Pros: Incredible sound track and perfect mechanicals Cons: None
The sound track to the Guns of Navarone will stay with you. Most of the music is instrumental. There is one song (ironically sung by Mitch Miller and the Gang) that is actually good.
The story line is straight forward. The heroes have to...

Pros: A classic in every sense of the word. Cons: May be considered too slow for the MTV generation. Be ready for in depth story.
Do reviews posted need to be overwhelmingly long? In some cases yes. But when it comes to movies that have been seen time and time again on cable and television perhaps not. You know the film, you know the characters so why go on except for those who are ...

Pros: Great entertainment Cons: Incredible--and so what?
“The Guns of Navarone” is one of those great war movies in the vein of “Where Eagles Dare” and “The Dirty Dozen”: a small, highly skilled, and intrepid team of Allied commandos plunge off into the dark recesses of the Third Reich to accomplish a secret ...

Pros: storyline is unparalleled, excellent picture Cons: Added features aren't anything special
I'm pretty sure I've seen the Guns of Navarone before, but I dont remember what happened. I saw my local Blockbuster had the new DVD of it and I rented it.
Let me tell you, I LOVE WW2 movies. My favorites include 'The Great Escape', 'The...

Pros: Restored and Remastered to original condition Cons: Accept no substitutes for the remastered edition
The restored and remastered edition of the "Guns of Navarone" shines as a great example of film making. Based on the Alistair McClain novel of the same name, we get to follow a rough and ready group of men sent on a mission to destroy the...

Pros: Good if sometimes imperfect World War II action-adventure tale; great acting, good script Cons: A few goofs here and there.
On June 22, 1961 by coincidence, the 20th anniversary of Adolf Hitlers invasion of the Soviet Union writer-producer Carl Foremans The Guns of Navarone premiered in the United States. Not only was it the first of several ...

Pros: Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn,David Niven Strong Acting and story Cons: None in a movie of this caliber
This movie is another one of my personal favorites from world war 2. This tells the story of british commandos and Greek resistance fighters and how they took out deadly artilery pieces on navarone.
The cast is first rate as most movies of it...

Pros: Cast, writing, cinematography, music, most of the special effects. Cons: A few slow spots or dated effects. Logic does, and should, take a back seat.
People these days. I have read some reviews of The Guns of Navarone and other such war action/adventure films on amazon.com, and some on here, where the reviewers treated it like they expected more then entertainment. Yes, the Germans were much...

Pros: Peck, Quinn, Papas, Story, Photography, Special Effects Cons: Abrupt editing at times
The Guns of Navarone (1961)
Starring Gregory Peck and Anthony Quinn, this film put Alistair McLean on the map as a writer of gripping adventure novels. Later films written by McClean and adapted to the screen include Where Eagles Dare,...

Pros: Character development, good pacing Cons: Gregory Peck not the best choice for the role he plays
Many of the late Alistair MacLean's novels have been made into successful films Where Eagles Dare, Breakheart Pass. The Guns of Navarone is another example.
The story centers on a team of six Allied soldiers, attempting to infiltrate a...
