Tough and durable.

by dboyes , May 06 '02
Pros: Adjustable coffee strength dial, no-spill carafe, audible alert
Cons: produces a lot of steam during brewing, somewhat noisy
We bought this coffee maker for an office full of caffeine-heads -- people who make and drink at least 4-5 pots of coffee a day and are used to coffee that is strong enough to lift weights and kick over hot dog stands without assistance. We'd demolished...

The ultimate coffee pot I can't use

by belle585 , Aug 14 '01
Pros: very easy to use
Cons: does not work well with hard water
I am a kitchen aid nut. So last year when I saw this new
kitchen aid ultra 12 cup coffee pot I just had to get it.
I searched around until I found one for 89.00 and jumped on it.

When I received it I was so amazed. It was so...

The one I've been searching for

by sidamo , Jan 03 '02
Pros: Two heating elements, one for water and another for the warming plate.
Cons: None
My wife and I seldom use an auto drip machine of this size, but we needed one for entertaining family and friends. My search for a good 10-12 cup auto drip started on the alt.coffee newsgroup. I have been roasting coffee at home for years, and my...

KitchenAid quality, style, performance & price

by tracy9 , Apr 24 '01
Pros: Simple to use, sleek design, perfect coffee every time
Cons: Expensive
OK, I admit it! I'm a junkie! I love kitchen stuff! In fact, I have so much kitchen stuff that it has now begun to overflow into most other rooms in my house. But, of all my cookware, appliances, utensils, and serveware, I love my KitchenAid small...

Quality Coffee Maker at a Reasonable Price

by splum , Feb 01 '02
Pros: Simple to use, quick brewing, produces good tasting coffee
Cons: Very noisy, useless external water level indicator
I found the KitchenAid 12-Cup Ultra on sale at the Wegmans Supermarket for $45. The price was a steal for this particular KitchenAid model. Since I was tired of our low-end non-performing Braun coffee maker, it was a good time to replace it.

Coffee anyone? Perhaps some tea?

by momof3girlz , Jul 06 '01
Pros: Makes coffee.
Cons: Replacement charcoal filters are hard to find.
Okay, first off let me tell you, I am not a coffee drinker. I purchased this coffee maker about a year ago for my husband. I chose KitchenAid because I have several of their appliances and have not had any problems. I take that back, I did when I...

NOT HOT ENOUGH

by bugjoy7 , Dec 19 '05
Pros: Nice Features and Design
Cons: Coffee was lukewarm
We purchased this coffee maker because our old Mr. Coffee under the cabinet one died. We were spoiled with the hot coffee our Mr. Coffee Maker made. This machine is well designed and very easy to use, however the coffee seemed warm and did not stay warm...

WORST COFFEE MAKER EVER
by hillygil ,Feb 10 '04
Pros: Nice looking design
Cons: Everything
My husband and I received this coffee maker as a wedding gift in September. We were excited to be getting a "good" coffee maker finally. We have gone through 3 brew baskets in 4 months - the spring isn't strong enough to close off the drip spout, so when you pull the coffee pot out, the coffee continues to drip all over if you want a cup mid-cycle. The hinge on the lid has broken, and we are not rough people! When I wrote to Kitchenaid the last time, I was informed that they have decided to discontinue their coffee maker line, and will reimburse me my purchase price.

Disappointment
by trevorandaspen ,Jan 22 '05
Pros: None
Cons: brew-stop feature, coffee temperature, carafe, price.
I've read several of the positive reviews on this coffee maker and am amazed that we are talking about the same machine. The carafe is anything but spill-proof. Everyone who has used it in our house has had difficulty not spilling coffee on the counter. We've had this coffee maker for approximately two years and recently the temperature of the coffee has been inconsistent. The brew-stop feature that allegedly allows you to pour coffee even during brewing never really worked.

No, I don't recommend it
by sugarandspice1 ,Apr 29 '06
Pros: It's a Kitchen aid
Cons: Not hot enough, loud, spout leaks when pouring
This is the machine that Kitchen aid has recalled thank god because I never really liked it. I like my coffee very hot and this never did do the trick. I will be looking for a thermal crafted type this time.

DON'T BUY THIS COFFEE MAKER
by sfnative ,Sep 08 '05
Pros: It is programmable.
Cons: No longer able to purchase replacement water filters.
YOU CAN NO LONGER PURCHASE REPLACEMENT CHARCOAL WATER FILTERS FOR THIS MACHINE. THEY NO LONGER MANUFACTURE THEM. I WISH I KNEW THIS BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS COFFEE MAKER.

So-so coffee maker
by sfurlan ,Dec 22 '05
Pros: makes a decent cup of coffee
Cons: quality problems, messy pouring
Although this unit makes fairly good coffee, the sneak-a-cup feature never worked. The spout on the caraffe needs to be deeper, wider or something so that you don't spill so much coffee when pouring. It's nearly impossible to pour when the pot is full without making a mess.

I've just learned that this coffee maker has been recalled in Canada, so I'm shopping for a new one. (I assume it's recalled in the U.S. as well).

I thought Kitchenaid Made only good stuff
by xjoel ,Oct 08 '05
Pros: Good Hot Coffee
Cons: The carafe drips when pouring
But then its made by Whrlpool of all things! I know this because there is a recall on this product. I have to admit that this coffeemaker does make a good cup of coffee but then just about all coffee makers do. The hot plate DOES keep the temperature just right. The down side of this product is that the carafe drips when you try to pour coffee no matter how careful you try to be and like a previous reviewer claimed, the spring loaded plunger that is supposed to allow you to remove the carafe while coffee is still brewing doesn't always work. I think that is because occasionally coffee grounds get stuck under the filter paper and work there way down into the little valve that regulates coffee flow.
