boxes. They refuse to schedule appointment for either of the problems. claim I have to wait 24hours
Tue: to be continued :-)
Fri: finally it's all done
IO Digital Cablevision Long Island, SUCKS!!! by daleesai ,Jul 05 '05
Pros: There HD channels are crystal clear, when it is working. Cons: Intermittently you lost HD channels and some channels, most of the time.
We just had IO Digital installed last month. There are only limited channels that has HD because we only ask for the regular. And they are giving us a lot of problem. This past holiday weekend the whole day our HD channels are out, and some channels that are not HD are missing too. So I will call today to have it fix that this is not the first time it happens, even before it happens intermittently. In short this cable sucks and u pay a lot for it. I heard Satellite most of there channels are HD but we are hesitant about changing to satellite. I agree with the other reviewers this is like monopoly, why other company come here in Nassau County like RCN, etc. I miss Time Warner, they are such a good company you hardly have problem with there cable and online services.
Thoroughly disgusted with cablevision by captnmatt ,Aug 11 '06
Pros: huge choice of channels Cons: interference on non-digital channels and terrible customer service.
In Rockland County, Cablevision is a monopoly. Dishes are not permitted in the garden apartment complex where I live.
For over three years, I have had Digital I-O Silver.
Several months ago, my area started getting unacceptable interference on quite a few of the "non digital" channels (below channel 80). It was quite a hassle to get this resolved and, only after about six difference technicians came to my dwelling did things improve somewhat (but not completely).
Now the interference (which reminds me of the ham-radio interference I got many years ago when living in the Bronx) is back again, this time on EVERY non-digital channel (23 through 79 with the exception of 60, 67, 70-72 which are digital).
I refuse to phone cablevision because I do not want to get the run-around again forcing my wife to stay home for useless visits from incompetent technicians.
All I can hope is that someone else will get after them this time or that Verizon will be soon permitted to offer cable service as competition to Cablevision. I would switch in an instant!
Stay Away from CABLEVISION by cristino ,Jul 13 '06
Pros: No Pros Cons: Customer Service, Billing, Reliability.
If you can go with DirecTV, I say do it.
Cablevision is always adding services into your bill. Unless your on top or reviewing your bill every month, you will be charged for something you didn't ordered.
Cablevision Family and Basic Cable Do Not Need Cable Boxes by nikita7777 ,Jul 07 '04
Pros: Good Internet Speed. Cons: Too Expensive.
There are two things that I would like to share with Cablevision subscribers. If you have Basic or Family cable service, you do not need cable boxes or remotes. You are being charged a monthly fee for no reason. Just connect the cable from the wall to the t.v. and use your t.v. remote or a universal remote. You will not lose any channels. Return the boxes, why pay for them if you don't have to. If you downgrade your cable to Basic or Family they will not tell you that you do not need a box, they will just keep on charging you. You do need a cable box to order pay per view movies but if you don't order pay per view, why keep the boxes? Also, look on your bill for 1.50 charge marked Additional Set premium Service Fee, if you have Basic or Family cable, you should not be paying that fee. It is only for premium channels and with basic or family service you aren't getting any. Call and tell them to remove it and credit you for all the years or months you paid for their mistake. Hope this will help someone.
Call Cablevision to get $29.99 Family Basic with out triple play by car593958 ,May 18 '09
Pros: None Cons: Expensive and few channels
I called cablevision's disconnect line and threatened to leave. They said they would reduce my $52 dollar rate to $29.99 with out having to do triple play. I will still have to pay for 3 additional boxes. Just wanted to let everyone know this. Call and get your rate reduced.
If I stay with cablevision and get their $29.99 deal and add on the cost of the cable boxes, and another $5 fee, I will be paying over $58 a month. My old rate with tax was around $55, with no boxes. Still its better than paying over $80 if I had to keep Family Basic at the $52 rate and add on the three boxes to view the channels they took away.
Pros: telephone and internet service is good Cons: t.v. service is the worst
Cablevision service in new jersey (bayonne area) is horrible...The picture constantly freezes, we suffer breakup and scrambled pictures and have to re-boot on a regular basis...all this inconveince at an outrageous price....I can't wait for verizon to become available in my area !!!!
Pros: The picture quality is acceptable most of the time. Cons: Service sucks. Overpriced products.
Their representatives treat customers like dirt, both on the phone and in person. People at the service center on Park Avenue, Union City, are worse than third-world government workers.
Pros: None at all Cons: Monopoly your town, Give bad service, Overpriced
I had there TV service for 6 years and there internet for 2. TV signal was horrible. Couldn't see some shows, audio was horrible with some. The internet would stay connected for a total of 5-30 minutes during the later part of my use of the service. There customer support was rude and the people in the store were rude as well. Horrible service! Don't use this if you want to see your shows or use the internet. I switched to DSL and Sattilite TV and it hasn't failed me once.
Pros: Clear HD signal on HD channels Cons: Crappy packages, overpriced, inferior customer service and hardware
I had the same cable box from Time Warner (HD DVR) and was happy with the software and speed I could get to the Channel Guide.
With Cablevision's IO software, you have to go through their ridiculous menu to get to the channel guide. If it was just a two button operation I could live with it. The unfortunate speed and lag at which the box processes a signal from the remote makes it a major drag.
Bottom Line: Waiting for FIOS TV to become avail. in my neighborhood.
Don't even consider trying Cablevision... They have a money back guarantee that cost me $80.00 bucks... They refused to credit me the initial payment and charged me $56.00 dollars more... just for trying it..... Terrible reception... Dish Network is a hundred times better...Better service.. Better Quality... Better price... Cablevision is just out to make a buck where ever they can.. Kinda like Delta
Pros: Optonline service seems to be fairly reliable Cons: everything else is absolute garbage
Don't bother trying digital cable or HDTV in Wappingers Falls..The converter box provides continual digital "pixelation"...Had their crack service team out 5-6 x's with no resolution. Even had them run a the same cable feed they have at the road all the way to the house...The only way I received any response without agreeing to pay for them to come out and try make the service I was paying a ridiculous amount of money for was to get the Cablevision President involved. Pixelation seems to happen consistently at peak usage times during programs you really want to see...eliminating the converter seems to eliminate the pixilation issues so obviously it's an issue with their converters, not the cable in the house as they keep trying to point the finger at
