U-Haul Dealer Dissatisfied

Pros: As a U-Haul dealer your business qualifies for their group health insurance plan. Cons: No corporate support, no training.
I have been a U-Haul dealer for 3 months now and want to let people know that customers are not the only ones being mistreated. Promises of equipment delivery in time for reservations are hardly ever kept and when I attempt to speak with their Traffic Dept. to solve the problem, I have been hung-up on, messages not returned, or responses like "Oh Well!"
Without alerting me that U-Haul had an agreement with another dealer less than a mile from me that they would receive preferential treatment over me I signed up. Corporate has never contacted me, the area field rep never trained me, and there is no equipment to spare. Too many dealerships too close to each other is not a positive competitive climate.
I am fed up and going to drop out of being a U-Haul dealer and represent Penske because they will not set up another dealer in my area (written in the contract).
If you decide to "Go U-Haul" let the buyer beware!

Three Broken Trucks in 3 Days

Pros: Cheap Cons: Unreliable, old trucks, terrible customer service, poorly managed, bad follow up
I had 3 U Haul trucks break down on me this summer over a 3 day period. I spent 14 hours sitting along the roadside waiting to be towed and another 8 hours on the phone trying to get some customer service and replacement trucks. A 2 day trip took me 5 days and I only made it because they had the last U Haul truck hauled by a flat bed truck to my destination. Do yourself a favor and try another company!

rock bottom -- try Enterprise, Ryder, Budget, ANYBODY but U-Haul.

Pros: User-friendly website, but looks deceive! In 2006, totally unreliable for a commercial transaction. Cons: Not ready for prime time! Customer service unimaginably bad. Rude, unsympathetic people all the way.
I made my reservation online, my reservation was promptly confirmed by e-mail and at the website, and I was supposed to be called the next day regarding location and time to pickup the truck. I got no call, and then found that my reservation was apparently not in the system. I had "confirmed reservation", accessible on the website, but they claimed it wasn't in their system and they had no idea what happened. To add insult to injury, every single person with whom I spoke about my situation was rude, had attitude, had no sympathy whatsoever, and no interest in determining what went wrong or assisting me with making another reservation with them (AS IF I would, anyway). I went with Enterprise, reserved with a man who actually talked to me like a human being, and -- get this -- I saved nearly $150 over what U-Haul would have charged me.

Pros: The price was reasonable and the work that was done was perfect. Cons: everthing was perfect
I had work done on my trailer hitch that was on my green ford at 290 jefferson rd. henrietta n.y. 14623-- 585-292-7000.
The guys were very helpful and went out of their way to do a great job. I will recommend them anytime.

Wonderful Experience with U-Haul!

Pros: The movers were wonderful! They were capable and honest. The rental return was easy. Cons: There were none. We called at 8:30 and had a truck by 11:00.
The moving company we had scheduled doubled their price (cash only) the morning of our move! We sent them away and called U-Haul. They provided us with a 14 foot truck and moving help in New York on that afternoon. They also provided us with moving help in Boston for the next day. The movers were great. They saved the day! They restored our faith in people after our horrible experience with South North Moving and Storage LLC.

U-HAUL - HWY 99TH, WA. - TOTAL RIPOFF

Pros: Absolutely NO PROS in renting from this place. Cons: I AM TOTALLY DISSATISFIED AND WILL ATTEMPT TO FILE A FORMAL.
I reserved a *12 FT. TRUCK, A WEEK A IN ADVANCE WITH late check-in BY 9:30PM* at no additional charge and confirmed the order a day prior to renting the damned thing. I was totally shafted. What they had for me was a *17 FT. TRUCK with check-in NO LATER THAN NOON*, which only gave us 1.5 hrs, to unload everything for a 3 bedroom/2 bath apartment as it was already reserved for the following day. How in the world am I going to move everything in, in that short of a time? I was told that if I bring it in any later, *I WILL BE CHARGED AN EXTRA DAY IF NOT RETURNED BY NOON. They were very matter of fact and not a single apology was given. THEY PROVIDED THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER RECEIVED.
IF YOU WANT TO BE TOTALLY LIED TO AND OVERCHARGED, RENT FROM THE U-HAUL ON HWY 99TH.
I'm sure most of you will agree that it's stressful and expensive enough to move with this happening.
I WAS TOTALLY DECEIVED and I will complain to their corporate office if possible or the owner.

WORST COMPANY EVER

Pros: i got to read these incredibly funny and sadly true reviews Cons: less enjoyable than being kicked in the crotch...repeatedly
I do not want to get into too much detail and be forced to re-live our horrible experience. Basically, they never had our truck, despite the fact that we had a 'reservation.' We called many times, dealt with morons, and sat on hold for hours. The customer service people were rude, incompetent, uncaring, and soulless. If there is a g-d, he will strike down this company soon.

Not only was my experience with U-haul helpful, one person Napolian went over and beyond of the call of duty to ensure I had a truck through a stressful and unexpected move. Words could never express my gratitude to him.

Bad Service, no truck on moving day

Pros: one way drop off Cons: poor organisation, bad service, bad trucks, last minute arrangements, expensive..
Its 11 am on my moving day... i have people waiting for me at my destination which i have to reach by 5pm.. i reserved 1 week in advance and i still have no truck!!
I was supposed to get a call 24 hrs in advance to tell me where to pick up my truck. no call. so i have been calling the 800 numbers i waited 20 min yesterday and 35 minutes today!! just to be told "we are still waiting for our trucks to come in"
How can such a large organization not know when their trucks are coming in, where they are, or what trucks they will get in (large or small)!!! i don't get it!!!

Why not to U-Haul

Pros: many locations Cons: these locations may not have trucks, surprise!
While watiting at Penske for my truck (as per recommendation of epinions reviewers) TWO people called and said U-Haul gave them the day before call--- and said they had no trucks at all to rent in Las Vegas. They had confirmed reservations, but U-Haul does not guarantee that they will actually have a truck for you at all. Now these people were scrambling to find a truck less than a day before thier move.

Uhaul Cheating on Gas

Pros: Convenient internet booking Cons: Long wait time. Crappy truck. And deceptive charging for gas.
We rented a truck to move within Cambridge,MA in Cambridge. When we rented gas was between 2/8th and 3/8th but the guy rounded up to 3/8th. We drove 12 miles. The gas was at the same setting between 2/8th and 3/8th. But the second guy rounded down. Made us pay a service charge of 30$ plus gas (1$). When we said sure we drive somewhere and refill the galleon he said "its already in the computer" and "will you pay or not pay".

Pros: Haven't found any yet Cons: Be prepared if you rent here because there is ALWAYS a bad surprise.
This seems borderline illegal to me. Uhaul charges $5 to hold your reservation. There is a whole list of advisories and disclaimers on their website about rental terms, cancellations etc. Guess what? Nowhere on the entire site do they state that the $5 charge is nonrefundable if you cancel or they screw up your reservation. Never states it in the reservation confirmation you receive from them either.

Pros: Reasonable pricing.
Reliable equipment. Cons: Too much penalty for keeping the truck/dolly/blankets for a extra day or so
Well, we went for a move of 780 miles and the move went without a problem. The reservation and the confirmation of it went just fine. We were happy with the overall experience. Will use again when the need is. It was a 17 foot gas truck which was reliable and pulled my car on an auto transport just fine.

U Haul Storage stole $500.00

Pros: There is nothing positive I can say about them. Cons: U haul is a bunch of criminals.
I helped a friend by paying for a months storage with my debit card. Since then I discovered they have taken an additional $500.00 from my checking account. I have no connection or agreement with u haul. They said they can use "whatever means possible" to collect storage fees according to the agreement my friend signed. They have refused to return my money.
