Pros: Strong first half, clubby focus, and some of Andy Bell's best lyrics in ages Cons: The album loses its focus later on, becoming maudlin and moody

Andy Bell's Electric Blue - Better Than I Thought!
by eroundds ,Oct 15 '05
Pros: Enough songs to make it worth getting the CD Cons: Just a couple songs that are taking longer to grow on me.
I have been an avid fan and supporter of Erasure since the early '80's with Wonderland, gathering all singles, vinyl and cd, and all albums. My favorite Erasure albums - "Wild!" "Chorus" "I Say I Say I Say" "Erasure" When I heard that Andy was doing his own album, I was eager to hear what he would do without his music collaborator, Vince Clark. Well, it's great! Andy Bell has really put together an almost flawless consistent collection of melodies, hooks, and tunes that are pleasantly stuck looping in my head.
Electric Blue offers several 5-star songs - Caught In a Spin, Crazy, Love Oneself (with Claudia Brücken), I Thought It Was You (with Jake Shears), Shaking My Soul, Runaway, I'll Never Fall In Love Again, Electric Blue, Little Girl Lies (extra song with Crazy single).
Get this album, it's one of what I hope to be many more from Andy Bell and his entourage of Claudia, Jake and Manhattan Clique!
