Pros: Kristen Stewart is very, very pretty. Cons: The story didn't make sense, and doesn't attempt to make any apologies.
I was really in the mood to be frightened by a good supernatural movie when I put on The Messengers. I shut the lights, and turned the volume up pretty high. I was ready for the loud surprises jumping out of dark corners, and for some creepy ...

Pros: Well, it makes for great MST3K fodder . . . Cons: Wow . . . everything. Acting, characters, plot, direction, effects, all of it.
Every time I sit down to write a movie review, I look the film up on the IMDB in order to be sure that I am getting the spellings of names correctly and to properly reference things like the directors, writers, etc. Whenever I do this - which is ...

Pros: It's not a remake. Cons: Overall execution.
It looked promising: A creepy old house, an unsuspecting family, something disturbing in the walls. There were whispers of real life phenomena, there was speculation about what a small child is able to perceive. And then

Your Basic Horror Film
by peeplmagn8 ,Jun 26 '07
Pros: It passed the time. Cons: It wasn't all that good.
If you like it when Good vs Evil then this is the movie for you. If you like plots you can't see coming a mile away then you'd be better off renting something like...oh? Running With Scissors, or Dead Again.
This wasn't a bad movie, please don't get me wrong; it just wasn't a great one either. Parts of it were just plain odd, to me - but then, I've never actually met a sunflower farmer so I wouldn't know where the things are grown, or how it's done (although one would assume that a grower of the plants would take some sort of action to prevent his crop being devoured by hordes of birds??!?)
This film was basically the sort you'd go to see at a drive-in with your date so you'd have an excuse to cuddle together during the "frightening" bits.

Never received the "Message"
by tamlynedwards ,Oct 17 '08
Pros: Good enough to pass the time. Cons: Not scary enough... boo.
Kind of ironic, huh? The message was they weren't welcome in the house but the father refused to leave with his family.
The little boy scared me more than anything everytime he walked away after shadows in the wallpaper. And then the babysitter would get scared and scream and there was the old farmer's helper.
It's not until after eerie details and fabulous offers on the farm and the family loses everything, they leave. They never received the message.
