Pros: Great band, Harry's voice, some superb tracks Cons: New Wave & pop songs haven't aged as well as some others
I find it more than just a bit ironic that many music listeners got their first taste of rap music in the from of the Debbie Harry fronted Blondie. Who could have possibly guessed that Rapture would help to thrust the predominantly urban...
Pros: Punk to disco to rap. Blondie blazed a trail. Cons: Missing a few top hits. Some air play versions.
If you have the urge to break out your polyester suit and elevator shoes, then crank up Blondie, The Best of Blondie. On second thought, skip that leisure suit and those toe-pinching shoes. Some things from the 70s are best forgotten, but...
Pros: Brilliant pop music by one of the best bands ever Cons: Nothing could go wrong
A stripped-down, pretty much essential compilation, "'Best of Blondie" gathers the group's most important material. Though they're arranged in a somewhat counterintuitive way, all their best songs are here. From the disco pulse of "Heart of Glass", to ...
Pros: Some fine new wave gems Cons: Sound quality is a bit tinny
Blondie was always a strange band, when you think about it. For years, it was labeled as a punk band. Then, it was called a new wave band. Truth be told, it sounds like a pop band to me that was as influenced by disco and other trends in the late 1970s...
Pros: Deborah Harry's voice, influential band of late 70's, early 80's. Cons: Sound quality, more songs.
I first heard about the band like 2 years ago but watching VH1 most influential videos of the 80's. I started looking around the internet and found more information on them as a band who was more of a "singles band" than an album band, but either way,...
Pros: Classic songs from the New Wave period Cons: A couple of tracks too long (?)
During my high school days (or should I say "daze"), I was rarely seen roaming the halls without my trusty Walkman earphones on my head, jamming out to The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Cheap Trick or Devo. It was the era of New Wave (whatever the...
Pros: Great collection of Blondie hits, never boring Cons: not one
My mom came to visit me last year while I was in college and she volunteered to bring some of my no longer needed stuff back home. When I saw her pick up my Blondie cd I freaked. "What are you doing with that!!!" I shouted at her. "Oh,...
Pros: Well-known hit songs Cons: The sound quality is poor on the CD, find it on vinyl
Blondie was best known for the the many different styles of music they included on each album - punk, pop, rock, calypso, rap, swing and others. But unlike most 70s bands which mixed genres, they didn't cheapen their music with cheesie synths,...
Pros: One of the greatest female pop artists... Cons: What's she gonna do for an encore?
Back when the Punk Revolution was in its formative stages, an ex-Playboy bunny, Debbie Harry, along with Chris Stein and Jimmy Destri, decided to throw in their lot with the New Wave and debut as Blondie on the NY club scene. They did their time at...
The Best of Blondie album is a good album. I bought it because their where a few songs on it like the "The Tide Is High". I never really considered myself a big Blondie fan but did enjoy some of the music on occassion.
Here are the track...
Pros: Great range, Great Music, Great Band Cons: A couple songs not to my taste
This CD is a third of my holy trilogy of CDs... the third. But to be fair, the first two come from the Doors and the Beatles. The only thing that sets Blondie behind them are the flops to my ears... More on that later.
Pros: Good commercial record Cons: doesn't even touch the best this band produced
Like one of their many intellectually stimulating songs, Blondie has managed to fade away and radiate. No one will let this band die.
The Best of Blondie is the best commercial collection of the music and the worst introduction the...
Blondie is very important to the musical culture of our world today. She set the standard for sexy females in the punk music industry. She was sharp and stylish and had so many disco and punk hits!
"The Best of Blondie" is the...
Pros: A good taste with a bit of everything and no fillers. Cons: All studio work, one remix and no previously unreleased material.
The Best Of Blondie was the first rock album I heard, and one of the first I acquired. It's a great sampling of their work, giving a taste of most of the styles Blondie dabbled in, including disco, reggae, rap, rock, and punk. On one hand, it's got no fillers, but on the other, it contains only the best known songs, and in some ways lacks depth. This disk will suck you in and make you a rabid fan if you let it, but if you already know the group, there's no need. (the only track unique to this disk is a mix of Sunday Girl which is partially in French and partially in English)
I suggest this disk for the new or occasional listener, but not for those who already know this fantastic group.
