Lo and Behold, The Glorious Return of the Carpenter ("Let the Sunshine In" Write-off)

by arada392 , Aug 27 '02
Pros: An outstanding package in all departments of sound, graphics, and most of all gameplay.
Cons: The Super Game Boy accessory was necessary for the full effect.
Warning: Very long review ahead!

Our coin-op engineers were really tough, arrogant guys. They didn’t believe anybody made a coin-op as well as they did.

One day they came in and they wanted to take the rights to...

not your grandpa's Donkey Kong

by tommy_lop Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jan 25 '02
Pros: cool game, more then the arcade game
Cons: bad sound, super gameboys are rare, short arcade levels.
Now one of my biggest pet peeves in the gaming world is know it all Pokemon masters complaining that Donkey Kong is not a Mario character. Listen young whippersnappers DK and Mario where in games together before Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, or Bowser ever came...

Talk about neglect...

by 32_Footsteps Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 23 '00
Pros: Finishing what you started years ago, one of the true classics of gaming
Cons: Horrible sound, can look blurry on a normal Game Boy, odd play control, just try getting a hold of a Super Game Boy
Ever wonder about some of the games from yesteryear? For example, the original Donkey Kong. It had our hero Mario (then called Jumpman. Find a very old box and see for yourself.) climbing up the same four levels to try to save Pauline from the title...

The Original--Still As Much Fun As Always

by ChrisJoker , Apr 11 '00
Pros: Combines classic game with new levels; easy to learn the moves
Cons: Can be difficult to see some elements on the small Game Boy screens
A (joking) memo to the designers of Donkey Kong for Game Boy: you clearly did not do a good enough job when you created this game. Why do I say that? Because I managed to actually complete the whole game, each and every level. I had to restrain myself...

A bit of nostalgia for arcade rats of the 80's

by socnorb777 , Sep 26 '00
Pros: Tons of new levels, Nostalgia for those who grew up in the 80s
Cons: Controls not the greatest, doesn't sound the best...but how many gameboy games do?
If you're like me...and God help you if you are... You probably dumped quarter after quarter into the "classics" during your youth. Pac-Man, Galaga, and of course...Donkey Kong. What a terrific game!

Nintendo, looking for a good...

Bad Donkey, good game!`

by ag4me27 , May 27 '00
Pros: Great game
Cons: gameboy game
Dk is not a good guy at first, and has stolen the lovely lady! The levels are short, and yet extremely challenging, which make it fun. Getting the key is tough, but to get it to the door, well, that's may be a problem. The Donkey kong battles are...

100 Levels of Fun

by stony45 , Jun 14 '00
Pros: Fun.
Cons: Difficulty is a bit high, nothing special about the graphics or sound, Control.
Attention: This game is not the original arcade version. The new Donkey Kong is jam-packed with 100 levels, new enemies, and new moves. Do you like long, torturous games, get DK.

Now that Mario has leaned some new moves, he can once again...

(for SUPERNINTENDO)

by desoto_girl , Apr 03 '00
Pros: cool graphics, considerably difficult to beat, interesting, fun
Cons: none
Wow! Am I really playing (the now outdated) Super Nintendo, or is it N64?... That's what it feels like when you're playing any of the Donkey Kong games on Super Nintendo. It's your typical adventure game in the tradition of Mario and other such games,...

Forgotten Greatness

by dragonbreath93 , May 13 '00
Pros: Great Game, Fantastic Gaming Experience, Challenging
Cons: Graphics and Sound Could be Better
This game, forgotten by those in the gaming industry, is really a pioneer into the gaming world. This is the first game with the famous plumber Mario, and it is Donkey Kong's first game also. It opened the way for two great series, while still being an...
