Good for kids and beginners

by inkanus , Apr 23 '01
Pros: Informative, good start for amateur sea-lovers
Cons: Too short, full 3-D effects were not put to work here
The Living Sea is a documentary on life at sea and our interactions with the sea. It is hosted by Meryl Streep, who does a good job as narrator. It not only explore life at sea, but goes into depth about different cultures and their relationship with...

The Sappy, Melodramatic Sea

by drfoster88 , May 29 '01
Pros: Beautiful fish footage, interesting topic.
Cons: Overly romantic-melodramatic, stories to snore for!
Going into the theater, I thought this movie would be an interesting mix of life-sized fish and interesting information. Was I ever wrong!

The movie started with an introduction, in which the narrator talked romantically about how pretty fish...

Unfulfilled Expectations

by fursty , Aug 04 '00
Pros: Some great scenes
Cons: Lame attempt at telling stories, too much environmental rhetoric
This film could have been spectacular. I saw this one at the incredible Imax dome at the San Jose Tech Museum, where the theater is absolutely spectacular. And as an avid snorkeler, my wife and I were really looking forward to the fim.

by cnsmarlin , Apr 05 '00
Pros: Amazing quality....Takes you to a place you've never been.
Cons: It could be longer.

The Living Seas, LIVE!

by TAHILL , Jan 03 '00
Pros: Brings the sea to life for those afraid of being on it in person.
Cons: The sound is very loud.
I saw The Living Seas with my family in Myrtle Beach, SC. The large
screen brings the sea to life. When viewing you can not help but look
to the creator and give glory to him for all the beautiful creatures of
the sea. The color,...

Ummm, go sea it?

by anildash , Oct 28 '99
Pros: Nice fish pix!
Cons: Expensive like all IMAX
Truly spectacular. There are certainly moments when this IMAX film doesn't use the large-format print to its full potential, but if you pay attention to the narrative, you'll be so engrossed you won't notice.

There are dozens of remarkable...

I "Sea" A Good Film

by Paneless , Dec 09 '99
Pros: Interesting, good music, narration
Cons: Too short, could have benefited from more Hollywood help
While not much more than a giant documentary, "The Living Sea" is an interesting and intermittently enjoyable tale of a few researchers and their playground, the living sea.

Shot with real scientists and not actors, a sense of...

Sting ME Jellyfish

by Traysea73 , Mar 15 '00
Pros: visuals and music
Cons: not a one
This movie is a lush treat for the senses. The peace and majesty of the ocean is brought to life by the IMAX style of filming. The amazing bounty of flora and fauna of the ocean is brought vividly to the viewer by way of immersion in the ocean itself....

The Living Seas was an IMAX film that my 5 year old son really wanted to see, so on one recent weekend, we decided to indulge him. My daughter was a bit nervous about the 3D part of the film but we reassured her it would be alright. Well, in all ...
