Pros: Performances by Diane Lane and Thelonius Bernard (who never made another movie), Georges Delerue's score Cons: Scenery-chewing acting by Sally Kellerman
For Jean At the time, I was in love with a young beauty who had just walked into my high school homeroom floating on an air of coyness and freckles. When I say "love," I don't just mean your ordinary garden-variety. No sir. ...
Pros: Great performances, charming, funny, and real Cons: None
"A Little Romance" is a sweet, endearing tale of first love that also indirectly points out how adults make relationships more complicated than they need to be. Featuring the lovely Diane Lane in her film debut, a charming young French actor...
Pros: The review says it all. Cons: Some scenes are a bit sitcom-ish
I went to a video store closing and they had a grab-bag full of movies. For $50, you would get 100 movies and so when I took my movies home with me, the first movie I got was "A little romance". Boy, did this movie bring back some...
Pros: Diane Lane, Sir Lawrence Olivier, a great love story, and great chemistry between the actors. Cons: a bit corny but in a good way, and may make some grown men cry.
This movie is a classic. It is a charming story of young love, and it is done brilliantly. It stars Diane Lane in her film debut as a young American girl named Lauren who is now living in France with her family. She is a very smart intellectual girl...
Pros: Great acting Cons: Not available in DVD yet.
When I first watched this film, I only got to watch the last 5 minutes of it. Hardly the ideal way to watch a movie for the first time. But that last scene left an impression and I looked up the movie. I watched the film from beginning to end and...
Pros: Cool scenery, cool actors and cool plot lines Cons: Absolutely none. Its a good movie. Will appeal to today's kids as well.
I saw this movie in a movie hall with my girlfriend. And I fell in love with Diane Lane. And also I gained points with my girlfriend for having a tender sentimental side.
Its a movie about kids in Paris in the summertime. With a setting like that its hard to go wrong. The kids are smart, convincing, creative and funny. Its got very little violence, a bit of implied sex and an awful lot of romance and a lot of adventure. The movie is set in France and bit of Italy.
The plot is boy finds girl, boy tries to get girl and in the end the girl goes home. That's as much of the plot that I am going to give away.
The mark of a great movie is that after it ends you care enough about the characters to wonder what happened to them and talk about alternative endings to the story. This movie has stayed with me for about 20 years. Very few movies have that much staying power.
