Pros: An excellent movie with a well-written script and great acting. Cons: Not for young audiences or those who are squeamish and very sensitive.
Let me start off by saying that "The Green Mile" is an excellent movie, the script well-written, and the acting outstanding; however, if you don't like scenes that are graphic, this movie may not be for you.
Tom Hanks plays the main...

Pros: very touching, intense, good from beginning to end Cons: gruesome, and partly painful to watch
The Green Mile is one movie that i will never forget. I saw this movie a few weeks ago and i still think about it. When i was watching it the expression on my face was so intense i couldn't believe that when it was over, that was 3 hours. It really felt...

Pros: Directing, and intention Cons: Unresolved intention creates a downer
It's hard for me to criticize this film because I realize it was trying to make a spiritual point, but it's like driving through miles of run down strip malls to get to the Grand Canyon. The big guy on death row has miraculous powers, ok. Which, unlike...

Pros: Very touching and draws your attention through it all. Cons: It is as long as Titanic. Deals with an issue that has very heated sides to it.
I first saw the Green Mile when it came out on video. Unfortunately, being a poor college student I have to wait until all movies come out on video, so it's cheaper for me to watch them. My parents pay to watch them on video but I pay in the theater....

Pros: An all-time great movie; unforgettable Cons: Violence and brutality you'd expect from a death row movie. Still worth seeing.
If you ever saw Ellen Burstyn in Resurrection, you'll be reminded of it in The Green Mile. Stories about the ability to heal others with a touch can be very compelling, especially when mixed with the resulting misunderstandings and hatred that forms in...

Pros: good acting, story, followed the book Cons: a little long
I read this book when it came in 6 parts. I loved it and couldn't wait for the next section of the book to come out. Then I saw they made it into a movie. I wanted to see it in the theater but couldn't leave my kids for 3 hours. So I waited and waited...

Pros: Great original story and great performances Cons: Perhaps a little long and drags a little in the beginning
While watching an old Fred Astaire film in his retirement home, an aged Paul Edgecomb (Dobbs Greer), is brought to tears by remembering the most remarkable and saddest year of of his life, 1935. Soon he is relating the story to another resident in the...

Pros: great acting, great plot, great movie! Cons: none
This is another wonderful movie that stars Tom Hanks. He has had so many in his fine career. Anyway in this film he plays a prison guard who is in control of executions of a prison. The story takes place in the days of slavery, but the focus isn't...

Pros: One retains hope, eternally Cons: Some scenes, though graphic for effect , may upset people
I am not a professional movie reviewer and for that I am grateful. Being an amateur allows me to be able to enjoy a film simply for the story being told. I have not been a true fan of all Stephen King movies or books, but I not only enjoyed this story, I...

Pros: Touched the inner core of my soul,HEARTFELT,moving Cons: I think the mouse at the end....was a bit much and unnecessary
I was literally excited when THE GREEN MILE was released to video. I sent my husband to the local video store and I anticipated his return. I had heard that this was an excellant movie, but to be honest I did not know too much about it.
As I...

Pros: Well acted, intriguing, thought provoking. Cons: Graphic execution scene
I am not a Stephen King fan...that is, I do not enjoy reading his normal fare of demons, ghosts, evil, and the occult. However, seeing the actors tout this movie on Oprah convinced me to see it. I'm glad I did.
The main characters in this...

Pros: Good insight as to what it can be like on death row. Cons: Could have been a little more upbeat
Another very good movie in my opinion. It brings to my mind a lot of questions as to how thoroughly a crime is investigated and the accused questioned before deciding if a person is guilty or innocent. In North American history there have been people who...

Pros: great acting, plot, scripting Cons: a little overlong
Any movie that takes the first third of its three hours just to establish its characters is either supremely executed or painfully indulgent. Happily, just like The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile was adapted from a Stephen King story by director...

Pros: acting; plot Cons: none even the 3 hr. length could ruin it
The Green Mile is by far one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Tom Hanks and Duncan give top notch performances as both prison guard and prisoner.
The floor on death row is patrolled by Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) and the rest of...
