Pros: Gore, gore and more gore Cons: Fulci was never one for a great story or plot
This Italian version of DAWN OF THE DEAD is, in my opinion, probably as good as that classic, or at the very least, damn close in the hands of legendary gore conoisseur Lucio Fulci. Fulci knows exactly how to fashion a gore flick, and here he displays...

Pros: Better than most other spaghetti zombie flicks Cons: Bad dubbing, wooden acting, too gory for some
Old spaghetti zombie flicks are often known for their cheap effects, bad dubbing and poor direction. An example of this would be none other than Bruno Mattei¡¦s Hell of the Living Dead, a film which probably had half a dozen other names outside of North...

Pros: Great gore and zombie make up Cons: Unrealistic characters, weak plot, worthless scenes,
When a boat turns up in the New York Harbor. A Coast Guard patrol team begin to investigate. After an encounter with a zombie leaves one dead, the police get involved. The boat belongs to the father of Ann Bowles(Tisa Farrow) who happens to be ...

Pros: The notorious set pieces still disturb, and there is merit to some formal elements. Cons: Tedious, senseless, lacking adventure, drama and even horror.
My feelings for Lucio Fulci have changed somewhat in the past several years, mostly due to a sense of boredom as well as disappointment with his hype. I was introduced to what people consider his hands-down "masterpiece" at my local video store, the same ...

Pros: Comprehensive, gory and above all watchable. Cons: Occasionally poor dubbing and the editing can be just awful.
There is an irresistible simplicity to Zombie Flesh Eaters; from the eerie opening shot of an unidentified sailboat drifting ominously into New York harbour, to the horrific final moments as zombies converge upon the Big Apple, this is a pleasingly...

Pros: Develops a *gasp* story, shark vs. zombie scene, great gore Cons: Takes a while to get to the heavy zombie action, a bit contrived
After being introduced to the works of Italian horror director Lucio Fulci through the jumpy and nonsensical City of the Living Dead (AKA The Gates of Hell), watching his wonderful Living Dead rip-off, Zombie, was a joy (and a...

Pros: gore, score, efficient direction Cons: story is good, but not great
If I had to pick 3 zombies films that stand out from the rest I'd most definetly end up with Michele Soavi's Cemetery Man, George Romero's Dawn of the Dead, and Lucio Fulci's Zombie.
Released in 1979, Zombie is the story of two people (Ian...

Pros: Giannetto de Rossi's gore FX, outstanding zombies, final half-hour is fantastic! Cons: We have to wait for that final half-hour, a couple boring scenes...
ZOMBIE (93mins, "unrated" version) Director: Lucio Fulci Starring: Tisa Farrow, Ian McCulloch, Al Cliver, Richard Johnson, Annetta Gay, Olga Karlatos, Dakkar(uncredited), Alternate titles: "ZOMBI 2", "ZOMBIES 2", "ZOMBI 2 THE DEAD ARE AMONG US", "WOO ...

Pros: Truly terrifying, realistic nightmare. Cons: Effects are disturbingly real: NOT for the squeamish. Also, the dubbing is....well....REALLY BAD. But, I guess it's not so noticeable that it lessens the effect of the movie. I'm sure most people don't watch for dubbing quality on films like I do. ^_^
Over many years, I have had a rather innate fascination with death. I have, since I was about 9, read into and studied intensely the fields of forensic science and pathology, and the psychology of the human mind. In my progressiveness, I became...

Pros: Great gore, visuals and zombies Cons: Weak characters, poor dubbing, not a very original script
Supposed to be a “sequel” to George A. Romero’s “Dawn of the Dead”, Lucio Fulci's “Zombie” is a movie that, despite having little originality, still succeeds as a truly gratifying experience in Italian horror. Despite having a dubbing job that...

Pros: Splendid gore effects, adequate direction Cons: Completely boring, derivative, and overrated
For some strange reason, horror-philes always name this film when asked to identify a classic. I personally do not see how that came to be. It has taken me a while to finally get into the whole Euro-horror scene and this was one of the first films I went...

Pros: supergory scenes, splinter in the eye Cons: dumb accents, not much explanation
Okay, this movie IS good, but there is one thing you must get straight before you hail Fulci as a genius: This was meant to be a sequel to George A. Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD, which originally was released overseas as ZOMBIE. Fulci's film was released...

Pros: Everything about it is fantastico! Cons: It ends.
Yes, the one that started it all as far as Italian-made "Dawn of the Dead" rip-offs are concerned, and by far one of the best. Wait, rip-off is too harsh of a word, let's try wannabe-sequels instead. Since "Dawn..." was titled...
