Pros: Compact, lots of features, well engineered, well made. Cons: None
I have finally decided to retire the poorly engineered and made D-Link roq-it MP3 jukebox. This piece of junk could not keep playing music even when I was hiking.

Pros: Features galore, well built, price, user support Cons: Uses CDs, needs all metal frame, the "toilet" faceplate design.
First off, finding iRiver products is very difficult in North America. Especially if you don't feel like going through online sources - honestly, online shopping sucks for those of us who wants the product NOW. For those of you in the Greater Toronto...

Pros: Does everything AS ADVERTISED, without fail. And it's firmware upgradeable! Cons: The window of my remote got scratched, which was my fault. Otherwise, flawless.
I've owned my SlimX iMP-350 for over a month, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I rarely splurge on toys that I'm not sure I'll use often enough, but since owning this little gem, I'm listening to music all the time. In fact, I take it...

I've had mine for about 2 years. Very solid. I've treated it like crap and it hasn't really lost any steam. The sound quality is pretty good and the real metal shell is really classy. One problem is that because its so thin it can't take AA batteries in ...

This is by far the best mp3/cd player one could get and I don't think anyone looking for an mp3/cd player should second guess their decision to get an iriver slimx, except maybe if the price tag is a little high for them, I got mine for 170 which is a...
Pros: reads MP3, WMA, and m3u; lightweight, great remote w/LCD; firmware upgradeable Cons: nearly none
If you are looking for an MP3 CD player, this is probably your best bet now that the price has come down. The SlimX is incredibly lightweight, and I love the remote LCD with all the buttons that let you navigate, change mode, volume +/-, and so on....
Pros: Sturdy; skip-free; very functional remote; reads everything. Cons: Lots of functions for the few remote buttons (lots of learning to do).
A year ago, I bought an RCA CD/MP3 player. It was terrible (and whenever I was at an electronics store and saw someone considering it, I warned them off). Still, the thing worked, more or less. But I was not a happy camper with it.
Pros: long battery life
easy to navigate
very cheap
beautiful design
firmware upgradable
fm tuner Cons: door not very tight, wobbles a bit, and possibly let sand in at beach trip
it's difficult to decide what kind of personal audio player to buy with so many different types on the market. it seems like an average cd-player that does nothing else just no longer cuts it, and the reason why is because of machines like this.

I have tried numerous MP3/CD players and I have yet to find one as beautifully designed as the iMP-350. I bought mine months ago for $200 plus shipping, and still think it's a great buy. Now it is available everywhere for $150. Don't pass this up. Every...

This is an excellent player for any music lover. It plays both Mp3, CD's, CD-R's, and it even has a built in radio. It's hard to get this player to skip. You will never want to put this one away or get a new one. You more than likely will never have to...
Pros: Cheap, plays MP3, WMA, CD Cons: CHEAP, plays MP3, WMA, CD, FM, POORLY, wires everywhere
Geez, what great reviews on this product on Epinions. My experience has been slightly different. The bottom line (in my opinion) is this: if you're going to be moving around (exercising, painting, doing other chores) that involve motion, don't waste your ...
Pros: Elegant design, remote control keeps player out of sight Cons: Tinny sound, volume too low, eq controls unresponsive. Skips too much

Pros: Everything, Top Quality in Function and Style!!! Cons: The Remote!!!- too cheap and plastic for a device this expensive

Pros: Looks good. Great features Cons: Not durable, many problems.
I purchased this unit as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. The unit was great at the beginning, tons of features, great looks. After 6 months, the unit stopped recognizing disk for no apparent reason. IRiver replaced the unit under warranty with a refurbished unit and a defective remote. Since I had kept the original remote, I didnt bother with that problem. Well 1 year later, the unit is broken again, same problem. So out I go to get another CD player, this time I will stick to Sony or Panasonic.
Pros: No much skipping Cons: buttons and controls are onerous
I don't know what all the rave is about. My worked fine, but it was a pain to have the battery and the display outside of the player -- feels like some the guts are hanging out of the body. The designer also try to fit too many functions into just a few button and if you push the wrong button the wrong way, it could take a while to recover.
What you need to know about the Skip Protection by blurgerster ,Dec 06 '03
Pros: Lots of useful features, Intuitive controls, Slim size & Cool styling Cons: Poor skip protection for standard audio cd's.
Good product. Thumbs up
Before purchasing I was confused by the contradictions i was reading from reviewers in regards to the skip protection. I decided to purchase the imp350 and I'm very happy with it. My experience is that the skip protection is poor when playing standard audio discs. However, skip protection works very well with mp3 cd's. I believe this is due to the compressed mp3 format allowing most of the song to fit into the imp350's buffer memory. So far while playing mp3s, it has been flawless for me. If you intend to use this product more for standard cd's you might be disappointed but for mp3 cd's it does the trick.
Sure, the remote is a little small but it's clear and well lit. Besides, when it comes to portable electronics, small is a positive.
I hope this has helped you in making your decision.
My iMP-350 saved my sanity by mickeyman62 ,Oct 21 '03
Pros: Great size, looks, sound, and the remote is handy. Cons: Slow to initially start playing MP3s but fine after first track.
I bought my iRiver 350 six months ago and haven't regretted it a bit. It is a must have on my daily hour long bus commute to work. I just kick back and listen to my favorite artists or listen to books on CD and wait for the bus to drop me off. The remote takes a bit of a learning curve but basic function are a snap. The FM turner actually works pretty good, even in a remote area. I can get about 8 hours of MP3 play time on a charge. The ear buds may not be the best but I think they have good sound, even on a noisy bus. The soft bag case is rather simple but does protect the unit. My only complaints are that it can take up to 30 seconds to grab the first MP3 track when I turn it on and that the ear buds are always getting tangled when I put it away. Not much you can do about that.
Best Portable Audio Device Ever. by DPU2002 ,Oct 15 '03
Pros: Rechargable batteries, LCD monitor, MP3 support, upgradable software Cons: A tad bulky for just carrying around
I don't think I could ever live without this machine. I truthfully go everywhere with it. The convenient size, storage space, and amazing features make this player a great buy. I think one of the best features is it's ability to play MP3 formatted files.
Features
- LCD monitor
- MP3 support
- You can update the software on the player
- Battery life of about 15 hours with the battery adaptor
- Rechargable batteries
- Digital radio tuner
This cd player is one of the best values for personal audio. The amount of storage you can get on one CD for mp3s is far worth the value of the player.
This is by far the best CD/MP3 player I have ever used. I would recommend this player to anybody. It looks incredible. Not to mention, the LCD display is great. I can’t find anything wrong with it. I have yet to hear it skip. This player is well worth the money.
The SlimX-iMP 350 works beautifully... by rae2-2_dt3000 ,Nov 12 '02
The SlimX-iMP 350 works beautifully but it is FINE equipment - not recommended for use by careless kids! I recommend users make the effort to read the manual to become familiar with the controller. It doesn't take long before you learn how to operate the unit BY FEEL - great for in-bed nighttime listening. The bud earphones supplied are of good quality but sound is GREATLY enhanced by using high quality earphones instead.
Too bad iRiver hasn't designed some kind of case, other than the (useless) velvet bag supplied, to make the unit convenient to carry. With the external battery pack attached, plus bud or other earphones, you soon have an unmanageable tangle of dangling parts and wires. A firm, padded, custom fitted case to hook on your belt or be used over-the-shoulder would be ideal.
Better than simple MP3/WMA player(max 128MB)This i-river player looks so good you are afraid to scratch it(and you know will),invest in rugged case of some sort, you won't even need to access the player since there is a RC and find a way to protect the latest, cause you can hang it on your clothes which means it's going to get it(bruises).Better talk about the CONS cause these are the only problems, everything else is the BOMB,dig the lighted LCD(blue),multi functions click/scroll buttons(like internet mice)All controls are totally custumizable, which so cool when you are a control freak, and peep this there is sound level meter like in WMP(only L R)easy to skip through songs(jump by 10)easy to program and import Winamp playlists, the volume goes up to 40 and that is loud!!like the extra AA battery pack thing and included NiMH batteries with power adapter. But enough said, buy it!!,buy it!! but write to i-river and tell'em to think about better carring cases for theses "gems"
