Pros: Great music supporting a great cause. Cons: none
I found this album to be well worth my time. Each song carried it's own meaning and style, so listening to the album became quite an adventure as each track brought something totally new. It's pretty easy to forget that it is a soundtrack. This album is definitely worth a listen, and after the first few songs you'll realize why this stands alone so well. The series on PBS is also amazing, so check it out!
Also, the press release of the album has more information about it and even a link to a music video. Check it out at http://www.rockpaperscissors.biz/index.cfm/fuseaction/current.press_release/project_id/216.cfm

Hurrahs for New Heroes by showfinger10 ,Jun 23 '05
Pros: This is a must for any collector of world music, or searcher of truth. Cons: Nothing negative - except it is only one cd and not several.
I have just emersed myself in Christopher Hedge's cd "New Heroes" for the umpteenth time. I find this cd can be enjoyed not only as a focused listening point, but also as wonderful musical sound canvas supporting whatever you may be doing in your home life. I have listened to this in my backyard, often hearing points of sound from different parts of the world punctuating the conversation at hand, to just adding it to the ambient sounds of nature at my home. I have also just sat and been lost in the blending and layering of sounds and human experiences that emanate from the collage of Chris's music. Each time I listen to "New Heroes" I hear something new and find a new emotion creeping into my experience. The combination of ambient sounds and the addition of the wonderful artists that have collectively given to this album create a musical adventure of the highest order.
I always leave each listening experience with renewed hope that there can be change in this world.
