Pros: Cheap, reliable, easy Cons: Long wait to talk to broker
I've been using Ameritrade for about 3 years. I still also use my broker, despite the fact he charges $100 per trade. Why don't I let go of my personal broker and save myself some money?
For regular equity trades, I have no problem at all...

Pros: Established Company, CHEAP!!! Cons: Not to many "bells and whistles"
First you must ask yourself what you're looking for in an online broker... Full service, quick trades, quality customer support, or all of the above. I've had an account with Amertrade for over two years now, but have been actively trading on the system...

Pros: 8 bucks per online trade regardless of quantity, free research, free 20 minute delayed stock quotes, free stock charts Cons: Not as good research as you'd get from good brokers, but the information is factual, reliable and informative, not theories or personal opinions.
Ameritrade is great. It's only $8.00 per trade, no matter how many shares you are buying or selling. You could buy 10,000 shares of Microsoft, and Ameritrade would only charge you a fee of $8.00. There are no extra hidden costs. There are, however,...

Pros: Cheap Prices, Discounts Occasionally Cons: Not the fastest site out there
I got lucky over Christmas with a special Ameritrade offer. While I was requesting information form various online traders, I surfed into the NY Times and they read my cookies and pushed me an offer from Ameritrade. This offer allowed me to open an...

Pros: Easy to use Cons: Lack of close branches for customer service
I selected this service after I viewed a televison commercial. I subscribed for more information and after I read it I decided it was for me. I knew online trading was the way to go as well.
I like the $8 online commission charges. This...

Pros: 8 bucks a trade, nobody's been able to top that for years... Cons: Minimal features available, no-frills but this is changing rapidly to full-service
There are many online brokerages out there but I have yet to see one that has enough features (at a price) that can lure me away from Ameritrade. Ameritrade's $8 per trade deal is one of the best out there. They've set the low pricing standard for...

Pros: Easy to use site, inexpensive Cons: slow, bad for day-trading, no research, TV ADs are lame
Overall, Ameritrade is a good value for online investing. It has one of the lowest commissions in the industry, and offers high quality customer service.
What follows is a break-down of each individual aspect of Ameritrade.
LONG TERM...

If you're looking for a low-cost discount broker, look no further than Ameritrade. Although they have a minimum initial deposit of $2000, they offer a clean interface, quick trades, and cheap rates -- only $8 for a market stock trade! You get 100 free...

Pros: Cheap Prices, Reliable Web Page Cons: Bulletin Board Stocks must be traded w/ a Broker
Ameritrade - home of the $8 trade - has proven to be very reliable in all my experience. I also have an account w/ Scottsdale and while they are actually cheaper (by a buck), Ameritrade offers a more reliable web site.
As with other online...

Pros: Low cost, readable site with charts and research; helpful 800 number staff Cons: No level 2 quotes, no streamer, but free real-time quotes by the truckoad if you are regularly trading
Once there was a young investor who got an Ameritrade account. A few years ago, it would have been impossible for someone in my position to buy and sell securities, muchless with only a few thousand dollars at my disposal. But Ameritrade and other...

Pros: Easy to use, fast and friendly customer service, low commissions Cons: Limited advanced option plays
So how do you choose between all the online companies? A good question that deserves a good answer. Hopefully I can save you some time by giving you a road map that I followed.

Pros: Low trade costs Cons: Poor market price servicing
Don't get me wrong, I like my online broker. But I have a problem with
it's straight up market trades they execute for you. I have placed
a couple of trades at market price only to find that the trade was
executed at the day's low price. I...
