Pros: Funny, witty, intelligent, well-acted, cinematography Cons: Utterly Predictable Plot
Steve Martin is one of "those comedians" who it's almost hard to take seriously. Or he used to be. More and more he's been displaying his other side, the one that is intelligent, dignified and, well, adult. A few years ago, while reading "The New...

Pros: To see a softer side of Steve Martin. To see his adorable daughter. Cons: A little melodramatic.
I do not even remember how I came to watch this movie. I think my mother had bought it at one of those big Blockbuster sales for like two dollars, but I found that this was a very good movie.
Steve Martin plays a man who is excited about...

Pros: a lot of view points from both sides of the fence Cons: once again the all-mighty dollar is the supposed medicine to cure all ills
I'm not one for melodrama movies but once I realized that Steve Martin's character was NOT the biological parent of the main child in this movie I was glued.
So here I go ranting and raving about those issues that seem to fall prey on...

Pros: acting, compelling plot Cons: a few under developed characters, a few rushed scenes
I tuned into "A Simple Twist of Fate" purely to see Steve Martin. Having never read "Silas Marner", I have nothing to compare it to, and instead found it a compelling story line by its own account.
Steve Martin has excellent...

Pros: Wonderful modern retelling of a classic novel Cons: If you don't catch the beginning of the film, a lot of the story will be lost on you
The first time I saw this film, it was very late at night and I was suffering from a bad case of insomnia. I was just planning on watching a little bit of it, and hopefully I'd get tired and want to go to bed. But lucky for me, I got hooked from the...

Pros: Excellent performance by Byrne and Martin. Cons: Cinematography not the best.
One of the few dramas in which Steve Martin has acted, I thought this movie was much, much better than the box office numbers indicate. A strong performance by Steve Martin, in my opinion, and a great rendition of the classic Silas Marner. If you are ...

Steve Martin is a great actor

Pros: Great chemistry between Steve Martin and Alana Austin. Gabriel Byrne/Catherine O'Hara are also excellent Cons: None in my opinion
I watched this movie when it first was released on DVD and immediately saw that this was Steve Martin's best film to date. The movie still has Steve's genuine warm comedy, but shows his excellent ability to handle a serious role. My daughter and I loved this movie and it's one of our best.
In the film Steve loses all the gold that he horded (after having to divorce his pregnant wife due to an affair) and the lonliness he experienced is replaced with the love between a dad and his daughter. Cheeers to Steve, on his best film yet. Based on the novel Silas Marner.
