Unless you have to have everything by Square, you don't have to have this.

by Alkaiser Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 18 '99
Pros: It's cutesy...chicks dig it.
Cons: It's lame...gamers don't dig it.
Let’s say you’re a budding game company. You rise through the ranks, and dominate one segment of the market. You are just THE name people think of when it comes to the sector you’ve specialized in. So, what do you do now? Well, if you’re Square, then...

Gipped By A Chocobo

by Kwee , May 09 '00
Pros: Very nice graphics, a multitude of adorable characters, fun magic system to really mess opponents up with. ^_^
Cons: Not really much to do. It gets boring after a while.
I was absolutely ELATED when I heard rumors of a Chocobo racing game. However, I had expected to see the colorful, feathery fellows that I had gotten acquainted with (and blew a lot of gil breeding and taking care of)in Final Fantasy VII....

Chocobo Racing: Square’s big disappointment

by RedLineX , Dec 29 '99
Pros: It has cool cameos and Uhh.. it has Chocobos
Cons: Terrible control, same old racing game, boring tracks, just not fun at all
Racing games are a dime a dozen after Mario Kart. Bomberman has one, Crash Bandicoot has one, Sonic has one even Megaman has one and none of them are as good as Mario Kart. They’re all the same old game redone with new characters. Square’s Chocobo Racing...

The almighty Chocobo thrown into a horrible game

by joker18 , Jun 07 '00
Pros: good secret character, able to customize your own character
Cons: everything else
All I can say is, what went WRONG? It has a great base, Chocobo racing in the Golden Saucer from Final Fantasy VII and a lot of support from all of the Final Fantasy lovers like me and tons upon tons of other people. This game turned out to be...

Square for the little ones

by QueenLyssa , Jun 18 '00
Pros: Cute characters, no violence, easy controls, varied play styles
Cons: Low end graphics, story mode not animated, boring for teens and adults
My two daughters are well aware of my Squaresoft obsession. In fact, it's not uncommon for them to playact Selphie and Quistis on dangerous SeeD missions in our living room. However, they're still a bit too young at 7 and 9 to get the full enjoyment out...

Chocobo Racing

by soniclover , Mar 30 '00
Pros: 2 player mode
Cons: for kids
The mascot-based racing game is such easy money for any developer that you can hardly blame them for churning 'em out. Take a basic racing engine, plug in your company mascot, add some pastel backgrounds and put it on the shelf. Anybody who is a fan of...

Cutesy racing, but still kind of fun.

by Dr_MalPractice , Feb 11 '00
Pros: Cartoony fun, can be a laugh riot occasionally
Cons: Either it's too easy, or too hard
Unless you've living on Mars, in a cave, under a rock, with your eyes closed and your fingers in your ears, you know Square is very successful in the RPG department. But their first attempt at a racing is more than halfway decent, but has it's fair share...

Guess what? It's Mario Kart *cough* Chocobo Racing!

by scott9127 , Aug 23 '01
Pros: Fun gameplay, clever plotline. Many Square characters.
Cons: Repetitive, bad music, too few tracks, blatent Mario Kart ripoff.
This is one of those games that grows on you after a while, then starts getting bad again. When I bought this game (I figured 15 bucks, why not?) I was mildly amused by it. The Materia on the courses were a nice touch, and the Square characters were more...

Reward On Chocobo's Head

by Veryhomicidle , Jan 02 '00
Pros: none
Cons: to elementary and even elementary students don't like it
I will personally pay 1,000 dollars for the decapitation of Chocobo's head because of this game. This game was awful and I saw it coming. I had just got the latest Playstation demo disk and was trying it out. I was looking through the games as usual...

How this game comes out bad....

by Flex , Jan 16 '00
Pros: Good graphics and chocobos...if you like them
Cons: overall terrible game
This game at first looked really cool even though we have all seen the mario kart impersonating games which all were terrible. I personaly am a Square and more specifically Chocobo fanatic. The idea of the chocobo has always entrigued me and i always...

Mario Kart Wannabe...

by labyrinth , Nov 28 '99
Pros: Quest mode, cartoon characters.
Cons: MK64 copycat, confusing items.
Chocobo racing is another Square's attempt to popularize their CHOCOBOS. Just by looking at it, you'll find out it's practically Mario Kart wrapped up with fluffy costumes.

The characters in the game is rather cute, so if you have a girlfriend...

NO MATTER WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY, THIS IS A GREAT GAME!!!!

by wigwam29 , May 20 '00
Pros: Everything
Cons: Cid is an idiot
This is a pretty good game that is not appreciated enough. This is like Mario Cart and the Final Fantasy series put together. I like how Squaresoft relates the characters in Chocobo Racing to the characters in the Final Fantasy series. The story, about a...

chocobo racing

by mike_mack , Apr 02 '00
Pros: secrets
Cons: short game
This game is always said about how bad it is but I think it is pretty good and worth it's price. I bought this game for ten dollars and always can find it cheap if you look at the right places. The game is a lot like Mario cart for 64 but has...

Racing Chocobos

by stevenrules69 , May 13 '00
Pros: Final Fantasy characters
Cons: No mini games
Do you like racing games? Do you like Final Fantasy? Then you might like this. It's nothing new. Same as Mario Kart which was fun at first. I expected more from Squaresoft. They need to forget about racing games and stick to role-playing. The characters...

Most Violent Game Ever

by battlebambi , May 08 '01
Pros: The game has great replay value. It is truly a fun game for the family.
Cons: It is really only good with two player mode.
Chocobo racing is not for the weak hearted. In story mode, the game is okay. But its true colors come out in the two player 'grand prix' mode. Two play the most violent game ever, you should have made Bahamut Class available, and at the least Squall and...
